(I'm sorry it took me so long as well...I had a funeral to go to and spent the rest of the weekend at home with my family--I go back to my college later this afternoon--so my muse wasn't really cooperating when I actually did have time to write)

Legolas stood still as a statue, his eyes peering out into the darkness at the host of Uruk-Hai that stood before them, preparing to storm Helm's Deep. The arrival of Haldir and his legion of Lorien elves had cheered him greatly, and he now looked upon this battle with more optimism than before. They were not nearly so outnumbered now--perhaps they still stood a chance. At the back of his mind, however, his worry for Amara still lingered. He cast a sidelong glance at her, but her face seemed calm for now. Had she fully recovered from whatever had taken over her only a few short hours ago? And more importantly, had she truly forgiven him for his words, his insensitivity and lack of faith?

"Tangado halad!" Estel yelled, telling the archers to prepare to fire. Legolas nodded and notched an arrow to his bow, still looking down over the Uruks. "Faeg i-varv... dîn na lanc a nu ranc." He told his friends, instructing them on where to aim. Estel called for them to open fire, and a volley of arrows rained down against the Uruk-Hai, killing many. The thrill of it, the sheer adrenaline of the battle, overtook Legolas instantly, causing him to all but forget his earlier worries.

"Did they hit anything?" Gimli asked, still struggling to see over the wall, but Legolas didn't answer as a larger hail of arrows struck their enemies far below as the king called for another attack. Aragorn's own cry of "Fire!" rang throughout the keep.

"Send them to me! Come on!" Gimli urged, and Legolas bit back a smile at his friend's bravery and eagerness. Your time will soon come, Gimli, he thought as he saw the first ladder get pushed up towards the wall. They are coming.

"Pendraid!" Aragorn yelled, warning all that it would soon be time for close combat as the enemy breached the outer defenses of the wall. Swords and knives were drawn in preparation, and Gimli brandished his axe threateningly. "Swords! Swords!"

Uruks began to storm the wall, and close combat began as they climbed over it like insects. Legolas began to fight, making sure to keep track of his kills, as he knew Gimli would be doing as well. There was no way he was going to lose to that Dwarf.

"Legolas!" Gimli called to him suddenly. "Two already!"

"I'm on seventeen!" he yelled back with a grin.

"Ah! I'll have no pointy-ear outscoring me!" Gimli shouted before launching into another attack on an Uruk as it came over the wall. Legolas smirked and fired two more arrows, watching in satisfaction as they hit their mark. "Nineteen!"

(Faeg i-varv... dîn na lanc a nu ranc--Their armor is weak at the neck... and beneath the arms.)

(Pendraith--Ladders!)

Amara stood completely still in her spot, as she heard Aragorn shout out the orders to their army. She swallowed hard and let out a shaky breath, quietly. She was still weak, but she was fighting against it so that she could fight alongside her people. She aimed her bow and arrows and readied it, before shooting it toward her target. It head dead on. She smirked a bit and then after a bit, she backed up since ladders were being put up. She put away her bow and then got out her sword, quickly and swiftly. She readied herself and then started attacking the Orcs, once they came up. Anyone could tell that she was weak, but she didn't care. She had to help them.

Gimli stood on the wall between two ladders, hacking away at Uruk-hai as they came up. "Seventeen! Eighteen! Nineteen! Twenty! Twenty-one! Twenty-two!" He yelled out as he killed them, letting Legolas know just how many he was killing. A group of Uruk-hai were starting to advance on the Causeway towards the gate in tortoise formation, using their broad shields to block off attacks. "Na fennas!" Aragorn yelled to the soldiers, letting them know about what was going on and directed the Elf archers to aim at the Uruk-hai column. The Elf archers released their arrows instantly. The Uruk-hai at the sides were shot and fell down the Causeway. But, the column kept advancing. "Is this it? Is this all you can conjure, Saruman?" Theoden asked angrily, narrowing his eyes at the battle before him.

