Freedom. That was all Matt Sommer could think of. From the moment that his dad's expensive car drove off Matt had been in high spirits. He deeply inhaled the smoke of his cigarette, enjoying every moment of his nicotine shot, not even caring that he was standing in the middle of the road.
He'd never thought that he would actually long to return to Winbrook but after last year he did, although he would never admit it. At Winbrook he could do as he pleased with the least possible surveillance.

Feeling very content Matt dropped his skateboard on the floor and rolled towards the main entrance of the boarding school, his cigarette pressed between his lips and his bag filled with a new stash of tabacco and pot. A song played at the highest volume on his cell phone as he rolled along. Persuading his father to handover his skateboard had been the hardest task of his preparations for returning to Winbrook. After a fight they eventually came to a deal: Matt would spend Christmas and Eastern at Winbrook than he would get his skateboard.

Matt smiled, believing he really got the better end of the deal and thought he made a great negotiator. The teachers he passed threw him some disgusted looks as they probably disaproved his complete appearance and Matt sighed satisfied. He was back.

Morgana stalked towards the main school building, a battered black suede shoulderbag slung over her slim shoulders. Strands of her long, curly black hair fluttered in the wind, and her worn old violet Doc Martens thudded along the stone paving of the courtyard.

She wore the normal school uniform every student wore, but she accessorised it with her own alterations. Dreamcatcher earrings swung from her ears, and a Celtic-style pendant hung at the base of her white throat, beautiful and unusual, crafted with many intricate knots and swirls. Morgana didn't care for the handbags, makeup and accessories most girls her age prized. She was determined to go her own way in everything; this was evident by the stony expression she always wore.

Under her arm were clenched a small stack of books. A tattered copy of "Paradise Lost" by John Milton was wedged next to her elbow. A homemade bookmark, embroidered and edged with feathers, showed that she was more than halfway through. Alongside this were a few other favourites. Morgana loved reading. But more than anything she loved Arthurian tales; her mother had brought her up with a diet of mythical and strange books - whilst other toddlers had grown up with nursery ryhmes, Morgana had been listening to tales of Merlin, Guinevere and Arthur with rapt fascination.

(I'm going to make my characters cousins instead of siblings, if that's alright)

The Brooks brood of cousins walked along the pathway, talking in the loud fashion of southern Americans that they were so proud to be. The oldest - Olivia and Claire had the a stronger twang reminiscent of their mother's own Cajun dialect.

While Elizabeth and Marie were Tennessee all the way. As always they tried to break into the previous conversation with their own interjection, causing the talk to become louder and louder as they tried to out talk one another.

Marie, Claire and Elizabeth the three youngest of the group walked with linked arms, the blonde Elizabeth sandwiched between the taller brunettes in what they deemed an oreo-like formation.

Olivia, the oldest, was walking backwards to face her younger sibling and cousins, her arms moving about wildly with her expressive story - telling; she was the best for that as all her family (extended or otherwise) knew - always enthusiastic, adding in facial expressions and voices. Whatever the story entailed it ended with a song verse which - of course - caused the rest of the girls to cut in and sing along.

"What is it?" Olivia growled in a strange froggish tone imitating Faith No More's Epic.

"It's it!" Claire - the more in tune with her sister's song choices than her cousins, but soon the other girls joined in and it caused another fit of laughter on their part.

"I can' believe you did that, Olivia!" Squealed Marie in her pretty southern belle tone. "You're so bad," she said with a laugh.

"WAKE UP, YOU BLOODY-"

And that is when the pain came.

"OY!" Henry exclaimed as he attempted to open his eyes from his bed. His attempt became a failure due to when he opened his eyes, they still saw blackness. Am I blind? He suddenly thought, but the extra weight on his stomach proved him otherwise, and Henry pushed William off from on top of him with a hard shove.

"Geezus, William, how many donuts do you consume in a day?" He complained jokefully as he could finally see and Henry looked down at his twin, who was lying on the floor, grinning.

"Only enough so that I can wake your lazy butt up in the mornings, and still keep a fine figure for the ladies." That remark got a pillow thrown at William, which he easily dodged. William stood, still smiling, saying as he turned to leave, "You have 10 minutes to get ready and then I am leaving. We start our life again today..." He paused for a moment at the door, looking down at the ground and then back at Henry. "Will you be ready for it?" Henry, looking straight back at William, said,

