*pats teh pink duckies' heads*

So, it's not exactly a masquerade [which is what we want!] because we'll be able to keep our real name in our sigs, aye?

No, it's not a masquerade as such, because all those who take part, are to place in their sigs their real identity. I wouldn't want the masquerade idea to get over-used.... or confuse people too much.

 I'll second that JF-ish-ness. I think I'd be kinda lost. What makes a good hobbit name anyways?

I think there's some kind of translator at The Council of Elrond. That's how I translated my real name to the Sindarin name Gwenneth. Let me see if I can find it...

Nope, sorry. They only have translations for Sindarin, Quenya, and Rohirric. :confuzzled:

I'm going to need some help on this Hobbit name stuff, too.

EDIT: Fwee! Only 1000 more posts to go until I get my snazzy title!

I think I'll probably use a generator. I've already had 4 rather amusing names.

Fwee!! Only er...*counts* 712 for me!

Hmm, aye, or I might just have a rummage around various websites and do a bit of a mish-mash. :P

I just realized I won't make the ball  I'll be in Atlanta for a conference that week! :(

@ Ivy - Thanks for the link and I'm really sorry you won't be able to come to the ball.

@ Gil - Why would you want to go to Poland? You should come to my town, much better weather and all of Poland seems to have moved here.

LOL! Using Ivy's generator, I typed in Gwenneth Black as my name, since I use it when registering for things online. I ended up with Merina 'Headstrong' Holeman , Princess of the Halflings.

@ Gily - And I thought I was the only one who'd be going to Poland this summer. :teehee: My family and I are going because I've always wanted to see all the Holocaust museums and memorials. Such a fascinating and sad time in history..

Back on topic: Haha! Typed in Larael and I got 'Divyan Gammidge of Bywater' then I typed in my real name and got 'Daerka 'the Magnificent' Greenhand of Buckland'.

JF - I'm going on a mission's trip, not vacation! :teehee: LOL! Otherwise I'd come visit you ;)

Larael - You're going as well? Awesome! When?

*is way off topic*

Ooh, I want to try that name generator now :P Hehe, I'm Pansy Sackville-Baggins XD

I just remembered! The Elven generator gave me the username that I'm still using today; Gilraen Ringëril! :D Although I took out the special letter 'e' because I can't figure it out on my keyboard :teehee:

So, the first ball is 20 June, and the second ball is.. ? I guess we haven't come up with a date for it, have we?

[@ Gil - We're goin' toward the begining of August. The 4th to the 17th I believe..]

The mod team has kinda counted on the Elvish ball being around the start of fall/end of summer which would put it around Sept 21st, and several days after which would

--cover the celebration of Bilbo and Frodo's birthdays
--the leaving of Bilbo from the Shire
---Sam, Pippin, Fatty & Merry's conspiracy to look after Frodo revealed
---Gandalf finding Shadowfax
--Black riders start chasing Frodo in the Shire

Plus, the fall equinox is about that time. So the first ball as summer starts, and 2nd as it ends. What's more fitting?
