I'll join
Name:Lorraine "Raine" Channing
Age:17
Class:first
Traveling with:maid-Adele
Raine stood on the deck watching the waves roll by. Her golden red hair was blowing around her face and the wind was ruffling her long white dress. She was a little sad to be leaving her home country, France, for the first time. She had been to other places in Europe before on vacations, but she never stayed gone for good and she was never without her parents. Now her mother wanted her to go and be educated as an American woman. She sighed thinking she would never be good enough for her mother. Pushing away her negative thoughts, she threw her hands up in the air and leaned out over the railing. She laughed as she felt the the spray from the waves touch her face. "Miss Lorraine, Miss Lorraine," she heard her maid Adele say excitedly as she ran up beside her, "Don't lean out so far. If you are not careful you will be thrown over board." She turned to face Adele. "Don't you fret so much, Adele." she said playfully as she pushed a strand of her long red hair behind her ears. She leaned her back against the railing. "Does it make you nervous when I do this?" she asked as she put her hands into the air and leaned as far as she could across the railing. Adele nearly screamed in terror. "Stop that this instant! Your mother would die if she saw you. I don't think you'll ever be a proper young lady." Raine put on a fake pout and ran past the maid to go to her room below deck.
OCC: Sorry my post was kinda long. Oh well.

The Spence family was escorted to their suite in room 32A. Her father tipped the butler and gave his thanks before placing his briefcase onto the coffee table. "This is beautiful is it not?" He asked his family.
"Well it should be for the price we paid..." Alexandra's Uncle said in his typical pessimistic view. She loved her uncle very much and he was quite fun to be around, but he usually found something negative to say about everything.
"Why don't you two get settled in Lexa."
"Yes mother, come on Emily lets pick out our room" Emily smiled and ran through each room before picking her favorite one.

Name: Venn Smittsman
Age: 19
Class: low (not certain about the numbers)
Traveling with: Alone. His family were poor merchants in London. His richer uncle provided him a small fortune so he could get a job in America.
The European mainland grew smaller and smaller until it at last faded into the distance. Venn Smittsman clutched the railing with white knuckles as he watched his entire past and universe disappear into the horizon. No formal education, no wealthy claims, never been out of London in his life.... How in the bloody world was he to find a passing job in the Land of Opportunity?
He ran his tanned hand through his ragged brown hair and gazed towards the upper decks, where the nobles preened themselves. His hand clenched into a fist. He was on a ship - nevermind in the lowliest cabins and decks - bound for America. It was more than he could have ever dreamed for.

Once Alexandra had unloaded her clothes into mahogany drawers she decided to get a good view of the landscape she would be seeing for the next few weeks.
She left her rooms and walked up the stairs to the top deck where many people were out admiring the view and talking to one another. She searched around until she found a nice empty area where she could sit and think. She was thankful for her large-brimmed white hat which sheilded the sun from her eyes so that she was able to fully take in her surroundings.

When Raine reached her room, her things were already unpacked. "Adele must have done it while I was on the main deck," she muttered to herself. Although she was quite used to her pampered lifestyle, she still liked to do some things on her own and it annoyed her when Adele did not let her do those things. After only a few minutes alone in her room, she decided to seek out some company. She changed into her favorite white sundress. Instead of going to the main deck where she had been before, she decided to go to the lower decks. When she arrived at her destination, she gazed around for someone who she thought would be an interesting companion. A young man, who did not look too much older than her, standing at the railing, caught her eye. She walked over and stood next to him at the rail. "Hello," she said with a bright smile, "I am Raine Channing. What's your name?"

Venn whirled around, in his tension expecting an ambush or more. It was then that he saw a young woman in a white dress who could not be a lower class like him. Astounded that a highborn would even acknowledge him - it certainly had never happened in London, where nobles turned their noses up at him - Venn regained his composure and inclined his head.
"Madam," he greeted, wondering if he should kiss her hand.

Raine giggled softly when he the man called her Madam. "Please," she said still giggling a little, "call me Raine." She nervously tucked a peice of her red hair behind her ear. Although she was socialbe by nature and loved to meet new people, she was always a little uneasy when introducing herself.

Alexandra was looking around when she saw two small children, a older boy holding his sister's hand. They were facing the sun and created a beautiful shilouhette. Having nothing better to do she pulled out her sketchpad and charcoal and began to draw the little ones.

"Bloomin' unbelievable," Venn muttered in a lower class London accent the girl was certain to distinguish. "Venn Smittsman, pleased to meet your acquaintance, Raine."
He found his gaze drifting off once more in the direction of the European mainland. His sequestered past lay behind him. The Land of Opportunity extended her hand before him. Conversation would perhaps lighten his anxiety.
Wondering what a highborn young lady like Raine would be doing in the lower decks, Venn squeezed past the throng of people and found himself a bench. He gestured for her to sit.
"Ye from London, Raine?"

"I'm plesed to make your acquaintence also, Venn," Raine said happily. She took a seat next to him on the bench. When he asked her if she was from London, she replied, "No I am from France. My father is from London, though, and I have been there a few times." She paused thinking about what it would be like in America. "Are you happy about going to America?" she asked.

Venn shrugged as he shook the windblown hair out of his eyes. He twiddled his thumbs for a while before meeting Raine's eyes.
"I s'pose," he admitted. "My parents ain't that well off, I've got no formal education...." He trailed off and looked at her earnestly. "Frankly I'm wonderin' how I'm bloody supposed to get a decent job. What about you?"

Raine watched Venn with concern in her eyes as he answered. "I'm sure you will do fine," she said after a pause,"After all America is said to be the land of oppurtunities. Who knows what may happen once we get there." She sighed and looked out across the ocean before answering whether or not she was happy about going to America. Finally she forced a laugh and said,"I'm not quite sure how I feel about everything. I guess I am hppy to see a new part of the world and to get away from an overbearing family, but I will miss my home country very much. I am to be sent to an all girls school where I will get the education of an American woman. Mother says it will "broaden my horizans."" Raine began to twirl a peice of her red hair absently as she thought about what it would be like at an all girl American school.

Alexandra was half-way finished with her sketch when the little children ran to their parents. 100-watt smiles on both faces. She couldn't help but smile back thinking of her relationship with her own family and sister.
She loved her sister very much and couldn't imagine a life without her. A few years ago it was not like this, her and her younger sister never got along, but when Emily came down with a rare illness and almost died they were brought closer than ever. She was now grateful for everything she had and was very excited to be moving to the new world.
