Oh definitely. I've already had two LotR marathons in a row. Meaning I watched all three extended, and then took a 20 minute pause before continuing. So why not.

No. I think it's too mean to bring them into this world. It's so different. I've experienced culture shock, but the culture shock between Middle-earth and here would be insane. It's different for us going there because we know what Middle-earth is like.

EDIT:

No, being pretty much the only immortal being amongst mortals would get pretty lonely.
