Unless you're the Elves in the Hobbit. Remember, PJ & Co made changes to Tolkien elves: J.R.R.Tolkien wrote: Just then there came a burst of song like laughter in the trees: O! What are you doing, And where are you going? Your ponies need shoeing! The river is flowing! O tra-la-la-lally! here down in the valley!
O! Will you be staying, Or will you be flying? Your ponies are straying! The daylight is dying!
To fly would be folly, To stay would be jolly And listen and hark Till the end of the dar to our tune ha! ha!
So they laughed and sang in the trees; and pretty fair nonsense I daresay you would think it. Not that they would care; they would only laugh all the more if you told them so. They were elves of course.

If I go to the Elven Ball, could I still be crazy?

Hehe.
Good point Ivy. I guess elves are just generally thought to be more serious, especially in Lord of the Rings. *shrugs* Plus, I can't see hobbits being anything but lively and jolly at a party!

Okay we've got a kick-off Hobbit ball date: Midsummer Night June 20th. Yaay!

So will this ball include name/ID/look changes to a Hobbit theme (a sort of masque) Such as Jennifer Smith becomes Marigold Foxburr or Michael Williams becomes Berilac Bramble? Or just keep to ourselves this time...

I like the idea of Hobbity name changes! Also, to what date would the ball last?

So by having Hobbit names, is the purpose to not know who everyone else is? Or are we still supposed to know? I think you can look at it both ways.

Yes, I agree with you there Gwen. It could just be taken as everyone is joining in the Hobbit spirit, by having Hobbit-y names. People could place in their sig if they wanted, who they are.

I like that idea. After all, it doesn't have to be a Masquerade ball like last time. No need to be guessing who everyone is. (I don't really mind that aspect, but we could save that for the end of summer, perhaps.)
