Hmmmm...I'm pretty sure to do this, you should open up a new image in Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro, and set it so that there is a transparent background. Then past your avatars onto the image, and when you save it, save it as a .gif and the transparency will stay! Or if you save it as .png I think it would work as well

I LUUURVES it!!! I don't particularly like Michael Emerson, but the banner and icons are gorgeous!
And what do you mean it only 'sort of' works? It looks fine to me!

If you still need this..
--> File>Export>PNG Optimizer
Make sure you check Alpha Channel and Existing Layer Or Image!
And here we go yay

Sometimes doesn't work in IE but it's out-of-date anyway.

Do you use Internet Explorer? It's because of that, Firefox has it all smoothened out.
(there's some javascript available that fixes the IE problem but it's gone, rawr)
