Realms. Usergroups. It's been a popular idea in the past. Would you like to be involved?

Are you allowed to pick which clubgroup you join, or do you have to be assigned by how you sign up?

I'm hesitant to use the usergroups, because I don't think many people here know how they work. If we could have more of an explanation on that that'd be great.

^I'm one of those people that could use an explanation. I don't even know what they are let alone how they work.

I’m reluctant to go for this. VERY much so. :wary: I'm afraid it would make the forum more clique-y and less... er, welcoming to the new people who aren't part of any usergroups. and then there would form alliances and rivalries between all the groups. I just don't think it's a good idea. All the pain and hassle it could cause to the site and to the mods having to put it up probably wouldn't be worth it in the end.

Oooooh, I like the idea of this. Would it just be Lord of the Rings though? Or would it be things like Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean aswell?

^^We're already cliquey as it is :P
Usergroups aren't that difficult to put up at all actually.

^I'm guessing LotR... because this IS a LotR forum. :D

^ LOL! Good point.
I know that there are quite a few, communities lets say, though, within AU, that bind together on other subjects (Like the above).

The only thing I have against it is dividing the forum up. I mean, we are all like one family, not parts.

^Well, what smeag said was more of what I was saying here. Dividing AU up into a bunch of sections just doesn't make sense to me if it's worked fine this far. And sure we have lots of cliques here, not that that is a good or bad thing (in it's place), but since we already have those cliques do we really need extra sub-forums to just enhance them? Anyone who's in a "clique" with anyone else can still talk to each other as it is in different parts of the forum. This just seems to be... er, not nessisary. :erm: like a school cafeteria or something. But then again it's late... so forgive me if this comes across as harsh. I don't mean it to.

pros and cons for usergroups:

pro - give people somewhere to talk
con - they could generate more clique-ness
pro - venting possibilities for discussions
con - getting away from LotR
pro - getting to know each other more
con - potential of making rifts between the members

I´m not sure of anything right now, sorry
