Yeah. I mean, Aragorn gave them a choice - trust me or die. It's a hard choice, but at the same time kinda easy. At least with the letter and the broken sword and everything.
If you were Aragorn, would you have gone after Merry and Pippin?

If you were Gimli, would you have TASTED the stuff on the leaf when you entered Fangorn to figure out what it was? (it ended up being orc blood!!)
