Post subject:  Orlando In Theatre!

Has anyone here been to see Orlando in theatre? I just have, he is the most incredible actor onstage. (At one point in the play he cries) And I will admit I was part of the mob that greeted him at the stage door. But it was worth it as I got his autograph!

i didn't even know he was performing on the stage at the moment. i've just looked the play up on the internet though, and it sounds pretty good. i've never been a big fan of orlando bloom on film, but i know he started with the national youth theatre, so i've always wondered what he'd be like on stage. i may have to book yet another trip down to london to see it (i'm already going twice in the next two weeks).

also, this may sound like a strange question, but what was the design (set, costumes etc) like? i'm always really interested in such things, and i love the work les brotherston (the show's designer) has done for matthew bourne.

ohh i love matthew bourne...
and its not a strange question, i'm a big fan of costumes.
Well the costumes are pretty standard late 1960's working class outfits. apart from 2 of the brothers who wear suits.
and the set is like the front room of a house (looks kind of 50's) with part of a kitchen and a staircase. there is also an upstairs which has the brothers bedroom and part of parents room, its on a slight angle so you can't see much of the parents room (just the corner really). i'll post some pics I've got later. they are mostly of orlando but you can see a bit of the set and some of the costumes

^ yay, another bourne fan! i have his swan lake, nutcracker! and car man on dvd, and i absolutely adore all of them. his choreography is just so passionate and exciting, and i'm completely in love with adam cooper (the swan/the stranger in swan lake) and will kemp (angelo in the car man).

anyhow, back to topic...i'd love to see some pics. the set sounds great.

Matthew Bourne wise I've never seen Car Man, only Swan Lake and the Nutcracker. I love his Swan Lake...

those pictures look great, aranel. from what i can see, and from what you've told me, the set reminds me a little of the one for the production of the birthday party i saw couple of years ago.

and i adore bourne's swan lake - i must have watched the dvd about 20 times in the past 6 months. using male dancers to play the swans was a stroke of genius.

I think the "Legolas" smooth-shaven look was better. But yeah that's still him underneath the mustache! ;)
