Does anyone have any interesting facts they learned about the lord of the rings movies? For example I learned that during the scene in TTT when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli find the pile of orc corpses and Aragorn scream s at the thought of Merry and Pippin being dead and drops to his knees? He really broke a toe kicking the helmet so his scream was of agony upon breaking the toe, but he made it look like he was so upset about their "fate"!! I thought that was pretty interesting...
What about u guys?

Lol yes I found that interesting as well. Hmmm let me see...I thought that it was interesting that Andy Serkis did the voice of Gollum, the Black Riders (not the screeching, but the talking, which is actually more like hissing) and one of the orcs the captures Merry and Pippin. Very talented

remember when Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf, Pippin and company rode to the Black Gate and Aragorn had finished his speech "this day we fight!"? well, in the comentary i learned that when Brego reared it wasn't rehearsed at all. it totally happened in the moment - Uraus (Brego) felt the excitement of the mood or something, and Viggo was so at one with the horse he was able to just go with it. it looked totally awesome, and added to the scene!

In the beginning of the Fellowship, Gandalf bumped his head against the top of the door in Bag End. That was actually an accident, but since Peter Jackson liked it. It was put in.

I was just about to write that one smeagollum (very nice name btw )
Hmmm...I need to think of something else now. Well it's not very interesting but in the theatrical version, Galadriel's name is only said once when she says "And I will stay Galadriel" or whatever the line was. And the name Weathertop is never mentioned. Only Amon Sul. I thought that was kind of strange.

In a couple of the wide shots of Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli running in TTT, the actors were all injured. Viggo had broken that toe, Orlando had a couple of broken ribs from falling off a horse, and the stunt double for Gimli had a knee injury.

I learned this from Dom in the cast commentary:
At Bag End, when Bilbo drops the ring before he leaves the Shire, the floor is magnetic so that the ring lands with a thud and doesn't bounce off.

Ahhh, that's interesting about the magnetic floor. I always wondered too... it always appears to be so heavy the ring when it hits the floor, now I know why!
I didn't know about the broken toe and that's super cool about Aragorn's horse. But I did know about Gandalf hitting his head and I heard his reaction and the way he acted through it, was so good, they kept it in

I remember I think... PJ said on the extras that Viggo's on OWN horse played Aragorn's horse, HASUFEL, and Viggo loved the horse that played BREGO so much that he actually bought it!!

How bout this? When they were filming the black gate it was in an army training zone. That would have been interesting: "This day we... "

Yes I heard about that, they had this roped off area that was full of bombs and who knows what else, know one could go in there. Also I think it was Dom or Billy who hound a bomb or something and he kept it.

I think when they had to shoot Aragorn floating down the river in TTT, he nearly drowned. And during the scenes where Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli were chasing after the orcs, Viggo had a broken toe, Orlando had a broken rib, and Brett, the size double for Gimli, had a broken kneecap.

Viggo's son played an orc that Aragorn killed in the Pelannor fields.
There was a funny outtake where they made the crown too big, so when they filmed the crowning scene, and Gandalf put the crown on Aragorn's head, it slipped down to his shoulder.
