Oh! Alanna, I'm really sorry. *gives hug* Aerliniel, me too! Well, I just wanted to be an actress/director when I saw LotR. And Elijah. :p

*group hug*

Oh, Alanna, I'm so sorry to hear about your father. I went through a similar thing after my aunt died of cancer at the end of my freshman year of high school. I had already been into LotR for almost a year by then, but after that the story took on a bit of a different tone with me for a while. I should really post the full story of my history with LotR somewhere, but this probably isn't the right thread for it. I just love how it's a story that so many people can relate to at different stages of their lives.

I totally agree with you about Elijah being different from other Hollywood actors. I follow him on Twitter, something I highly recommend for those of you who have it. Unlike most celebrities, if you tweet Elijah, he will usually reply to you! I haven't summoned the courage to send him any tweets yet, though. *blushes* He just has this amazing rapport with his fans, and him being thrust back into the limelight again due to Wilfred and The Hobbit doesn't affect that. He's still the same amazing down-to-earth person he's always been.

Aerliniel (Just remembered, I need to reply to your PM!), dear, your website isn't working for me! it's showing up as a 404 Error.

One quick thing before I go: One thing Elijah often talks about on Twitter is music, and I keep getting mental images of him driving somewhere and singing along loudly with a CD. XD It always makes me smile to imagine that.

*hugs back* thanks, Arabella and Harthad. for me it's been a strengthening process and also one of learning, and I've come to accept life instead of fighting it, which is what I would usually like to do. it's amazing what a book can do (but in my opinion it's not just a book)!

Aerli (can I call you that? :) ), you site's not working either... could you repost the link? oh the agony of waiting! :P

I don't have Twitter, but that's so cool that Elijah uses it! maybe I should look into it. :) speaking of music, I found this cute picture of him (click the link): http://omg.yahoo.com/photos/stars-rock- ... mgPhoid=28 :)

Yeah, you can tell he really loves DJ-ing. (Is that a word?) I find his music obsession adorable--how he brought 300 CDs to New Zealand for the 15-month shoot of LotR and brought 300 more and stuff. And him and his infamous CD binder in the "Day in the Life of a Hobbit" segment on the FotR EE Appendices! "Every day I bring in a book about this big...we usually go through three CD's because we're here for so bloody long!"

During a packing break today, I went to the store with my mom and someone said I looked somewhat like Elijah. This has happened multiple times in the past and it FREAKS ME OUT to no end...I don't look like him, that would be weird. Just because I have big blue eyes and dark hair...people are strange.

haha I remember that part - is it when they're getting all hobbit-ed up and he's flipping through his CDs? ah I wish I collected CDs instead of lousy mp3 files, right?

have you seen any movies with Elijah when he was much younger, like Flipper? there was one about either Tom Sawyer or Huckleberry Finn that he was in too, but I don't remember which it was. I saw it ages ago.

Aerliniel asked to see a pic of me, so I suppose I'll wander on over to the picture thread after this and you all can laugh at how dorky I am. XD

Yep, it's that part! I must say, "A Day in the Life of a Hobbit" is probably my favorite behind-the-scenes feature on the FotR EE. They're all so hilarious--Sean talking about how the makeup artist who put on his Hobbit feet is named Sean Foot, Elijah talking about how early they had to be there... "My day would start within the 5 o'clock hour everyday, for the most part...and sometimes 4:30. That was lovely." (Sidenote: I love how he says the word 'lovely' all the time!)

I've seen Flipper when I was really young, and my mom and I rented Forever Young, which he was in with Mel Gibson, not long after we read The Hobbit. I had no idea who Elijah was then, but I did enjoy the movies. And a few years ago while channel surfing late at night, I was able to catch him as The Artful Dodger in Oliver Twist! It was absolutely amazing and hilarious.

ooh I didn't know he was in Oliver Twist - I should run to Blockbuster and see if I can find it :) waaaait... is it a play or a movie, and do you think it would be on dvd?

I think it's lovely that he says lovely all the time :P though I think sarcasm is a large part of it. (he's got a dry sense of humor sometimes that I find hilarious.) and I remember the bit about Sean Foot too! and how Sean Astin put an 'e' at the end to make it sound more normal, but there wasn't one! haha.
and then Elijah was talking about Sean and his coffee. that was funny too :)

go post your picture! I'm sure it won't look any worse than mine. it's buried in the thread somewhere. :P I hardly ever take pictures of myself unless it's with a friend, so thing always look doubly crazy.

