This is one of the things I like better in the movies than in the books. I love what the Evenstar pendant symbolizes, and I also love how PJ depicted it in the movie. I suppose it sort of replaced the green elfstone for which Aragorn became known as Elessar from in the books.

Yeah, I completely agree with you two.
I saw FOTR before I read the books, so I was pretty surprised of Arwen giving the Evenstar to Frodo in the books. I defintely like the way PJ turned the pendant into a symbol of Arwen's love to Aragorn much more.
I'm just wondering what Elrond might have said/ thought when he saw Aragorn wearing the Evenstar for the first time, because I think the pendant is not just some piece of jewellery, but something of great value...
@~*ArwenEvenstar*~: The green elfstone doesn't appear in the movies, or did I just never recognize it?

No, the Elessar wasn't in the movie. I wish they would have put it in there so you could see why he was called Elassar and I wondered what it would have looked like...
As for the jewel, question, I think maybe Elrond was a little sad because he knew his daughter wasn't going to Valinor with him.

No, I didn't mean that the Elessar was in the movies, but it seems like PJ sort of turned the Evenstar pendant into something quite similar to it. I too would have liked to see what it would look like though.

I wonder what it'd look like. According to the book it was a brooch shaped like an eagle with a perodot in the middle.

Well, I've been searching for a pic of the elfstone on the net and all I found was this:
It think if you would insert the stone into the eagle brooch, it would look pretty nice, although I must say that I still prefer the Evenstar to it .
Here's the link to the wikipedia article about the elfstone and it's history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfstone

You're welcome!
Well, back to the Evenstar topic:
Which scene is your favourite one focusing on the Evenstar?
1. FOTR: The scene when Arwen gives the pendant to Aragorn
2. TTT: The Evenstar scene
3. ROTK: The scene when Arwen has the vision of her son wearing the Evenstar

Hmmmm.... honestly, it's way to hard to choose. The FotR one is so touching since it really shows how dedicated they are to each other. The Evenstar scene shows their great love, and the RotK scene shows more of their future and is so touching. They're all too good- I couldn't possibly choose.

Yeah, I completely agree with you, ArwenEvenstar!
I can't decide as well, because I love all three scenes, as each one is so special and beautiful!
I love the FOTR scene, as it shows Arwen's choice and her love to Aragorn in such a touching way.
The TTT scene is beautiful, as it refers to Arwen as the person who provides Aragorn with all his strength and as it shows how much she stands behind him. And, of course, I love it because there's so much Elvish in it...
And the ROTK scene...well, I like the way it shows Aragorn as a loving father and I also like it that it shows what future Arwen would give up if she would sail to Valinor...

Thanks! I love my banners as well. The animated one was made by Este and the one below it by Raven...I wish I could make banners as well, but unfortunately I can't make any graphics at all ...
Well, a question concerning the Evenstar that I'm thinking about for a few days now:
A friend told me that in the ROTK EE the Evenstar pendant shatters when Aragorn faces the Palantir. Unfortunately, I don't have the EEs, so I asked myself if that scene would be just a vision of Aragorn or if the Evenstar shatters really, which would be so sad.
But Arwen's son wears the Evenstar when Arwen sees him in her vision (at least in the "normal" version of the movies), so the pendant actually can't have been destroyed. Does anyone of you know more about that scene?

The very first time I saw the EE, I thought the same thing. I agree with your logic about Eldarion wearing it, and also Aragorn is still wearing it at the Battle of the Black Gate. It's hard to see, because of what he's wearing, but it is definately there. I think that it was only a vision, although it was not directly "inside the Palantir" in the scene.
Nope, I can't make graphics either, Rose.

I saw this question come up once. The Evenstar in the vision was supposed to represent their love, the Evenstar in the Palintir scene was supposed to break. I think there's a bit if symbolism in there because when it crashes, it either represents their love ending or Arwen dying. That's my theory.
