Thanks Goldie!
Really I love your banner so much! I just can't stop looking at it.. I might request PDie a Luthor banner, if you could provide some pics of Luthien?
And the OC I've been thinking about.. I thought that it might be fun to have her be connected to Cairbre's past somehow.. I already picked an actress for her: Sophia Miles.

Oh noooo! Did she? I never check those lists, I only keep in mind which active OC's there are..
And of course I know that Cairbre is sticked with super glue to Guin.. I thought she could be something of a lost good friend (a relationship between Lizzie and Bingley or so ). She'll reflect on Cairbre's character and foolishness.. perhaps might confront him with that he doesn't see? Only if you think that's a nice idea of course. She might know Cairbre from his time in Ireland or later?
Hurray for the Luthien pics! *rushes over to the SN thread*

Well, you could always ask Pan what she thinks about it, or you could go hunting for another actress if it’s not alright with her. =)
Anyhoo, I’ll just give you a quick run-over of Cairbre’s past, and then I’ll go over my ideas about this. =) Apologies if you know all this already!
Cairbre and his sister Rosalind were born in England to a wealthy family with Irish roots. Their father was both violent and mentally abusive towards their mother, who died when they were both teenagers. Once she was gone he started hitting them too, so eleven years before the RPs, they ran away to the Caribbean, effectively disowning themselves. A year later Cairbre met Guin. So, Cairbre didn’t leave England out of any sort of foolishness, there were good reasons behind it – so I don’t really get what you mean by confronting him with what he doesn’t see *thinks* It depends on which RP this would be in – like for instance, if this storyline was in BOAP, do you mean she’d be confronting Cairbre with the fact that Guin actually does have feelings for him despite not being aware of it, and despite her feelings for Liam? I’m a bit lost here. But if that’s what you mean, and this would be in BOAP, it might be a cool idea if your character points out hints in Guin’s behaviour that show her feelings for Cairbre
Anyway! Using the time period of about eleven years ago, here’s another possible idea. Perhaps your charrie could have been a daughter of a rich friend of the family? Their parents might have secretly wanted them to marry, to tie the families together, but Cairbre would never have been keen on the idea. Maybe they didn’t know each other very well, and Cairbre was far too preoccupied dealing with family issues to notice her. Plus, there would be the lack of any attraction. Your idea of them having been friends might be better though, I don’t know.
This is all what-iffing and hypothesis-ing at the moment. Let me know what you think of these ideas! =) And whether this would be BOAP or KAWEOTH, of course. I’m sorry for rambling so much

@Will: I do not mind at all if you use Sophia Myles for your PotC OC. The way I think of OCs is that they separated by the world they live in... let me explain better. Since I am using Sophia in the LotR world, she will never cross into the PotC world hence no conflicts
That's why I never mind if someone uses an actor/actress I am using as long as it is used for a different world.
In the end there are so few actors/actresses right for the characters we come up with so yea Enjoy Sophia in the PotC world

@ Goldy:
Cairbre's history sounds really familiar, so I guess I already read somewhere or you already told me about it.. And I meant that Cairbre is sort of blind for Guin's hesitations and feelings, and my OC could kind of reflect on their behaviour. So yes, like you said, she could help him understand her more. Let alone that another woman in the plot may make things more complicated.. Perhaps not for Cairbre, but maybe for Liam..?
Hmm, I didn't exactly know when Cairbre met Guin, so I figured they could have met after Cairbre and Roslind left their home and before they met Guin. But what if she was the sister of a good friend of his back in England? And I think BOAP will be the best RPG to fit her in.. especially since Cairbre is in a depressed/broken heart-kind of mood.
Oh! I just watched CotBP on tv and I really feel like posting. So, look out for a post from me soon..
@ Lothy:
Ah I'm relieved.. I really love that this thread/the RPGs/the general pirateyness on AU has been revived again!
And Mumford and Sons are epic! I LOVE their music! The Cave and Thistles and Weeds are my favourites by far.
@ Rest:
So since my father studied history, I asked him about the time setting of Pirates when the movie was on tv. As we'd discussed the time setting here, I just wondered if he could place it and he said that judging from the clothing of the Redcoats and officers, which he compared to other known persons in history, it probably would be pre-Napoleontic time, like the end of the 18th century.
EDIT:
@ Panda:
THANK YOU!! I completetly understand the OC's world theory and I absolutely agree with it! Have I ever met that LOTR character? Did you use her in Sleepless Malice? That was a great RP!
Yay! I'm a very happy Will now!

@Will: You are most welcome dear. I know how frustrating it can be to have your heart set on a certain actress/actor and be told that you can't use them because they are already taken in a different world... xD Anyway, yes she was in A Sleepless Malice. I really miss that RP as well, I actually want to join one but I haven't seen any new ones lately...
I doubt many people would want to play a LotR RP these days...
@Everyone: There was a Pirates episode on the History Channel today, I only caught the end but from what I got from it was that the episode went through the Golden Age of Piracy... I'll have to look for it!

@Will :: It's interesting you should bring the subject of when the movies were set back up actually as I was reading up on the subject only today. I have come to the conclusion that disney don't have a @$&£%$£@ clue about anything.
As Aramel mentioned earlier, the 'Golden Age' of Piracy spanned from the late 17th century to about 1720. This was the time when pirates such as Henry Morgan, Bartholomew 'Black Bart' Roberts, 'Calico' Jack Rackham and Edward 'Blackbeard' Teach all had their haydays.
One of the most important facts that Disney either ignored or didn't research into enough was the fact that Port Royal was destroyed by an earthquake in 1692. So there should have been a lot of repair work going on in the movies.
As for the clothing, it all seems quite mismatched to me, taking styles from both the early and late Georgian period.
Basically by the end of the 18th Century (1700s for the easily confused like me) piracy like in the movies was pretty much dead.
@Goldy :: Indeed they do, I have the book they published and currently have my eye on their new one about historical underwear.

^I tend to agree with that regarding the date issues. although I don't know if the movies should have shown THAT much repair work 'cause if the earthquake happened in 1692 then the movies take place (I guess?) in 1718... that's over 10 years to repair the place. Seems like it should've been pretty well set straight. *shrugs*
Anyways, so... that's all from me. I'm feeling sort of braindead today. oh well.
I should reply to BOAP...