At the bottom of the Deeping Wall, two spiky bombs were lodged in the sluice gate. The rest of the Uruks opened a path and a single Uruk-hai carrying a torch started to run towards the sluice gate. Aragorn spotted the Uruk-hai. "Togo hon dad, Amara!" Aragorn yelled to her, telling her to bring the Uruk-hai down. Amara killed the Orc she had in front of her and then quickly put her sword away. She hurried over to the ledge and got her bow and arrow steadied. She shot the Uruk-hai in the shoulder, but the latter kept going. "Dago hon! Dago hon!" Aragorn continued yelling to Amara, telling her to kill him. Amara shot the Uruk again. It stumbled and then threw it self and the torch at the bombs. An enormous explosion was set off, blowing away a large part of the wall. Rock, debris and bodies were thrown up. Aragorn and Amara were also thrown back by the force of the explosion and on the ground, but Aragorn was knocked out.

Théoden looked on in shock as the Uruk-hai streamed in past the Deeping Walls. "Brace the Gate! Hold them! Stand firm!" He yelled to his men, making sure that they didn't fail. Gimli saw the Uruk-hai charging in with Aragorn and Amara in their path. With a cry, he jumped down from the wall and landed on the Uruk-hai army, taking them out as he stood. "Aragorn!! Amara!! Argh!" He yelled at them. Amara quickly got up, feeling a bit dizzy. She got out her sword and started slicing at some of the Uruk-hai around her, that escaped from Gimli. Gimli was soon overpowered. Aragorn got up and saw Gimli falling. "Gimli!" Aragorn yelled. He then looked over his shoulder to the Elves behind him. "Hado i philinn!" He yelled at them. The arrows took out the first group of Uruk-hai coming through the hole in the wall. "Herio!" Aragorn yelled to charge and lead the Elves in a charge towards the Uruk-hai streaming in. He rushed to Gimli’s side and picked him up. At the top of the battlements, Amara ran up to see what else was up there. She looked over and saw Legolas grab a shield and send it sliding across the ground. Surfing down the staircase with it and shooting Uruk-hai. She smiled a bit and shook her head, before running toward the enemy to fight more.

Gamling hurried to Aragorn, while killing some of the enemy along the way. "Aragorn! Fall back to the Keep! Get your men out of there!" He yelled, to protect them. Aragorn nodded and sliced down an Uruk-hai, before yelling to his men, "Na Barad! Na Baraad! Haldir, Amara, na Barad!" Haldir and Amara nodded and turned back. Gimli was being carried away, kicking and struggling as he went."What are you doing? Argh! What are you stopping for?!" Gimli yelled, protesting to the man that was carrying him away. Haldir hacked at a few Uruk as he turned towards the gate. Suddenly, he was stabbed in his arm. With a grimace, he killed the Uruk-hai and looked down at his wound in seeming disbelief. Amara sensed that something was wrong and then quickly looked up, seeing Haldir get stabbed. Her eyes widened and she gasped a bit. "HALDIR!!!!" She yelled and then ran as fast as she could, as she saw an Uruk-hai start to come up from behind him unnoticed by Haldir. He got ready to slice him on the neck. Haldir turned around and stared in fear at the Uruk-hai, before Amara's blade went against the Uruk-hai's and she pushed Haldir aside. She groaned as she struggled to match the creature's strength. She looked over her shoulder to Haldir, quickly. "Go to the Keep!" She yelled and then he backed away slowly. He looked around at his fallen kin and decided right then and there that he wasn't going to leave her behind.

Amara turned back to the Uruk-hai and then got kneed really hard in the stomach, which made her yell in pain and stumble backwards a bit. He then stabbed her in the stomach afterward, once she was caught off-guard. Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open in pain. She couldn't even scream. Haldir gasped at what happened and then hurried over angrily, slicing at the Uruk with all of his might, before killing it. Amara fell down to her knees in pain and put her hand over the wound, feeling warm blood go all over her hand. She gasped for air and then felt Haldir's arms around her, as she started falling to the ground. Aragorn sees Amara falling and his eyes widen. "AMARA!!" He yelled. He then ran up the steps to Haldir and Amara’s side. He watched as Amara's head started to roll back, her eyes starting to empty and become unseeing. "Amara, stay with us!" Aragorn yelled again and then looked to Haldir. "Take her to the medical facility." He said to his friend and Haldir nodded. He carried her in his arms and then hurried off to save her. Aragorn bowed his head in grief for a few moments. Then with a cry, he jumped onto a ladder and swung down to the ground, killing as he went.

