So, since I never discovered the button to reply a PM to multiple persons, I will post my ideas of your proposal here, so that everyone can read it. :)

I’m personally against moving our beloved RPGs to another site. My first question is what actually the purpose is of such a removal? KAWEOTH , the RPG where it all started, came from the thoughts of AUers, and although Annie is not on here anymore, I think that some RPGs are still watched by non-RPGers, like some have said.
I think it’s not a good plan to do this and my reasons why I think that, largely concern myself. I used to be participant of many forums of all different topics and fandoms, but when you get older (woah, don’t I sound like a really old person now..?) you’re going to prioritize and I eventually ended up being on AU only. Live kicks in, you go to Uni, do internships in companies, have boyfriends, and time to come on Forums become very scarce. But I love AU, and I love the many RPGs that I’m involved with. And I’m committed to stay on AU. To move these RPGs to another site would mean that I lose my connection with AU: when I come here to check on RP’s I also check on other threads, I PM people about characters or other random stuff and I’m just on AU, being there. And I don’t want to lose that, because frankly I don’t have the time to get involved on a new site, getting to know new people. Perhaps I haven’t really understood what you mean with “a new RPG based site” and that it perhaps is only run by the seven of us, but then, what’s the point of moving it?
So I’m hoping, or actually begging you not to do that, because I would either would lose my connection with AU, or you would lose me as RPG player, because I do not want to get on another site. I’m sorry that I might sound harsh, but that’s just how I feel about it. These RPGs connect met with you guys, here on AU, and with the rest of the Forum and I really would like to keep that. :)

Will, thank you for putting into words a lot of stuff I wanted to say! I really don't want the RPs to be moved either. PDie, I sent you a reply PM, and I'm just going to post a bit of it here so I don't have to repeat myself =)

Quote:

I’m sorry to sound all gloomy and not encouraging, but I’m not sure I’d like to just start RPing on a different board. I’m so fond of A-U, and the RPs are nearly the only things I get involved in here. So if they were just moved somewhere else I’d go from lurking RPer to just plain lurker, and that thought makes me kind of sad. So I really would like to keep our RPs here. :hide: =) Also, if we moved them, I think that Sharky's End would start looking very cold, empty and unloved, and would v.probably die. :( Which wouldn't help the A-U revival at all - and we all want A-U to start looking more alive again! <3

Like Will, the RPGs are my connection to A-U. :pirate: I'm not involved in much else here but the RPs. This forum is like a second home to me, and the awesome, epic RPs is part of what makes it so special to me personally. I wish I could be more eloquent about it, but somehow I'm not very good at putting it into words exactly why I think the POTC RPs belong here. They began here, they're part of A-U. :-D

*Clears throat* So yes, that's my opinion =)

Woah! I'm so glad the forum is back to normal! I was desperate to post a reply to your PM and it took me like two hours before I got it up (because it just wouldn't load for me) and then somehow the forum posted my post 5 times or so. And I spend the complete afternoon trying to delete them, which I couldn't, so sorry for my mess. :P

But I'm glad you agree with me. The PM really got me panicked right before my exam.. (which went great by the way. :P )

I understand where you both are coming from. I am in my senior year of college and am to begin student teaching in a few weeks. I know the that time restraints exist and that everyone has a life outside of AU (though at times it doesn't seem like I do).

I am able to be apart of several forums, go to bars, hang out with friends, plan lessons, and teach high school students. I know not everyone has this luxury but I am just saying that it is possible. But of course that is just me and my want to be a part of different forums and keep myself in certain fandoms that I can't really have amongst my friends.

Anywho, with all of that said I see the benefits of moving the RPs to a new site.

-It will make for a more organized setting.

-This board is first and foremost an AU/LotR forum and I do wish to get the chance to liven this place up with more LotR things rather than more PotC.

-We can find other PotC boards and PotC lovers and bring them into the world we have created.

Personally I feel that we have dominated AU with our PotCness (not that that is a bad thing whatsoever since we are allowed to have different likes and speak about them freely here). It'd just be nice to have our own personal PotC world as well... I don't know, this is all just my opinion.

I do not mean to sound harsh or anything. I can honestly see your points, Will and Goldy, and I agree whole heartedly with what you are saying. I just think a new board will bring a fresh start and a more clean look to our RPs :)

Well guys I'm going to take a deep breath and try to do this calmly...

I want to see our roleplays expanded. At the moment it's just the seven of us playing the same old stories, not really getting very far very quickly. We have the potential to create an amazing thing here and discover many more like minded, skilled RPers who could bring a lot to our world. But here isn't the place to do it. We are pretty much free-loading off AU.

There will be rules and an application process for new RPers, so not just any old Mary-Sue can join. It'll be aimed at experienced RPers only. The Canon characters will only be played by the moderators (who are us basically) and any affiliation with the canon characters will be scrutinised thoroughly.

The site won't be launched to the public until we are happy with the way it looks, is organised and is worded.

This could be something very beautiful and fantastic, if it was only given a chance.

