I believe suffering makes a person stronger. That's what happened to Frodo.

I agree with everyone, in that suffering strengthens a person and their character. I also believe that all suffering has a purpose; suffering makes one appreciate the joys in their life. I also think, from my point of view, that suffering makes one long for the perfection, beauty, and complete peace of the next world.

^That's a good view of suffering.

In my opinion grief is something "good" not as in "it's a good feeling", but it makes you stronger and after the worst part is over everything seems so much more beautiful and the small things in life are just more amazing than ever before.
I think that if you never feel grief you'll never feel happiness either.
Only who has suffered the most and felt the greatest grief can also feel the greatest happiness.
Just my opinion, feel free to disagree..

Suffering, both physically and mentally, does not only make us stronger, but also gives experience. You learn things from you're suffering which can help you overcome it. Pain, grief, and suffering are a natural part of life. We will all face them at some point. We must decide whether we fall or fall and get up again because of it.

Though no one likes to suffer, I think it's always good for us. It makes you stronger, builds your character, and shapes who you are. Once your time of suffering is over, you will be able to look back and say "I've made it through that." Suffering's also made easier when you are suffering alongside someone. I think Frodo and Sam are the best example of two kinds of suffering (namely in RotK). They are physically suffering (lack of food/water, their difficult climb of Mt. Doom, etc.) and mentally suffering. Frodo's mental suffering comes from the weight of the Ring, while Sam's suffering comes from seeing his friend suffer.
I think Tolkien did a good job of portraying both.

Part of the story are strong emotions, especially with the latter two Morannon campaign, or more specifically with the mouth of Sauron, but only Denethor is to control their emotions, to despair.
