I didnt' see a thread for this, at which I was very surprised but this is for the discussion of Urban's upcoming new film, Star Trek XI in which he plays Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy. *squees*

Guh! I've been meaning to make a thread about this for ages and after the rather tepid response to the movie thread I gave up hope.
But yeah..nuff bout that. I think Karl is going to make a very excellent 'Bones'. I think he's going to do great justice to the role and really honour De Forest Kelly's memory.

I've only seen him in LOTR *because those are about the only decent ones I can watch\want to watch.* but I do have a bit of a crush on him...not as much as the one I have on Ben Barnes though, lol.

No reason in particular, mainly because it's so old idk lol.
It's not like I don't like it or anything like that, I've never really watched it, just all in good fun.

Yes, but ST *the original and the other series* have contributed greatly to the medical and science fields. You should watch an episode from each series, even though I don't know if you can even watch Deep Space Nine, the animated original series, or Enterprise without having to be up at like 1 in the morning, lol. My favorite series is Voyager, but TOS is a very close second. bones is my favorite character.

You may be able to watch some full-length ST episodes at www.startrek.com.
There are some interviews of Karl for ST; just go to youtube and search for star trek xi or karl urban....it'll probably show up either way.

Okay so now that Star Trek is out on dvd, y'all's thoughts on Karl????
I absolutely loved him in this movie! From the first time I saw him on screen, I KNEW he was perfect to play Bones. He has some of the best lines in the whole movie....especially, "Are you out of your Vulcan mind?!"

Haha, I'm Southern too! And his facial expressions are what made me really believe in him as Bones.

He also pulled of the "OMG! I'm gonna die from space something!" stuff. It was epic.

Haha, yeah.
"Don't pander to me kid; one crack in the hull and our blood boils in 13 seconds. A solar flare might crop up, cook us in our seats. And wait till you're sitting pretty with a case of Andorian shingles. See if you're still so relaxed when your eyeballs are bleeding. Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence."
L-O-V-E that scene.
