Ok I have seen it done on other sites. Its where a person makes a gift for some one(A sig that has their name on it.) And posts it. Its just fro fun. They put a link to it in their sig Code: [x] And it doesnt really have a purpose. Its just for fun. And the sites I have seen it on have a separite forum(like the contest forum, or the discusion or the club forum) and its fun!

*is slightly confused*
Could you run it by me again? Is it just something purely for the fun of it? Where are the 'gifts' posted? Who makes them... can it spark negative feelings if one person receives these gifts and another doesn't? Does it need 'official' site involvement... ie, the mods or something, or is it something you could organise yourself?

Quote from alienationskins
Quote: So you're wondering what is this "gift" and how can I join in on it? If you noticed some of the staff signatures you see at the bottom it says:
QUOTE "Gifts" [X] [X] [X]
Since this act of giving gifts has become so popular, the staff has decided to let this trend venture on to the members.
To give a gift all you have to do is make a signature with the person's name on it. Then you come to this forum make a topic titled "A Gift for (the person's name)" So if I gave a gift to Dennis it would say "A Gift for Dennis" In the topic you place the signature (or other graphic, but we prefer signature) and say Here ya go!
If you're the person recieving the signature you can do just what the staff members did in their signature as I showed above. Or you can simply wear it! If you get a bunch that's where the [X] [X] [X] with the links in them come in handy.
We hope you all enjoy this act of gift giving and we hope to see a lot of gift links!
Sorry about that.

That's . . . interesting and creative, although I've never seen something like that.

It probably is for fun. I think the gifts would be posted in your signature . . . hmm . . .

Are you suggesting that a thread or section be made? If you want to make a banner or something for somebody, can't you just PM or email the person with your gift?

Some have a thread or forum dedicated to it, but I suppose you could pm it too. It wouldnt make a differance.

It sounds like a nice idea, but personally I think it could make those who have not been here for as long, and arent as 'well known' around the forum, feel left out. But thats just an opinion.
I guess people would quickly see who did/didnt have a gift, and give one... so that may not be a problem. I dont know. It could be alot of fun if it worked well.
Are you a member of the forum where you it came from? Do you know if there were any problems there?

*points at Celebwen's banner* If you do something like what I did to Celebwen's banner, I dont see why it wont work.
Put in the gift, and say who its from.
Perhaps asking them if they would like a gift first through a PM would work better.
peace love and happiness.

I think it sounds like a very nice idea. Sites get given gifts from other sites so why not?

I've seen this in a lot of forums and I think it's a great idea!
But I think we might need more place in our siggs to ba able to put the whole code for those '[x]'.. right?