Gamling started gathering all of the elves and men and yelled, "Brace the gate!" One of the other soldiers cried out, "Hold them!" Theoden then drew his sword and glared a bit. "To the gate! Draw your swords!" He commanded of them. Théoden and his commanders came to the gate, which was under heavy attack. The Uruk-hai were knocking down the gate and hacking through the broken wood. Théoden stabbed at an Uruk-hai and received a lance in his shoulder, blocked by his armour. Grimacing in pain, Théoden continued to stab at the Uruk until led away by Gamling. "Make way! We cannot hold much longer." Gamling yelled.

(Hado i philinn! - Hurl the arrows!)

(Na Barad! Na Baraad! Haldir, Amara, na Barad! - To the Keep! Pull back to the Keep! Haldir, Amara, to the Keep!)

It happened so quickly it seemed unreal, a hellish image conjured up by Sauron in some nightmarish world. One moment he was fighting, the next moment he was watching in horror as an Uruk stabbed Amara as she tried to save Haldir. "AMARA!" he screamed, hearing Estel's own cry sounding distant and far away. He tried in vain to get to her side, but it seemed like his legs had been turned to stone--he could hardly move. Every step seemed to take an eternity, and as Uruks began to crowd around him something inside of Legolas snapped. Blind rage filled him, taking over his every action until only two things mattered--reaching Amara in time, and killing every single Uruk that dared to stand in his way.

He arrived just as Amara fell backwards, and his heart lurched as the light started to leave her eyes. "NO!" he yelled. "Amara, stay with me! Stay with us!" Aragorn ordered Estel to take her to the Keep, and Legolas stood up too. He and Aragorn shared a look as both of them prepared to go in opposite directions--Aragorn back to the battle to avenge Amara, and Legolas inside to oversee her care. Legolas gave a nod to his dearest friend before turning and following Haldir back into the fortress that was slowly but surely being breached by the barrage of the enemy.

He caught up with Haldir in the room that had been set aside for use as an infirmary for those injured in battle--a room far enough away from the main entrance that if the worst did happen and the Uruk-Hai did get through, there was still some chance that the wounded might be spared. "Haldir!" he said, coming to stand by his side. "How is she? Does she yet live?"

Haldir held onto Amara securely, as he hurried with Legolas to the infirmary. He swallowed hard and laid her unconscience body down on one of the beds, letting a nurse take over from there. He took a step back and then looked down to his bloodied arm, biting his lip. He then heard Legolas' question to him and then looked to his friend of old, resting a hand on his shoulder. "Legolas... She is weak. But, I believe that there is enough fight in her to continue on. We may have brought her here in time." He spoke gently and then had a nurse come up, checking on his hurt arm. He undid his shirt a bit, so that the nurse could clean and dress his wound.

Taking a shaky breath, Haldir looked over Amara's figure. "We must watch over her." He said softly to Legolas.

As Aragorn ran towards the King and his men, he stabbed away at the Uruk-hai through the broken gate. "How long do you need?" He asked them urgently. Gamling was with the men, by their side yelling, "Brace the gate!" Theoden then looked to Aragorn and swallowed hard. "As long as you can give me!" He said back to him.
Aragorn looked around and then yelled, "Gimli!" Finding his short friend, they slipped out a side exit and stood on a ledge just to the side of the main gate. Aragorn peeked over, seeing the large band of Uruk-hai storming the gate. Gimli glared a bit to the enemy and looked up to Aragorn. "Come on! We can take ‘em!" He said a bit quietly, so they wouldn't be heard. "It’s a long way." Aragorn said softly, shaking his head a bit while looking at the gap. Gimli took a peek and then stepped back. "Toss me." He mumbled to his friend. Aragorn looked back to him and raised an eyebrow. "What?" He asked. "I cannot jump the distance! You’ll have to toss me!" He said, getting a little aggravated that he had to resort to what he mentioned. Aragorn nodded slowly and then turned to grab the Dwarf. "Oh!" Gimli exclaimed and then grabbed Aragorn’s hand, before he was thrown. "Don’t tell the Elf." He added. Aragorn grinned a bit and nodded. "Not a word." He agreed. He then tossed Gimli to the head of the Causeway and then leaped over.

Making quick work of killing the Uruk-hai, Gimli yelled out in anger. On the other side of the gate, Theoden yelled out to his men, "Shore up the door!" He then heard a bunch of scattered voices from his men yell out in agreement. "Higher!" Theoden yelled. Men were bracing the gate with wood and nails.