"Will you?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The twins pulled up to their school in a old car, black as smoke with very nice silver wheels. The pulled in the back of the school, William driving while Henry prayed that they would survive.
"William, one day, you should learn to drive legally."
"And the fun of that would be...?" William asked with a grin as Henry punched him lightly in the arm. "Come on, lets go." William said, laughing slightly as he got out of the car. William put the keys in jeans pockets after locking the car, his pale blond hair spiked up slightly, shining against his slightly tanned skin and black and white shirt. Henry, on the other hand, wore a pair of lightly faded black jeans that reflected his pure white hair pefectly, as well as his blue eyes. Together, with their bags slung over their shoulders in the same fashion, the twins walked back into their past, the only way to go forward into their future.
Laraina hopped out of the big red 1993 F-150. She literaly had to jump down out of it because of her short stature and slim figure. She reached to the middle seat to pull out her small pile of books. One was a sketch book that even the cover had been doodled on. There was an old copy of Black Beauty and the Sword of Shannara, two of her favorite books. She slammed the door close, and locked the truck with her key.
She slowly walked through the parking lot, taking her time going to the Academy. What had been her whole world two years ago. Only, this time she didn't have Donovan. He transferred to another school so he could major in sports. The redhead's converse were silent on the ground as she walked, hugging her books to her mostly-flat chest. Her long fire-colored hair was held up with a big clip, most of it toppling out the top and down to brush her shoulders. Her body was devoid of any jewelry with the exception of a small necklace with a charm shaped like a puzzle piece that said 'sister'. Donovan had the other piece and it said 'brother'.
With a sigh she entered the front of the school, a draft of the familiar musty air almost knocking her back with it's chillness. Looking around she saw a few faces she recognized, but being the quiet type, didn't approach anyone. Instead she went on walking down the hall.
~~~~~~

Cole trotted down the sidewalk from the dorm building, a backpack slung over one shoulder full of who knows what. He glanced up at faces he passed, but otherwise kept his blue eyes down on the ground, and hands in his deep pockets. He felt the morning sun beating down on his pale skin. This was his first year ever at Winbrook Academy. It would be his third school in the past four years. There were many reasons for switching school, one major reason was his mom.

With a sigh, he shook that thought from his head, and looked forward to the days events...

Kira plopped down on a bench in the middle of the lawn in front of the main schoolyard with the photo album in her hands. Dropping it upon her legs, she glided the top with her fingers before opening it up to an encyclopedia of names from the students. Her keys were tucked away in her pocket, and her mind drifted off to her lovely room slightly. However, she, then, realized that there were much bigger fish in the sea.

Crossing her legs and scanning the photos one by one, Kira began the daunting task of labeling who was returning and who wasn't. Every picture was formerly labeled with a green, yellow, or red sticker, meaning whether the person was a great friend, someone she would say hi to, or someone to divert all together. Slowly, but surely, she began to stick a white circle on the students she saw.

Pages are being covered up. This was an elongated task, but it was necessary for the likes of people named Jake Newcomb, Austin Arkman, Melissa Dumbell, and the like. Each one of them had a red dot next to them, with the exceptions of the especially dangerous students with two. Those were limited, but deadly.

Sighing, Kira was delighted to see an overwhelming amount of green stickers. Morgana White strolled past her with a book in her hands. The books were what moved the girl from yellow to green. It was nice to know you could talk to someone, but, when talking back, they would rather be silent and read than give advice. Another green start passed by in the distance, William No-last-name. He was cool. Kinda annoying, but fun when you pull together as a common ally. Laraina Whatever-her-name-was was next. Kira gladly placed the sticker next her name. "Not as good as green, but I could do much..." Kira's thought was cut off with the rolling of wheels in the distance. It typically wouldn't have bothered her. After all, there were sure to be some preppy skater boys at the school, but, the moment Kira smelt the drugs and heard the horrid taste in music as he passed by, she knew she was in trouble.

Instead of going on ahead into the main building of Winbrook Academy, the course it looked like she had been planning, Morgana swerved away from the doors and went straight along the courtyard to a bench beside one of the trees. Why go inside straight ahead? It wasn't like the first day back was going to be interesting. The bench beside the tree was her favourite spot.

She made herself comfortable on the wooden bench, putting down her books and unshouldering her bag. The tree gave her shade, and it was fairly quiet here, despite the students returning. Morgana lovingly picked up "Paradise Lost" and smoothed the already crumpled with age cover. She opened it at where she had last broken off her reading.

In a rare moment of interest, Morgana peered up from her book, frosty blue eyes surveying the courtyard towards Kira Marshall, who sat on another bench in the middle of the lawn. She had a book on her lap and was involved in some task involving stickers, though Morgana couldn't guess what.
Her interest swerved immediately back to her books. Books, to her, were more interesting than people. And she was particularly absorbed in this book. It was about angels kicked out from heaven. They didn't fit in either. Outcasts.

Morgana could recognise some of the students walking along the courtyard by their voices. She might look up occasionally, but it wasn't like she was going to jump up eagerly to people and yell "hi" as a sign of friendship. She didn't have any friends. And at the moment, she just didn't care.

Matt strode back outside after dumping his stuff in his dorm. It had been a beautiful day and most of the students were spending their time outside in the courtyard. He had recognised old but mainly new faces who were still blessed with their ignorance of his reputation.

He strolled around with a wide grin, his pockets stuffed with his newest purchase. The volume of his cell turned off as he did not want his phone to be taken on his first day. Matt sneaked behind a small bush with the view on his first targets: a black-haired girl on a bench who'd been captivated by her book and on the other side of the lawn a very familiar person: Kira Marshall.

From his pocket he delved two bright colored balloons which were filled with water. Shaking with soundless laughter he threw the first waterballoon which flew with a gracious bow towards Morgana, exploding on her book with a huge splash of water. Directly after the first attack the second ballon flew through the air aiming for Kira's head.

Matt waited for a few seconds, listening with closed eyes and a satisfied smile to Kira's scream before sneaking away from hhis hiding place.

Morgana stared with astonishment at the exploded water balloon which had burst onto her beloved book. Her blue eyes were very wide. After a few moments of shock, her eyes narrowed in what looked a lot like anger. Slowly, she rose from her bench and, clutching her book, scanned the courtyard before spotting Matt. His other target had been Kira; the other balloon had targeted her head, but Morgana considered her book of much more importance.

"You!" Morgana pointed an accusing, chipped black nail varnished hand at Matt. "This book is over twenty years old, you anti-social vandal!" Her voice was carried over to him like ice. She was beyond furious.

Sprinting up to her feet, Kira clutched her book in her hands with her eyes flaming red. He didn't need to hide. She would find him. Breathing heavily, she quickly caught a glance at his other victim. Relieved by her screaming, Kira took a deep breath. Her hair was dripping wet in the back, and, if it were two days earlier, (from Kira getting a perm earlier that week), Matt was dead. But, this time, he was just annoying, like always.

Combing through her wet hair, Kira held her book in her hands and left and headed towards the library, hoping that he would not have the guts to follow. Or, if he did, his face would be in the direct line of a punch.

Olivia locked eyes for a moment with her sister who rolled her eyes. Child's play, but the screeching was guaranteed not to stop until the girl's were appeased with something.

Oivia, the book fan that she was, decided to help out Morgana by taking off her standard Winbrook sweater and tossed it at the the black haired, goth inspired girl.

"Wipe it off with that," she said dryly - the girl's mood was decidedly cooler now that she was not talking with her family. Although very loud and comfortable with others, she was not quite inclined to really get to know them.

Cole trotted along the sidewalk toward the courtyard, his eyes still watching the ground. There was screaming ahead of him, so curiosity overpowered his will to be shy, and he looked up.

The sight he almost couldn't control himself from laughing at. A girl with a wet book throwing insults at a guy, and another girl with a large wetspot on her hair. Though she just walked away as if it never happened.

"So who's the awesome geniouse that brought waterbaloons to school?" he couldn't help but say out loud, having a hard time keeping the laughter out of his voice.

