Hi, I'm Gil-Galad from Germany, but actually I'm a girl... Sometimes my English sucks, because it's not my native language, but I hope it's understandable. I'm into LOTR for at least 3 years by now and I also enjoy HP, Buffy and so on. Ok, I guess that was all...

Hey! Welcome to Arwen-Undómiel, Gil-galad! I hope you will enjoy your stay here ;).

Someone near me! I'm not German, I'm Dutch. I know some German, though.

Where do you live in the Netherlands? Because I have to walk 700m and I am in the Netherlands... (I live in Aachen, or I think in Dutch it's Aaken...)

In Dutch "Aachen" is "Aken" :)

I live in Rotterdam, so that's not very close to where you live. But still, it's closer to France or America or something :D

My best friend is doing an Au Pair Year in Noordwijk at the moment... We will move together when she comes back and then she is gonna teach me Dutch! I personally think that Dutch sounds really weird... But it is easy to read for Germans.

Dutch sounding weird? I think the same of German :P. Well, you can talk German to me, I know some German. Most people say Dutch is a very hard language, it has more exceptions then rules.

Perhaps it is difficult to be really good in Dutch, but the understanding is not really difficult. But I can speak old German (Plattdeutsch) and thats really similar to Dutch concerning the pronounciation and the words.

I can imagine, that you think that Germans sounds weird. Dutch just sounds like a funny mixture of German and English.

I watched a German movie lately.. Periode 1 was the name, if I got it right. Or at least something containing that. Well, it was a weird Star Wars Parody. Do you know that movie?

Yeah, and I HATE it. It is all because of "Der Schuh des Manitu", that was a parody of Winnetou. Everyone was absolutely thrilled by this movie - I found it awful. And the some producers made "Periode 1" which shall be a parody of Star Trek and Star Wars. But I don't like these parodies. But perhaps I just like the originals too much...

I did not like "Periode 1" either. It is such a stupid movie. And, yes, I also watched "Der Schuh des Manitu", which was also awful. Well, it's nice to see someone from Germany agreeing with me :D

I had a hard time back then... When Schuh des Manitu was released. Thank God, Periode 1 wasn't that popular. But we had a real hype in Germany around these movies. Are there any Dutch movies? I think, I have never watched one...

Yes, there are also Dutch movies, but they are not well known, not even in the Netherlands themselves. I have never watched a Dutch movie either, as far as I can remember.

But that's kind of weird, isn't it? I mean, the Netherlands are small, but not that small. I have watched English, French, Spanish and German movies - I even have seen a Belgian one. But never a Dutch one. You have to do something about that!
