Miranda smiled and lay back in bed, sighing and staring at the ceiling. Suddenly, Michael, Catherine's brother, ran into the house. "The Brits! The Brits! The British crown has ordered them to leave the Continent!"
Miranda looked at Gabriel with a look of relief, as if to say, 'Finally...' then at Elizabeth.

Miranda recovered from the shot, but was thought not to be able to have any children. She - miraculously - had two daughters and one son. She died in Charleston in 1821.

Elizabeth raised Jacqueline into a fine young lady, and when Jacqueline was seventeen years old, her mother died of pnenomia. Jacqueline married Gabriel and Miranda's son and they had three children.
