The thread was hidden under about three pages. I bumped, which may or may not be frowned upon.

I was just going to ask...
Am I the only writer who constantly has trouble getting her thoughts down on paper? Like, I know I have talent, I was put a few grades ahead in my writing class, but whenever it comes to actually writing my ideas down, the glory of it is always shattered. It's so spectacular in my head, maybe I'll come up with some kind of fantasy story that's so good, but when I try to write it I end up really disappointed. So usually I just keep the ideas floating around in my head so that they can stay spectacular.

If I don't write my ideas down right away I lose it forever. It sucks. That's why I always carry around a notebook. lol

But that's just it,
If I don't write my ideas down in just the right way, I tear my hair out. It's terrible! Does anyone have any advice?

I know exactly how you feel Gwenneth. Sometimes it takes forever just to come up with the perfect words for ONE line!

Ooh! Why did I not see this club before? I'll most definately join! I'm not currently working on anything (I gave up writing for Lent; you're supposed to give up something that means a lot to you, so I did), but I have four POTC fanfictions written, another in the planning stages, and a couple of original fiction ideas that I'm still sorting out in my head.
Like several other people here, I go nowhere without my notebook (well, I do right now since I'm not writing, but under normal conditions I almost always have one).

 new members!
When I write, I write everything in my notebook, then I go type it in Microsoft Word. When I do the spelling/grammar check it sometimes helps. I also use a thesaurus a lot. lol

You're kidding!!! That's exactly what i do. I do that because i have a deathly time keeping track of all the notebooks i have. At least if there on the computer, i won't misplace them.

Hah! Must be a writer thing. I always start by writing it all down in a notebook. I don't let anyone read it becuase it's nowhere near the finsihed project. It's just where I get the thoughts onto paper and get a general feel for how it's all going to play out. Then I type it all into Microsoft Word by memory and see what stayed. Anything that stays in my mind (or is added) is considered my second draft (I figure if it didn't stick around long enough to transfer to memory, it wasn't worth writing). Finally I run back through it all, changing wording here and there and catching anything my computer missed as far as errors before posting it on Fanfiction.net. My ff.net version is always my final-ish draft, though I've been known to go back through and change it later anyway.

Welcome new members!
My parents really support the fact that I can write, and so they are always asking me what my latest story is about, but I really never like telling them! And I was thinking, when you write something, it's really you giving out a piece of your heart. The stories I write of love, adventure, and mystery, are things I hold so dear to my heart, that I would never, ever share them with anyone! When people critique my writing, it's like they're critiquing me, and what's special to me.

I know how you feel. I usually don't even tell my friends what I writing about. I'm always afraid to share with people 'cos I think they'll tell me it's stupid or something. I usually don't share until the story is done, of almost finished.