It was a movie! It was, I think, his last film before he started working on LotR. The accent he uses is even reminsicent of Frodo at times, although decidedly more Cockney-influenced. He did a fantastic Artful Dodger.

He does have a very dry sense of humor--one of his many charms. I'm pretty sarcastic, too, so I'd like to think we'd get along nicely. XD And LOL at Sean... "I want to put an E on there, because it's just too weird that your last name is Foot and you work on my foot...s. My foots. No E." Oooh, or when Elijah and the boys are making fun of Sean for being too concerned about safety and directing helicopters in to land!

I'll post pics in a minute, at the moment I am posting a rant. >.< Stupid real life drama, interrupting my fangirling and other A-U.com moments.

oh exciting, then I should definitely rent it. I love his accent in LotR! it's so cute and convincing and Frodo-ish! :P

yes, I am fluent in sarcasm. it was a trait passed on from my dad, I think. my mom doesn't understand it whatsoever.
I love the bit when Elijah and the others are poking fun at Sean! how Sean was directly the helicopters to land and everything, haha!
though I'm sure Sean wasn't laughing at the time when he sliced his foot open, I love their comments on the part when Elijah kept looking at whatever came out of his foot and going, "oh, what is that? look at that!" and poor Sean was sitting there was blood everywhere and a pained expression. brave hobbit :)

awh, I've posted on that rant thread several times, so I know how you feel. it really does help to get it all out on paper (on screen... whatever) and everything. real life gets in the way so often.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4cz8KyyKg0 Here's a little sneak-preview. Enjoy--I know I did! Although I will admit, his wig is absolutely ridiculous in Oliver Twist. I much, much prefer his Frodo wig!

Some people didn't find Elijah's accent in LotR very convincing, but I did! His Artful Dodger accent is almost as adorable.

*giggles and facepalms at the mention of Sean's injury* Yeah, in his book Sean talks about how Elijah was like "Oh, cool!" and started poking at the blood clot with a stick. A little gross, but we must remember that Elijah was an 18-year-old boy at the time and they can't always act their age. :P

*faints* SO. ADORABLE. even with that ridiculous wig on. I could give him a giant hug right now. :)

I totally thought his accent in LotR was right on. it's not a full-blown English accent, I don't think, but he does it so well it almost deserves a name! (the Frodo accent!) :P

I hope, since the dwarves pictures were put up, that this fall we'll get a nice shot of him as Frodo again. I'm so excited! I can't help wondering if he'll look the exact same or not. *happy sigh* when The Hobbit comes out, I'm taking every friend I know to the theater. and I'll have to wear a Frodo t shirt. :P
I was going to dress up as a hobbit for the occasion, but I happen to be really tall, so an elf would be better. :P

ISN'T HE? *giggles like crazy* Glad that brightened your day!

The Frodo accent! I love that title!

Personally, I think he'll look mostly the same. XD Especially once they get that curly wig on him again. As he said himself in an interview, he really hasn't aged that much in 11 or 12 years. I wonder if the Ring did something to him...?

I'm dragging all my friends to the theatre when it comes out too! I'm working on a Hobbit costume as we speak, but I only have a shirt and the cloak right now. I love my cloak--a friend made it for me as a Christmas present four years ago. It's not the proper Elven cloak, it looks more like the green cloak Frodo wears for the first half of FotR. In fact, when I went to see FotR in theatres in June when they did that special re-release, I wore it. It was a great conversation starter--and useful too, since the theatre was freezing. But I still need a Hobbit skirt and bodice and apron. Oh well, all in good time, I suppose.

I'm only 5'3". But I'm fine with that. After all, Elijah is 5'6". ;)

you lucky short people. :P

I was debating making an Eowyn costume, but the idea is so daunting... and dresses sound so complicated to make! so I'll probably wear an LotR shirt and some jeans, and my One Ring... perhaps by then I'll have acquired more wearable LotR awesomeness.

I wish Elijah would wear his hair more like he used to, all cute and softish-spikyish, instead of how I've seen it in recent pictures (much shorter). not saying he looks bad (I don't think it's possible for him to look truly bad, except perhaps when his head was practically shaved), but it looks so much better. :)
