hehe, well, then it must be series (hehe) 6 we're on now in the US. I was too lazy to even think of checking imbd or wiki! but that would make sense...
hmmm, I think they’re about $40 dollars or so over here... sometimes cheaper, but they seem to be getting more and more expensive! Although I'm not quite sure how that translates into UK money... my brother might know. He was the one who translated the money when we bought our Will, Lizzie and Beckett action figures from the UK (over eBay ). That's the way to do it! Get them as gifts!
hmmm, ok, thanks! As I said before, we don't own that season so I guess I'll have to wait til USA decides to play it! yeah, okie dokie! That makes sense. that would be the one.... "Mr. Monk Stays in Bed." Oh, I have seen that Christmas Monk one (actually, strangly, USA played that one just yesterday, I think... )... but there are several others, I believe. My mom told me about one she saw where he actually meets his father for Christmas and all that? I didn't watch it though... and I'm not sure what season it was from.

I remember the episode where Monk goes undercover as a butler! That's a good one. I also remember "Mr. Monk and Mrs. Monk". That one made me so sad because he was getting better and then...back to square one.
I love Dr. Kroger. He puts up with so much, yet he's very funny, kind and understanding. I loved how he helped Monk in the episode where he gets pulled into a cult.
Season six sounds about right. (I was so confused when you were saying "series"...that word is sometimes used interchangably with "show", as in 'Monk, the TV series', encompassing the entire show, all seasons. ) I would buy a box set, but I have seen so many of them already. And Monk really isn't as entertaining when you know how the case gets solved. Not entertaining enough for me to pay $40, anyway.
Oh, and I love Randy and Stottlemeyer! Individually they are amazing enough, but any scene where they are bouncing off of each other is simply hillarious. Have you guys seen the episode where Stottlemeyer gets shot and Randy has to take over the crime scene? It was so touching, how Randy was trying to handle everything, and yet he was so shaken without Stottlemeyer there. He did a rather good job of handling things, actually.
As far as shipping Randy goes...it's not too difficult to see him with any girl he interatcs with a lot, and since Monk's assistants are the main female characters, it's pretty natural to imagine him with Natalie or Sharona.

:duh: yeah, I asked my brother today and he said it amounted to about that too... but thanks all the same, JF! well, I'm kinda used to buying DVDs... sometimes, but most of the time I have a very limited amount of money so I have to be picky of what I buy.
ahhh, ok, thanks again! wow, I didn't even know Monk had an companion book! well, sometimes the Christmas eps do air over Christmastime... it's happened once or twice.
but what really screws me up is they separate the seasons or something... the play half in Fall and half in late winter or something. At least over here that seems to be how it goes. Or else the seasons are REALLY short. And that's another thing... they just don't make seasons like they used to. but anyway... RA, I know what you mean about the confusion! JF had me slightly confused on the "series" thing too. but that's what makes different cultures so awesome! well, no, it's not once all the cases are solved, but sometimes they are fun enough to watch over and over and sometimes (at least with me. ) you forget what happened... that's happened several times.

Wow. I've always considered myself a very passionate fan...but I don't own any of the DVDs, or any "companion" book...or anything. Although, that has something to do with being a college student. Ha ha ha!
And I've kind of lost track of the seasons. But I do believe were on season/series 6. (I really want to know why the Brits say "series" and we Colonials say "season." )
And the number of episodes in a regular season of Monk is, as far as I can remember, different and less than the normal season here in the US. It started as a summer show on USA, (which remains like that). And there aren't 20-24 weeks in a summer. So, only 12-13 episodes.
And this 2 hour episode, is apparently, the season finale. *sigh* I think that had something to do with the strike (that apparently should be over this week). I think it just cut the seasons short, and wasn't resolved in time to salvage the season. Of course, I could be entirely wrong. Don't take me as the expert on this.
But, I AM excited for it! What is Monk doing getting charged and sentenced to jail/prison?! ACK!
And most Christmas episodes, since the seasons didn't run the regular schedule, are generally just "Christmas specials."
I LOOOOOVE the one where he meets his dad and finally learns to ride a bike! It's SOOO sweet!