Aragorn and Gimli continued to fight off the Uruk-hai just outside.
Meanwhile, the Uruk-hai loaded and fired enormous hooks over the battlements. Hundreds of Uruk-hai climbed onto super-ladders as they were pulled up towards the walls, the super-ladders locked onto the edge of the battlements with their steel grips. An archer took aim as another super-ladder was being pulled up and shot away one of the ropes. The ladder fell back onto the Uruk-hai army. "Hold fast the gate!" Theoden yelled out loudly. He then hurried toward the gate and looked through a crack in it. "Gimli! Aragorn! Get out of there!" He added.

Legolas gave Haldir a grateful nod as one of the women came to attend to him, moving to kneel by Amara's side as she was laid down onto a small cot. Her face was deathly pale, and he was reminded of that awful night before Gandalf had fallen, when they had been attacked in the shadow of Caradhras--the last time he had nearly lost Amara. He hadn't told her how he felt about her then, and he had come so close to not ever having a chance to.

Arabella had been there for Amara then, nearly sacrificing her own welfare to save her best friend. Now, Legolas supposed, was the time for him to be there for Amara. It was his turn to save her now, the best way he knew how.

Her face was deathly pale, devoid of all color, and her hair hung limp on the small pillow that had been placed under her head. Legolas took one of her hands and was shocked to find it was growing cold. His heart froze in his chest. "Amara, no..." he whispered. "Be strong, Amara. Be strong for me--for us. For Arabella and Frodo and Estel and Haldir and all those who love you, who would lay down their lives to save you if they could. We're all counting on you, Amara. I was wrong. The Fellowship can still succeed, but we need you by our side. You must fight this. Please..." he blinked back tears. "I gave you my heart, now and forever. I know you can fight this. I love you. Come back to us."

Amara laid there motionless in the cot that she had been placed in and was having a dream. It was of her future. Or was she dead? She hadn't quite figured it out yet. In her dream, she walked along the forest path and heard a voice call out behind her. It was a very recognizable voice. It was Legolas. Her Legolas. She looked over her shoulder to him and smiled widely, waving her hand to him. They embraced each other and kissed, before hearing another voice. A younger voice. She looked down and saw a boy. Was it really? It was their son. He was so handsome and looked just like Legolas. He even had a small bow and arrow.

Suddenly, the sky in the dream grew dark and both Legolas and their son dissolved away. She reached out to them and tried calling to them, but she had no voice. The eye of Sauron appeared in the sky and stared down at her angrily. "You will never have this dream become a reality... I will make sure you die!" He hissed to her. And just as she was about to give up, she heard words echo in her head. "The Fellowship can still succeed, but we need you by our side. You must fight this. Please..." It was Legolas' voice. She then felt more powerful than she had ever felt before. Almost as if she had become re-energized by his words of optimism. She glared a bit to Sauron and shook her head. "You will not kill me... We will all kill you first." And just like that, the dream was over.

Slowly opening her eyes, all of the color instantly came back to her face. Her rosy cheeks came back to life and her lips were the normal pink hue. But, something was different. Her eyes were no longer the green color that they had originally been. They were now a piercing blue, exactly like Legolas'. She was closer to fully being an Elf. She saw Legolas there and then swallowed hard, with a small smile. "Legolas..." She whispered softly and then squeezed his hand, to let him know that she was going to be okay.

One of the soldiers called to Aragorn and Gimli from the top of the battlements. "Aragorn!" He yelled and then he threw them a rope. Aragorn quickly grabbed Gimli in one arm and the rope with his other hand, as they were pulled up the wall by various soldiers. Just then, the Uruk-hai loaded and fired enormous hooks over the battlements. Hundreds of Uruk-hai climbed onto super-ladders as they were pulled up towards the walls; the super-ladders locking onto the edge of the battlements with their steel grips. One of the Elven archers took aim as another super-ladder was being pulled up and shot away one of the ropes. The ladder fell back onto the Uruk-hai army. King Theoden then yelled, "Pull everybody back! Pull them back!" Gamling nodded in agreement to what the King said. "Fall back! Fall back!" He yelled as well. "They’ve broken through! The castle is breached. Retreat!" The King added. Gamling then yelled, "Fall back!" Aragorn quickly motioned for everyone to follow. "Hurry! Inside! Get them inside!" He yelled. "Into the Keep!" Gamling ordered.