~~~~~
Laraina stepped out of the office with her room assignment and class schedule. To her luck she got the same single room she had two years before. With a sigh of happiness, she started walking down the hall toward the stairs that would bring her to the dorm wing.
On the way she paused at a water fountain to get a drink, what she didn't notice that it was leaking onto the floor from pipes underneath. So when she started in the direction again, her converse -having very little traction- slipped on the water. Next thing the redhead knew, she was on a bruised and wet but, and her books and papers scattered around her from her fall.
A little dizzy, from the sudden and unexpected rush, she tried stubbling to her feet, but clumsiness got the best of her and she found herself face first on the ground...
(Rain, Lariana and Kira should live on the same floor. :))
Kira's eyebrows fluttered in confusion. "What was this preposterous voice she heard?" She hadn't recognized it from earlier, but, from what it said, it surely sounded like it was a conspirator along with Matt. Dashing through her purse, Kira took out her camera and turned around to the direction of the voice. She quickly angled, set the lighting, and snapped a shot. Thirty seconds later, she had the photo and the camera back in her purse. Although, she stood for another half a minute, not sure whether to take his attitude from first-glance.
"Nah," Kira told herself, "What are you thinking?" With that, the boy was put on the red list as Kira walked away, once more, taking a cute hat off of a girl's head and covering her hair with it as she headed back to the library.
Morgana caught the sweater that Olivia threw at her. Frowning, she gave a small nod. "Thank you." She found herself a little hesitant to wipe her book with someone else's jumper - how could she give it back wet? - but her fear for the book's condition overcame it. She dabbed at the book carefully.
When the book was somewhat dryer, she held the sweater out to Olivia. "Um..." she paused. "Suffice to say, it's sort of wet." She turned at the sound of a boy laughing. She glared at Cole. Genius? Matt had completely drenched her beloved book.
Olivia laughed at the girl's comment. "I figured it would be. Slightly pointless if I gave you something that did not absorb water, right?" She asked, tossing the wet sweater into the quieter, Elizabeth's face who squealed in annoyance.
"Really, Liv...do you have to torment me after being nice?" She asked sullenly looking at her dampened blond locks.
"I feel it balances things out don't y'all think?" She teased while Claire gave an appreciative whoop before laughing at her cousin's misfortune of being quiet. Marie was the only one not to say anything louder than a giggle, but her face retained a red color from enjoyment of the joke.
"I'm Olivia Brooks, by the way," the girl said, rounding back on her heel to face Morgana once more. "Shorten it as you will. What's your name?"
Morgana laughed dryly, clutching her book close. She looked on as the sweater flew at Elizabeth's face and a family half-squabble broke out. She was about to turn away when Olivia turned back towards her and introduced herself before asking Morgana's own name.
"Morgana White." She was slightly surprised that someone actually wanted to engage in coversation with her; it wasn't normal.
