When I go back, I'll get you the number, ok?
Thanks!
Oh, and I wore my green tunic and blue cloak on halloween. Much fun! And I wore brown tights under the tunic. I looked like a royal Mirkwood elf! It was so awesome! But my ears weren't pointed!! I couldn't find anything to make them pointed. A few weeks later I learned spirit gum could be used. you can imagine the look on my face. HEHE!

Lothril: That sounds awsome!! Do you have any pictures of you in the costume!? I wanna see you as a royal Mirkwood elf! OH! And I found the number of the Pattern it's McCALLS'S 4491, I have a link for that exact pattern here: http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4491.htm?tab=&page=1 I personally think it's a great layout for all of Arwen's "jumper-styled" dresses (i.e. Blood Red, Requiem, and coronation) Just take viewing D, and put A over it With a few adaptions of course. But I was looking at it, and I think I'll have to adapt t more than I think because this on has a lot more folds than Arwen's and does't go straight down...but I might just leave it as it is, depends on how much work I'm willing to do.
Ellethwen: You say you got purple fabric? Just curious, why pruple? Isn't the Requiem gown "midnight blue"? But you sound really proud of it, do you have any pictures? And you look lovely in that gown!
Speaking of trims, when I was at Joann Fabrics, I saw the *perfct trim* for the Requiem dress, it almost followed the pattern thats on Arwen's gown, I was so mad, though, that they only had it in yellow!!! grrrrr
Nienor:I was looking at the FolkWear website, and I noticed how much the female hobbit gowns look like the Austrian dresses! Now I know what to use if I needto hobbit-ize my self!
Cloud Strife, I was Frodo last year!
It was a lot of fun, I made my cape (with a fabric I didn't really approve of, but it was ok) I found the perfect sort of knee-length brown pants, the right type of shirt, and I wear my ring all the time so that wasn't an issue, the only thing I didn't have that greatly dissapointed me was the vest. But it was fun.

No, I don't have a picture of myself in my halloween costume. At least, not in any place findable. If it still exists, it is well buried. I do, however, have a picture of my cloak! HAHA! I need to cut out the rest of the stuff, but I'll get that on here so you can see my cloak a little.

I did not make the dress. But that is my cloak of unknown color. If I find a better picture I'll use that one.
Like my face?

Hehehe.
No, the dress isn't purple-and not midnight blue either, thats the Blood Red/Dying gown, it's actually a kind of slate blue.
The upper sleeves are purple, and I got new fabric for those, which is good because the stuff I got before was HORRENDOUS.
I will get pictures of it as soona s I find batteries for my camera. They mysteriously jumped out of it. Oh, and a cable I can use.
EDIT:
Oh, alos, a good pattern for Arwen's BR/D gown is Simplicity 4940. It would take some altering, but I' using it right now for my Req. gown since it's so similar, but I am drafting my own lower sleeve pattern.
Thanks for the compliment! The mysterious blue thing under the drape, if you're wondering, was the interfacing, I don't really see the purpose for it though so I'm not using it on my Req. gown since no one else seems to bother with it.

Ellethwen, try a french seam? People don't seem to use them for hems, but you could try. I've made the same pattern and had no trouble with my hem falling out. Maybe you should take the stitches out and fold it over once more? (Though it would leave holes in chiffon)

I did use french semas for sewing the two panels together, but i've never thought of using that for a hem.
i'll try it out as soon as the sewing machine gets fixed. the pedal is now sticking.

Whoo! Can I join? I like making costumes, though I'm not realy good at it. I did however make a green tunic and a brown cloak for my holloween costume. I wore my horseriding breeches, half chaps, and boots. It looked really cool. And i really love my cloak. It is so awesome.
I'd love to make a really pretty dress, but it will take time. Better get started for next year's holloween.

A french sema is kinda hard t explain...but here's a link to a page about seams, and includes some on French Seams:

Scroll down a bit.

Ellethwen, the purpled fabric that you got, is some kind of crinkled fabric? I have no idea what to get for the upper sleaves. And will you be doing the embroidery on the fabric, or you're leaving it plain?
Nienor, your aviemakes me hungry