They all ran towards the keep, Elven archers firing two arrows into the Uruk-hai army as he goes.

He watched her, hardly daring to move as she lay there motionless on the bed, as if he was afraid that if he did, she would vanish, dissolving away into nothing and leaving him alone. It was strange, how he had lived for thousands of years content as he was, and then in a single instant he had happened across two intruders in Imladris and his life had changed forever. Now, he couldn't imagine life without Amara, and what was more, he didn't want to. A life without her would be empty, hardly worth living. He would rather die, diminish and go into the West with his kin, than face a life in Middle-earth without her. For one single moment, he allowed himself to think that should Amara die, he would rather Sauron win so that he could die too.

But then these dark thoughts vanished as he spoke to Amara, hope filling him as he heard his own words. Somehow, he knew this was what she needed to hear--what they both needed to hear--and what was even more miraculous was that now he believed it with all his heart. They could do this, together. They could defeat Sauron and save Middle-earth, to make it safe for those they loved now and in the future. They could do this.

But they had lost so many already. He could not stand to lose Amara too.

He vowed never to let that happen.

Legolas lowered his head and closed his eyes. Flashes of a beautiful forest ran through his head, although whether it was a vision or simply a wishful daydream he wasn't sure. He didn't recognize the wood he now found himself in--it didn't look like his home of Mirkwood, and it certainly wasn't Lothlorien either. He caught a glimpse of movement out of the corner of his eye and turned, seeing Amara there, a smile on her face and her eyes bright with laughter--

He felt someone squeeze his hand, and he looked up immediately. His eyes widened as he saw Amara looking at him, a smile lighting up her face as she spoke his name. "Amara," he breathed, staring at her for just one moment longer, taking it all in, before he broke into a relieved grin. "Amara," he repeated, moving in to kiss her forehead gently. It was then that he noticed the change that had come over her--where her eyes had once been a piercing emerald hue, they were now the steely blue of the Mirkwood elves. "What's happened to your eyes?" he asked.

Amara looked deeply into Legolas' eyes and smiled lovingly to him. She was about to say something, when she heard him comment on her eyes. "My eyes? They're different?" She asked him softly, looking completely confused. She raised an eyebrow and then sat up a bit, before gasping a bit in pain. She looked down and saw a large bandage around her waist, with some blood seeping through. She then felt everything flood back to her. All of the memories. And Haldir. Her eyes widened a bit and then she quickly looked back up to Legolas. "Haldir... Did I save him?" She asked nervously. She was scared that she had failed to protect him. A good friend of all Elves and Lady Galadriel.

She tucked some hair behind her ear and looked over his face a bit nervously. She didn't know what was going to happen to them, the Fellowship or the land of Middle Earth. She hoped that Arabella, Frodo and Sam were alright.

Legolas gave her a soft smile as he brushed her long hair back from her face. "They have," he said softly. "They're no longer green, I'm afraid...they are much more like my own eyes now." He bent forward to kiss her forehead again. "But you still look as beautiful as ever."

He gently placed his hands on her shoulders and lowered her back down onto the bed when she tried to sit up, wincing in pain. "Careful," he cautioned. "Just try to relax. You're going to be fine. You will."

When Amara asked about Haldir, Legolas couldn't help but smirk a bit as he looked over his shoulder at his friend, who came to stand beside him. "He is well, thanks to you," he told her.

Haldir gave a smile. "Indeed, I owe my life to you, Lady Amara. I thank you for saving me."

"You have done all of us proud--and given us quite a fright," Legolas said. "We can ask no more of you tonight, my love. You must rest now and recover your strength."

Amara nodded to what Legolas said about her eyes and then made a face. "That's strange... I don't know why they changed." She said to him softly and then smiled to his compliment. "Thank you, my love." She added. She kissed his cheek softly and then looked up, seeing Haldir there. She smiled even more to him and nodded once to him, before hearing what else Legolas said. "But... What about the Uruk-hai? This Keep needs all the help it can get. Even from the wounded." She said to him softly.

She leaned back a bit on her cot and then bit her lower lip, looking down to her stomach. She knew that she would get better soon. She just really wanted to help. She was feeling stronger, but just sore.

She threw her legs over the side of the cot and then slowly sat up, so she wouldn't hurt again. She held onto the edge of it with her hands and looked over Legolas and Haldir. "I must help..." She begged to the both of them.

