I've recently viewed this movie and it is very heartfelt and moving. Yet the beginning is absolutely hilarious.

Elijah Wood plays Jonfen (Jonathan), who is a Jewish American, and he travels to the Ukraine to look for the woman who helped his grandfather from the Nazis.


Has anyone else seen this?

Oh my god...this movie was SO amazing. Really funny, yet really emotionally powerful. Elijah basically rocked in this movie...and he didn't really need those glasses... Ha ha ha. The book is supposed to be REALLY good....just haven't had a chance to read it.

I've been wanting to see it so much! But it didn't come out in any cinema's near here. And the DVD hire shop I usually go to is fairly small, and didn't have it.
I'm having a movie night for my b-day, though, and I'll be going to a bigger place to get a few DVD's. Do people think it would be a good movie for a bunch of teenage girls? Some of us are into those sort of films, but do you think it could hold the attention of the rest?

I haven't seen it, but I'd like to. It looks good.

I started watching it yesterday, on my b'day with a friend. We didn't get to finish it, but are going to do so this afternoon. It is so good though! And Lij rocks, as usual. As Kit said, it was very moving, and hearfelt.
And the music does rock. I can't wait to see the end of it! It was so good.

And my friend said that she didn't normally like those types of film, but is loving this. So thats a credit to everyone involved in the film.

It's an awesome film that even stands up to repeated viewings. I own the soundtrack and my mom owns the dvd. She also read the novel it's based on, but hated it.

I saw it in theaters and loved it. I think i would have liked it even without any outside reason (a.k.a Elijah ). When my mom and I came back outside, I was illuminated along with everything else, lol. Celebwen, I'm not sure. It might be good to watch...it sort of depends on your friends. Let me warn you--there are a couple PG-13 moments in the film. But other than that, in my opinion it's wonderful. I've taken to saying "premium" (a word that a non native English speaker in the movie uses somewhat incorrectly, but hilariously) instead of cool.

As soon as I watched the movie, I went and bought it. I'm a HUGE Elijah fan, and I have to have everyone of his movies If you watched it on DVD did you watch thge extra features too? They were hilarious! That's why I made my banner.

I saw it and it was AWESOME! The whole thing was just so cool, but it was so touching it had an almost eerie feel to it. I loved the vegetarian part. That was awesome.

Did any of you know that they guy who played Alex is a singer in a Eukranian band? They have this awesome song called Start Wearing Purple. HAHA! Good tunes...good tunes...
