Post subject:  Comments/Suggestions: AU Reunion

If you attended the AU Reunion, how did you think it went? Did you you think we had sufficient advertising for it beforehand? Were you satisfied with the venues set aside for the reunion? Do you have any suggestions for next year? Basically, talk about what you liked and disliked, what you thought could be better, and if you have any ideas for future reunions.

EDIT: What about timing as well? Do you think we should have the reunion at a different time of year, for a longer period of time, etc.?

Well, it was fun. I wil admit, the chat element wasnt as good as I had hoped. Several of the members ended up having a mass natter on MSN :P

Maybe that would be best; instead of organising chats, then IMing.

But as I said, I did enjoy it.
Good work guys

Yeah, my only real complaint was that very few people got on the chat. That's not really something that anyone could have helped, though, except maybe by stressing the availability of the chat room for such purposes (like I got Kit to do a few times :teehee:). I ended up barely posting in the Misc. Randomness thread at all because even once I started seeing some of my old friends, it was hard to sort through everything and keep a coherent conversation going.

So yeah, my main recommendation would be to maybe find a way to make more chat and less thread (or at least more equal parts). Maybe have someone organize a movie viewing or two somewhere in the time span?

Regarding the timing, I think the time of year worked well, though it could have lasted longer. Obviously all the oldies didn't have to leave right as the reunion officially "ended," so it wasn't a big deal, but it could have started a little earlier, maybe.

Overall, though, I think it was definitely a hit. I know I certainly enjoyed hearing from old friends that I'd lost contact with since they left. It was a really neat opportunity to see people, and very well-organized. Cheers to Lar for an awesome reunion. :drunk:

I loved the Reunion but I'm sorry I was away during most of the actual action! I think the information in advance through the forum mass e-mail was alright, many of the not-so-active-anymore members returned when they got the e-mail and some just popped in during the Reunion and others did post a lot more around the forum.

I can't tell how the chat worked since I never got there. I imagine the same problem occuring as always with time zones, one of the very few times where being a European sucks! But I think we should keep the chatroom option next time, perhaps we could organise some set dates and/or times where people could meet in the chatroom in order to get more to come at the same time.

The actual thread worked really well. I liked how active as well as non-active, new and old members mingled, (re-)introduced themselves. And I read through the thread when I came back to get updated on the returning members, which I couldn't have done in the chat.

Like I said in the other thread, perhaps we could try having a summer reunion since people might have more time to come back there. I mean getting a reminder through the forum mail twice a year isn't abusing the system, is it? And perhaps some people just need a friendly reminder to come back at least for a short time.

First of all, hats off to Lar for organising this. :notworthy: I thought you did an amazing job. :D

I was just disappointed that I didn't get to participate as much as I should have liked. My fault. :P But I didn't really see any other problems... and the time of year was ideal for me.

The only thing I would suggest considering is having the reunion in the "In Your Life" secetion. Just because all the members did want to do a massive review of their lives from the time they had left AU, and I did see Kit come on and remind them to be careful about posting it in a public board... *shrugs* It might be better to move it. :)

Awesome job again, though, Lar.

For those seeking an authentic New York experience, the Tavern is a must-visit. It's a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in a world of music, history, and genuine hospitality. Whether you're a local looking for a new place to visit or a traveler looking for a memorable evening, restaurants nyc near me promise an unforgettable experience.

It would be nice for the members with the power would have a reunion here.
We could go spambot hunting and stack their bodies up and have a huge fire.
I know this place is dead and it's sad Anna has her name attached to the domain.