Legolas bit his lip, unsure of what to tell Amara. On the one hand, it was wonderful to see such determination in Amara again--her eyes might have been different, but that spark in them was the same as ever. But at the same time, he had just come so close to losing her that he couldn't bear to put her though anything like that again, especially in her weakened state. He wasn't sure whether she could stand on her own, let alone fight, no matter how much she wanted to. "I think you should rest, my love..." he murmured. "Does it hurt still? I can send someone to fetch some medicine...has it at least stopped bleeding?" He closed his eyes, the memory of all the blood coming back to him...

But it had always been Amara's bravery and unyielding loyalty--and stubbornness, he supposed--that he had loved most about her, and he rushed forward to help her as she tried to stand up on her own. "There's no talking you out of this, is there?" he asked with a light laugh. "Then I suppose I must let you--but only if you feel up to it. Do not feel as though you have to fight--you do not." He kissed her lips softly before looking into her eyes. "But if you truly wish to return to battle, I will be by your side every step of the way."

Amara stood up with Legolas' help and looked up into his eyes with a small smile. "There's no talking me out of this." She said softly and laughed a bit, looking into his eyes. She kissed him back and then rested her hand against his chest. "I'll be okay, my love. I just really think that I owe it everyone to help." She added lightly and then looked over to Haldir. She smiled a little more and he nodded once. He then left the room, leaving the two of them alone.

Looking back to Legolas, she listened to his words with love filling her heart even more. "I had a dream, while I was asleep... It was of me and you. And our son." She said to him softly and then took his hands in her own, looking down to their hands. She really hoped that the dream became a reality, despite what Sauron said to her.

"You owe them nothing--you have given them so much already. I know in my heart that the people of Rohan and of Lothlorien will be forever grateful for all that you have done on this night. But the fact that you are willing to go back into the battle...Amara, I have never known anyone braver than you."

When Amara told him of her dream, Legolas felt his eyes widen, and his heart skipped a beat. Their son...they had never discussed the future in such a way before. It had been implied, of course, but something made his heart race in excitement to hear the words spoken aloud...their future. Marriage. Children. Happiness.

If they managed to survive.

"Did you really?" he asked, drawing her close. "And what did he look like, our son? You know, I had a dream as well. Or perhaps a vision, I'm not sure. It passed very quickly. I was in a forest that was unfamiliar to me, yet it felt like home. You were there as well, but it faded too soon for me to see if there were others. I knew that we were very happy there, however."

Amara nodded to what Legolas said about the people of the different lands being grateful for her bravery. She hoped that she could at least have been helpful toward the defeat of Sauron.... Whenever it happened. She cuddled close to him and rested her head against his chest, holding onto his arms.

"Our son looked just like you... He even had his own bow and arrow. Like you had been teaching him." She said softly and smiled at the thought of how adorable he had been. She looked up to him again and then gently caressed his cheek, smiling lovingly. "Our son, Legolas..." She said softly.

She was really excited about her dream, taking Sauron out of her mind. She then decided that it was best to start walking out of the medical facility. They needed to be there for King Theoden, Aragorn, Gimli and Haldir.

Legolas smiled down at Amara, his eyes shining. "Our son," he repeated softly.

They stood for a moment longer in each other's arms, before leaving the infirmary and going to join the others. They found them in the main hall of the keep, the entire place in an uproar as Rohirrim soldiers ran around desperately trying to brace the doors against the Uruk-Hai that threatened to break in at any moment. Only the King looked calm, almost frighteningly so, his eyes that of a man who has lost all hope. Legolas frowned and squeezed Amara's hand before running to assist Aragorn as he carried a table to brace against the door.

"The fortress is taken. It is over!" Theoden said, his voice nearly dreamlike in its despair. Aragorn looked to the King in disbelief. "You said this fortress would never fall while your men defend it! They still defend it! They have died defending it!" he cried as the battering ram beat ever louder against the doors.

"Is there no other way for the women and children to get out of the caves?" Aragorn asked. When Theoden refused to answer, he persisted again. "Is there no other way?"

Legolas narrowed his eyes as Theoden remained silent, cursing his lack of faith. Didn't he realize that his people needed him now more than ever? Gamling answered for him, explaining that there was a passage the women and children could use to escape. "But they will not get far," he cautioned. Aragorn instructed Gamling to send word to the caves, telling the women and children to make for that passage.

