Hey! I'm a newbie here, but I know the website for so long I couldn't remember when was the first time I have discovered it!
How weird! Until today, I've never had the idea to register here!
But I'm glad to be registered now
So I'm french, I'm 18 Yo (so sorry for my english I try to do my best to speak correctly but... it's not my native language), I study cinema for years now and I'm preparing the shooting of various fantastic or horror short movies.
Peter Jackson inspired me.
I'm a huge fan of LOTR (Books and movies) for years, I read 'em almost each year (Christopher Lee does too )
Well that's it for now!
Namarie!

Hiril_Menelloth!! Welcome, welcome, welcome! How nice of you to join!
I too, am inspired by Peter Jackson. In fact, I think I'm one of the few people on AU who put the movies on the same level with the book. I can never stop admiring his fantastic work; it was definitely the masterpiece of all movies.
Your English is fine, and AU is a great way to improve it too! Look forward to seeing you in our various discussions, enjoy yourself!

Thank you to all of you for your kind messages
Fencing Maiden -> I think a book and a movie can't be the same at all.
The choices that PJ made to shoot LOTR are good choices. If he had kept every single event of the book, movies would have lost rythm, and interest because we don't go to the cinema to read a book, but to watch an adventure, to get involved in it.
We can be involved easily in the LOTR books because of the way of writing of Tolkien. But on screen it would have been so boring to translate as a script everything of what he wrote.
To adapt a movie isn't to make a perfect copy.
I think PJ stayed close to the books, has kept the spirit of the books, and that's the most important.

Rioght, my fault, wrong wording. What I was trying to say was that I like the movies just as well as the books.

, Hiril_Menelloth!
I'm Rose of Rivendell, but just call me Rose for short. I'm glad that you've finally decided to join and I hope that you'll have a wonderful time here at A-U.com!
Don't worry about your English. For many A-U users it's not their mother tongue, so the forum is also a good place to improve your English knowledge.
It sounds very interesting that you're going to make some short movies. Maybe one day you'll be a famous director like PJ .
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
See you around,
~Rose

Hiril Menelloth, welcome! It's so good to have you with us! I'm Gwenneth, but just call me Gwen for short.
I wouldn't even guess that English wasn't your first language, you don't need to worry. And there are TONS of other members who have a different first language, as well.
Well, it was nice getting to hear some stuff about you. Once again, welcome!
~Gwen

Hi! Don't worry about your English, it's perfectly understandable to me. Wow, were the same age, there's not that many 18-ers on here. Wow, to study cinema would be a dream come true for me. Good luck in your directing and have fun here.
