Luna swallowed, her face going a slight shade lighter. She answered within her mind. "I am ready, My Lady, to see whatever it was that I have forgotten. Thank you." she held Lady Galadriel's eyes briefly, then turned back to her meal, finishing it. She sat, not sure what to do next.

Bit by bit the elves finished their food and left to continue on with their daily chores and routines. Soon it was just Celeborn, Galadriel, Haldir, Marylyn, Markus, Sirel and Luna left at the table. "Forgive me. I must leave and deal with some business. Feel free to explore." Celeborn said as he stood and left. Galadriel watched as he left. A mischievious grin spread across her fair face. "Luna? Care to join me for a stroll through the woods?" Her brow raised.
Markus smiled knowingly to Luna as he wiped the food from his mouth. "The meal was amazing as always my lady Galadriel," he said, relaxing back into his chair. "I can only imagine that it is the best meal you have had in a while," Marylyn murmured quietly. She eyes her brother curiously, eager to find out what had happened. She understood he would tell her when the time was right.

Luna nodded and stood. "Of course, my lady." she offered a small smile to Markus, then left to follow Galadriel. Her thoughts were on what was about to happen. What would she find out? How would everything turn out?

Galadriel stood and bowed to the companions still seated at the dinner table. "Sit long and talk much my friends." With graceful movements she turned from the table and walked over to a narrow path leading away into the forest, back to her quarters. Silently, she held her arm out to Luna. "Do not be afraid, Luna." She whispered softly as she started down the path, her barefeet leaving no prints to follow.

Luna took the lady's arm, and nodded. "I thank you again." she smiled shyly, feeling quite small in the presence of this great woman. She watched the path as she walked, careful to not trip or fall. She took a deep breath. Whatever she faced, she would be strong while she did it. She thought of Siriel and Markus, wondering what would happen to them. What would even happen to her? Would she be allowed to stay? Would she even want to after what she would see? Not knowing drove her crazy.

Galadriel brought Luna to a large clearing behind the tree they had climbed when they had first arrived. The clearing was beautiful. The sun broke through the gaps between the leaves and cast beams of light in all places around the clearing. A small stream flowed through it, the sound it emitted adding tranquility to the clearing. Galadriel crossed to a tall stone in the middle of the clearing. On top of this stone was a round, silver bowl. She took a silver jug from it and glided over to the stream. She filled the jug and poured it into the bowl. "Step up and look into the mirror when you are ready," she said taking a step back.

Luna walked up to the mirror and peered into it. At first all she saw was her reflection, then it changed. She saw a great battle, a male and she-elf fighting side by side. The she-elf bore a resemblance to herself. She saw the dark lord himself look at the she elf, who screamed something to the male. They both ran back to what looked like a camp. The tents were on fire. They ran to one tent, where a little girl was. Luna gasped as she recognize herself as an elf child. Her mother grabbed her, then screamed and practically threw her to her father who stood outside. The tent came down on her mother. Her father watched, a horrified look on his face. He slowly set Luna down, then took his own sword and pierced his heart. Luna shakily stepped back from the mirror, tears running down her face.

Galadriel set the jug down on the ground and walked over to Luna. "I am sorry Luna," was all she could say. Her hand raised to wipe away Luna's tears. "I am so sorry you had to see that."

"I don't even remember...how could I not remember?" she whispered, her eyes focused on the memory of watching herself become an orphan. Of watching her mother and father perish. She raised a shaky hand to cover her mouth.

"The mind does what it must to protect itself Luna. The mind is a very strange thing. No one can be sure what happened, but I would venture to say you forgot in order to protect yourself from the pain you feel now. You were so young Luna." Galadriel spoke softly, her voice layered with sympathy and sorrow.

"But to forget my parents.." her voice trailed off. She had remembered the look of clueless fright on her young face. It didn't make sense to her how she could forget them so easily.

"The mind works in mysterious ways." Galadriel said simply. "Is there anything I can get you Luna? Is there anything I can do for you?" She asked. Galadriel could not even begin to imagine what Luna was going through. The pain that must be tearing at her.

"no...I...need to go for a walk..." she began the journey back to where the others were, a dumbstruck look on her face as she walked. She felt betrayed, hurt, and sorrow struck her like a knife to the heart.

Galadriel simply nodded. "If you need anything all you need to do is ask." Galadriel bowed her head to Luna and disappeared up to her quarters. Her hands twisted around themselves in a nervous fashion. She worried about Luna. She knew she would keep an eye on her for the time being.
Markus looked up at the sound of approaching footsteps. "Luna? Are you alright?" He asked noting the hurt expression upon her face. Markus surmised that what she had seen in the mirror had not been good or what she had expected. He grimaced slightly.

Luna could only look at Markus. She couldn't speak. She couldn't breathe. All she could see was her mother burning and her father killing himself. She opened her mouth as if to speak, but no words came.

Markus stood and in the next moment had Luna in his arms. "Shh," he said soothingly. "It'll be alright," he said softly, holding her close to him. Marylyn watched from Haldir's arms frowning deeply. The mirror was a powerful object, but dangerous. She found this out all on her own. Never again has she pondered the past or the future.