"So much death," Theoden said, speaking suddenly. "What can men do against such reckless hate?"

The hall was silent for a moment before Aragorn looked to the King. "Ride out with me. Ride out and meet them."

Legolas stepped away from them, coming back to Amara's side and putting his hands on her shoulders. "They will come soon. They will break in, and you must promise to fight. But not just for me, or for yourself. Fight for him. Fight for our son, Amara. Fight for our son and all of the other children who are not here yet--ours, and Frodo's and Arabella's, and Aragorn and Arwen's as well. Fight to create a world for them to live in that does not have this great evil in it. Fight for the futures we all dream of. Fight for the future--a better one. Fight for our son." He kissed her fiercely then before letting her go, as they prepared to ride out to meet the battle once again.

Amara slowly walked with Legolas and then stood there, listening to the harsh words that were being exchanged between King Theoden and Aragorn. She swallowed hard and then shook her head a bit, really wanting to say something. But, she knew that she shouldn't. It wasn't her place. This fight was going to be a difficult one; she knew that deep inside of her heart. She also knew, though, that this was a battle that they were going to win. They would be victorious. "And the crownless again shall be King..." She whispered to herself and then shook her head, not knowing what she was saying.

Then, she watched Legolas walk over to her and heard the powerful words that had come out of his mouth. She smiled lovingly to him and felt tears reach her eyes. "I promise to fight for everything and everyone that we hold dear. Even if they are not in our sight yet. I promise to stay true to the Fellowship and to you especially, my love. You are my world. And our son will be, as well. We must make this world a better place for him." She said softly to him and then kissed him back, just as fiercely. She knew what she had to do and she knew that they were going into battle quickly.

Grabbing her weapons, she looked over to King Theoden as a light of determination shined in his eyes from what Aragorn had last said. "For death and glory." He said softly. Aragorn nodded and rested his hand on the King's shoulder. "For Rohan. For your people." Gimli then looked out a small window on the opposite side of the room. "The sun is rising." He called out to them. Aragorn looked up to the window to see faint light streaming through. He then recalled Gandalf's words. 'Look to my coming at first light on the fifth day. At dawn, look to the East.' Theoden nodded and smiled a little, feeling more optimistic by the minute. "Yes. Yes! The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the deep one last time!" He said proudly. Gimli ran up the steps to the horn of Helm Hammerhand yelling, "Yes!" He held it up in the air. "Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath! Now for ruin! And a red dawn!" Theoden exclaimed. He then mounted his horse and put on his helmet.

Amara smiled widely to what King Theoden said and then helped Gimli onto the back of Legolas' horse. She smiled lovingly to Legolas and kissed him one last time. "Be strong, my love. I'll see you in the end." She said to him softly. She then headed for her horse and then mounted it, getting her sword ready. The sound of the horn rumbled through Helm's Deep as Gimli blew into it with gusto. "FORTH EORLINGAS!!" Theoden yelled. Théoden lead the charge out of the Keep and into the Hornburg, slashing away at the Uruk-hai as they went. Without pause, they stormed out of the gate and down the Causeway, right into the column of waiting Uruk-hai.

In the midst of battle, Aragorn looked East and saw a white rider against the rising sun. "Gandalf." He whispered to himself. "Théoden king stands alone." Gandalf said softly and then Eomer came up from behind him on his horse. "Not alone." He said softly and then raised a hand. "Rohirrim!!" He yelled. Then, his riders moved up behind the both of them. King Theoden managed to look to where Aragorn was looking as well and his eyes widened a bit. "Éomer!" He exclaimed. Eomer nodded to his uncle, once catching sight of him and then raised his sword in the air. "To the king!" He yelled once more. The Rohirrim and the White Rider charged down the slope. Half the Uruk-hai army turned to face the challenge, bearing their spears down towards the riders. As the riders drew closer, the sun rose behind them, momentarily blinding the Uruk-hai, who rose their hands (and spears) to shield their eyes.

The riders crashed right into the Uruk-hai and engage them in battle.

Amara fought with all of her might in the battle; killing many Uruk-hai and not getting hit once. Her strength was up and her mind was fresh. Her sole focus was Legolas and their son and her main goal was to defeat anything Sauron related. She WOULD have her wonderful dream come true. She just knew it.
