I was just wondering if the Mods had any plans for a Yule Ball or anything like that... this year? It's just been kind of quiet in that area, and I think it was earlier than this last year when things started getting organized and everything. So I was just wondering really.

Aye, I was wonderin the same. I mean, I don't want anything too fancy really. A masquerade would be something quite fun. :) I remember it being very popular last year.

Yes, that was fun. :D But I'm just worried that perhaps it's a bit too late now to get things ready and everything.

[don't take this personally AU you should see how I'm fretting about Christmas being 2 weeks away at home]

As you all may know, Tin usually heads the Yule Ball events, but unfortunately she's been quite busy as of late.

Other moddies are also busy with preparation for the holidays and school, etc. So I will try to get it all organized up, etc.

I have my exams this coming week, so I hope to get this all organized and together by the end of this weekend.

If you all could do me a huge favor and try to summarize what all went on with the past Yule Balls, gather ideas of what threads we can return and what events we can plan for the daily activities, etc.

Also what threads were made in preparation for the event such as dates + banners + etc.

That would be great.

Thank you!

I didn't attend last year's ball, but I'd love to do it this year!

Okie-dokie Kit, well I'll try.

Well we had pre-ball threads for deciding what activities we would be having, who people would be going with, what people would be wearing and what decorations, music there would be. The usual kind of stuff.

The ball threads themselves, there was a garden area, ballroom, punch bowl section for food and drinks, snowball fights, and the masquerade thread.

Looking at the old threads, it seems the last day of the Yule Ball was the 27th. We had 2 Masquerade Days - 21st and the 26th. On the last day of the ball, that is when everyone revealed who they had previously been at the Masquerades.

So it looks like we have a few days yet to organise things before the ball starts - if we keep the same sort of dates as last year.

I know I ended up having to answer most of the questions about the masquerade and trying my best to keep everyone from being confused, so if you need my assistance in that area again, I would be happy to help. :-)

Pre-Threads (each a separate thread):
-Who is attending + Dates
-Banners/Decorations
-Discussion on Events
-???

Let's focus on the pre-threads, what threads would we like to have?

Yule Ball Threads:
-Entrance
-Ballroom
-Banquet Room
-Garden
-??

Events:
-Masquerade
-??

- Event/activities discussion

I can't really think of anything else that there needs to be for the preparation really. There could just be a general idea thread I suppose, but that might get a bit messy.

As for banners advertising the Yule Ball, unlike last year, could a contest be made out of this? "Design a Yule Ball banner" which would detail the time and the place? The winning banner(s) are the ones that are to be used?

Can we get the contest all finished in time for the beginning of the Yule Ball? =/ That might be cutting it close and I that might get messy. I really don't have that much time to contribute to this so we'll stick to the basics. Better little than nothing right?

I can merge the "general idea/information" thread with the Attendance + Dates section, that shouldn't be a big deal.

I'll concentrate on those four threads for the pre-threads.

True, true. Well I'll try and whip up a couple of banners over the weekend, without the dates of course, because we haven't decided them yet. Unless we just want it to be like last year? 20th-27th? Hopefully a few more graphics people can make some banners as well.

That sounds good Kit. The planning threads aee just to get people a bit more involved until the balls starts anyway, it gets people in the mood. :-)

I think the 21st - 28th would work better. Let's set that as the date.

Those dates sound good. We normally have member inputs for the dates, but even so, you can't please everyone, so it is probably best to just to come straight out with them.

Would it be Ok to have 2 Masquerade dates like last year? The reason being, hopefully people can attend one of them at least.

That's fine, I'm thinking they should be on the Fridays beginning and end. The 21st and then the 28th?

*pokes head in* If I could make a quick suggestions, I think it could work better for the first masquerade to be maybe the Saturday after the ball starts. That was, people have a bit more of a chance to get their "disguises" figured out. *ducks back out*

We'll see how it goes-----It shouldn't matter, we can flip-flop masquerade dates if need be for that first one.

The Yule Ball date is set however, and is the 21st through the 28th.

Great! Well I'm glad we have the dates for the ball set anyway.

It would perhaps be nice to have the Masquerades on the second day and the second to last day of the ball. But perhaps for this, we could see what others say? It's not as important at the moment.
