I will totally join! Eowyn is my favorite LOTR character, especially in the books. She thought she knew what she wanted, but when she defied convention out of both love and despair, she found a whole new life. The learning process is beautiful - added to the fact that she totally kicks butt

I'm writing on a story about the relationship between Éowyn and Éomer since her birth, I want to tell their whole life and how I see them both, their relationship. I'll try to post the first chapter I wrote so you can tell me what you think of it.

I. Chapter


"Éomer!"

It was early in the morning when Éomund rushed into his son's room and kneeled down beside his bed. Éomer was deep asleep, but the light of Éomund's torch he was holding up slightly woke him.

"Wake up, my dear son! Your mother awaits you!"

"Father? “He asked, "What is it? Is everything well with her?"

"Yes, it is, but she'd like to introduce you to someone!"

"Am I a brother now? Have I got a sibling? Please, tell me!"

Éomund laughed. "Come with me, son, and you will see!"

They rushed down the corridor to Theodwyn's room and quietly entered. In the middle of the room she laid in her bed, her forehead was covered with sweat, and in her arms she held a tiny pale-pink thing with short, golden hair, clad in white cloths.

"Éomer, here is someone who wants to get to know you! Welcome your little sister!"

Éomer stepped forward and studied her face. She was so small! He carefully stretched out his hand to touch her tiny fingers when suddenly her hand clasped forward and got to hold his forefinger. Then she slowly opened her eyes to look at him and ... smiled, for the first time in her life.

"Her name is Éowyn." Theodwyn whispered.

It looks like it is gonna be a long story if you start from their chilhood. However, it is you who writes the story. So I cannot help the way of thinking. Because you are thinking and writing it down. If you want to write it better, do description about Rohan when Eomer was a kid. Give a brief info about the people who lives in and got into touch with him. If I were you, this would be the things I will be more interested in. Anyway, you are writing it, you can ignore my ideas.

Éowyn_of_Rohan, that's a great idea. I always wanted to read more about Eowyn and Eomer and their relationship as brother and sister, and their life before the War. I was sorry that Tolkien didn't write more about them, like in the appendices. I love Eowyn and Eomer characters especially because I have a brother whom I love very much, so I kind of identified the two of us with them when I read the book. Silly, I know. :blushes:

Merenwen, that is exactly what I was thinking! I, too have a brother (I got to know him when I was 13, but we act as if we know each other our whole life!) and I really would have known more about what Tolkien thought their relationship would be like.



That's a great idea! Exactly this is what I need to write on, some good ideas like how life in Rohan may be like!
