  I love that! It completely sounds like him. PotR, you have a future as a scriptwriter.

He isn't really evil, I suppose. That's what's cool about Pirates 1, there weren't really evil people, just people out for themselves. He made a good antagonist though! :P

If he were a little more evil though, he would definetly be someone that you would love to hate.

I think one of my favorite non-canon Barbossa lines ever (okay, I admit, I wrote it in a fanfic once, but I really do think it fits his character) is "I'm hardly what you'd call 'evil.' I'm more of an opportunist with a convenient lack of morals."

And really, it's true. I think Barbossa, despite his apparent change of sides in AWE, is one of the most consistent and trustworthy characters in the trilogy. He always does precisely as he says -no more, no less- and once he's committed to something, he stays committed. Yes, he's also a master at finding loopholes ("It was you who failed to specify when or where"), but we never actually see him go back on his word. And as far as his actions go, he'll do whatever need be done to accomplish his goal or fulfill his word. If someone else is inconvenienced by that, then that's their problem.

Very well put, PotR. you pretty much just described him to a tee.

just making sure :)

So, now that we have a few members aboard, what are some of your favorite Barbossa scenes?

1. I absolutly love the first time you see him after the attack on Port Royal in CotBP when Pintel and Ragetti bring Elizabeth to him.
2. Love the scene where he's tells Elizabeth about the curse.
3. the scenes in AWE when he's talking to the Brethren Court are great (boy, that guy knows how to give a speech!)
4. the Singapore scenes where he's talking with Sao Feng and trying to keep Elizabeth in order
5. when they're headed to world's end and when they're going off the side of the world

… and now that I think about it I don't know if there is a Barbossa scene in AWE that I don't like.

1. At the end of DMC with him and the apple. *laughs*
2. Off of the end of the world. when he isn't freaking out and everyone else is.
3. Him and Jack fighting over being captain of the Black Pearl.

Gaspeth! How dare you say that Davy Jones is a villian? it isn't his fault that Beckett was controlling him.

All of Barbossa's stuff is great... i dont care whether he's beating up Jack or fighting or whatever.

Beating Jack up? That's a good way to put it  although really Jack is holding his own against him... he did a whole lot better than poor Elizabeth did!

^*shudders to read old posts... :P*

anyway, since there seem to be a few more Barbossa fans lurking about here I figure I might as well give this club a slight bump in hope of maybe making it active once more... *puppy-eyes*
