This might just be for the English here... Sean Bean was in a series taken from the Sharpe books, about the Napoleonic wars... Am I the only one OLD ENOUGH to remember this?? They were amazing!

I've never seen the series, but I think his joke about Narsil in FotR ("Still sharp(e)") is hilarious And from the pictures I've seen from the series, Mr. Bean didn't look too shabby in the role

According to the teletext on ITV this morning, Sean Bean is going to do some more episodes of Sharpe soon - they will be filming in India, although it didn't say if the stories were set there or if they were just filming there pretending to be in Spain or whatever.
I don't know if that is true, but ITV is the channel that showed all of the other episodes, so hopefully we will be seeing a little more of Sharpe in the near(ish) future.

I actually have never seem them but I know how popular they are. ITV have just shown one of a new batch of episodes so there's likely to be more in the future.

No Tirelen, you're not the only one old enough to remember it.
Sharpe was awesome. I loved it. I want to get my hands on the complete box set.But it's pricey, even in a sale.
Roll on the new one.

I love Sharpe, my dad used to watch them when they where on tv, I was too young to really appreciate them, although I watch them now on DVD.
Sharpe's Challange was a nice treat when it was on tv!

Yeah, the library here in Covina has a few of them. I don't think that many people watch them though *sigh* What a shame. The show was awsome beyond belief.
I'm really glad that Sean decided to do Sharpe's Challenge.

For an American it was REAL expensive My dad and I bought in for like 60 GBP (I believe, I'll figure it out tomorrow. My dad has the exact price, but he is asleep.) when I was in England that's like, 120-150 USD. I'm glad that it was on sale.
Sharpe is such an awsome series! I'm going to watch one of the episodes tomorrow. Another thing I liked about Sharpe was it's one role to where Sean doesn't die I agree with you Ladykate, Sean looks so HOT as Sharpe.