I think the only way for you to see what we mean is to see the site as it stands so far. Considering it was only created Wednesday I'd say it's not looking too shabby, with a lot of help from Ammy of course.

http://runningwiththetide.proboards.com/index.cgi

There's still a lot of things to do obviously, but we would really love for you guys to be on board with this. See the potential, please?

Okay, I didn't realise that your plans had taken such solid shape already. Does this mean that everything is already fixed and decided? To be honest, I hope that my opinion (and those of others) can still influence these plans.

Concerning the benefits of a new RPG forum:
- Organized setting: Personally I think there's anything wrong with the current setting of RPGs, we could ask the mods to clean up old RPGs, but those will disappear from the page.
- Too much POTC, not enough LOTR: The lack of LotR RPGs are not caused by too many POTC RPs, it depends on the pood of the current RPGers, and since we seem the hardcore base of RPGers (and our favourite fandom is POTC) this will remain the same. It also depends on the time people have. With 3 POTC RPGs, 1 Off-topic and 1 LOTR RPG, I have my hands full.. but if I had more time, I would really love a new LOTR RPG. What do I want to say with this: the removal of the POTC RPs will not lead to more LOTR RPs, only the ruin of Sharky's End.
- New players, new thoughts: Again, my opnion is that what we have now is a brilliant club of writers. Add more writers to an RPG and it will take even MORE time to get things moving. Next to that I think that it's rare to find talented writers, and to the main part of new RPGers post only mediocore posts. I, for one, don't have the need for other non-AU RPG players..

I just want you to know that if I had more time available that I really would give it a shot (even with regard to my criticism of the points of above). Sadly I do not have much time. I love this Forum, I love its contests, topics, threads, its members and RPGs. Therefore I love to make the time to come on here and RPG.

But I kind of feel that I'm now forced to make a choice. (Since I don't have the time to join another forum). It's a cruel choice to make me choose between my lovely characters and RPGs in which I've put so much effort and time or AU. I've promised in the Revival threads to stick around here, and that I intend to do. So if you will remove the threads and start off on a new site, then you'll probably loose me as fellow RPG-player.
So I'm asking you not to leave.. Because then not my favourite RPGs and my favourite characters will disappear, but also my favourite fellow-RPGers.

:(

Guys, you’ve made a really beautiful forum, and I definitely appreciate your views. =) I’ve been kind of torn about this though. I don’t want to just repeat myself, so I’ll keep it short. =) I don’t want to seem mean or nasty – this is all just because I care so much about these RPs and our piratey community. <3 I’ve considered the pros and cons of all of this, and tried my best to think it all through properly. I really want to emphasize some points Will’s made, which I think are extremely valid… =)
The removal of the POTC RPs will not lead to more LOTR RPs, only the ruin of Sharky's End.
• Add more writers to an RPG and it will take even MORE time to get things moving.
• And the most important of all, we might lose Will! :(

I have thought about joining the new forum, and I must admit, it does look appealing. =) But try as I might, it’s difficult to put aside my concerns. I’m sure none of us want to lose Will – a valued and talented RPer. =) I myself would be devastated. :( I don’t want to sound dorky, but during the time we’ve RPed together we’ve really connected as RPers, as all of us have. Losing a member of the team, the family, would just be too horrible. So there are reasons for staying here. :) I’m not disregarding anything anyone’s said, and I’m definitely not being mean. Consider this parley, if you will, mates. :pirate:

EDIT:
PDie, I've just replied to your PM about your idea to keep the RPs we already have here on A-U! <3 Keeping FFE, BOAP, KAWEOTH, and WWWWR on A-U and having the new site for new RPs sounds like the best plan. =D As I've said I really like this idea, and Will does too. :-D Just so long as they didn't get forgotten ;)

Ahw Goldy you're so sweet!

Like I already said to Goldy, I think it's a good solution for you guys to start new RPGs there. I hope you won't forget about those on AU though.. :P But we'll make sure that you won't forget. ;) :pirate:

Well, it looks like this is the only way things are going to be accepted. Keep the old RPs on AU and move the Prompt Challenges over to Running With the Tide.

I can't even be bothered to make an argument over this. You guys have your opinions, we have ours, the RPs are staying and we will develop RWTT completely from scratch with new RPs ect. I just hope you guys can at least consider joining.

On a better note; Goldy I loved your WWWWR reply <3

I don't want this to turn into an argument... and I'm kinda sad that it's gotten to this point of Will saying she might leave. :( We have decided that we aren't moving the other RP's over, so that way everyone can be happy. Compromise is a difficult thing, but I do think we've managed to get this all sorted out. And who knows? Maybe one day Will and Goldy will both be able to come over to RWTT when they have more time and such.

For now I'm fine with having two sites - though I will probably be on RWTT more than AU, since all I really do here is RP anyway. :P I'll still try to be as dedicated to both as I can, and let me just say that through the opening of this new site, I've become so much more inspired for our roleplays!

And don't worry Will - we won't forget about these roleplays! How could we? Especially KAWEOTH! That Roleplay started it all and will forever be the dearest to me.

Posted for BoaP, it isn't much because honestly I am not really into that RP xD

What I would like to see is someone posting for KAWEOTH and FFE :)