LOL! Sorry for confusing everyone about the series and seasons. You see in the UK, our big TV programmes only usually have 4 or 6 epsiodes, so I think series comes from the word "serial" which is what they used to call radio programmes that were only around for a short time (and also stories in newspapers, the kind Charles Dickens wrote). I can understand why you call them "seasons" - you have so many episodes, the seasons have time to change before it finishes.
So I finally finished series 5...*sobs* .... it was a really good series, but me and my mum found it quite sad as well, much more sad than others.
But there were humourous moments as well, obviously. And can I just say.... I ♥ Kevin Dorfman! He should really be in them more! He is a good friend to Monk, I mean he's never had a problem with all Monk's phobias and he even sets up the dishwasher just the way Monk likes it, and he doesn't get annoyed with him. In Mr. Monk Goes on the Air, I thought it was so nice of Kevin to phone in and prompt Monk, so Monk could tell his "joke". I really want to see more of Kevin.
I love the fact your emotions can change when you watch Monk, because one epsiode you can feel really sorry for say Monk, because of something Kroger said to him or made him feel, and the next you can feel really sorry for Kroger when Monk is being selfish about something.
Anyway, I've just joined the Monk forum at the USA network, because this Friday Tony will be actually chatting to fans and answering any questions they may, so I'm just getting used to the forum, and hopefully I'll be able to talk with him. I have no idea what I'm going to say though, as most of the questions will be the obvious ones. I might just say "hi" and keep quiet, lol.
On the forum, there is a lot of talk about the last two epsiodes of series 6, and there seems to be concern there might not be another series (I can't see that personally, you usually know when a series is coming to an end) and there seems to be talk of the 6 fingered man and Trudy's death being a part of the plot, and I just wondered if that was true?

A quick stop and "hi" to everyone!
Hehe, that’s really interesting, JF… thanks for explaining it better. now we know the differences between seasons and series.
I had almost totally forgotten about Kevin! Lol ah, yes… he was great!
You’re gonna do that? Really? Sweetness!!! have fun!! And if you do raelly talk to him you’ll have to tell us what it was like…
**slight spoiler warning... (depending on your definition of "spoiler")**
Actually it is true, JF. last week they premiered part 1 of the two-parter season finale… I’m not sure yet about it being the end (have to wait for this Friday to really see.... but I sure hope it isn't! ), but it sure is suspenseful and not quite your average Monk. And, yes, Monk did discover who seems to be the 6 fingered guy and there was a lot more to do with Trudy’s death… and well, ummm, Monk shot the guy. only he didn’t really but they’re sending him to prison for it and all that… and ummm there are several big spoilers but since I haven’t seen the last part (it’s showing this Friday! ) I’m not totally sure how it all works out yet… but I’m pretty sure I know since Monk called Stottlemeyer and told him a lot (but I‘m not saying about who or what). Stottlemeyer does shoot Monk right before the “to be continued…” though… or so it seems. anyway, I should go... hopefully I helped enlighten you at least a little... and I didn't give out too many spoilers, did I? somtimes I'm rather bad at that...

Ah, thanks for clearing up that series/season thing! Although, I'm already used to it since I watch Doctor Who and Torchwood. And unless I'm watching it "legally" on BBC America, they're always talked about in "series." Had me confused for a little bit but then I figured it out.
ANYWAY, that's SOOO awesome that you've joined the forum and are gonna try and talk to Tony! Have fun with that!!!
As for a letter to the States...hmmmm...depends on if you have American stamps and all that. I know for just a regular letter it takes a 37 or 39 cent stamp. (Can't remember -- they keep changing it ) You could always pull a Weasley and put a gazillion stamps on there! XD XD XD
But if you want, you can PM me and I can "adopt" you. And send you stamps. Kind of sounds like your in a 3rd world country and you need food stamps. XD
This two-part season finale is AWESOMENESS. It really reminds me of the old days with Sharona. Well, anything to do with Trudy =
PD basically summed it up very well. I'm pretty sure Monk's theory is correct. When has he been wrong? And I kind of figured it out (if its true) when he found the juice band thingy.
I would say that Monk couldn't kill anyone, but then I'm reminded of that one episode when he found that one guy linked to Trudy's murder and he started to cut off the morphin or something, and the only reason he stopped because Trudy wouldn't have wanted him to do it. But he didn't do it this time.
And when Stottlemyer shot him! One, I wasn't expecting any shots to be fired; two, I can't believe Monk would've agreed to falling into the water. XD But he has to have. To me it looked like he was wearing a bullet proof vest. But that's just me. XD
Anyway, awesome first half of the season finale!! And oh my god! Stopping to sew up his prison jumper! XD Had me rolling in fits of laughter. OH!!! And the smoothe with the power drill! EWWWWWWWW!!! I can't believe Randy started drinking it!!!
The finale of the finale looks kind of depressing actually. Poor Natalie. And I really hope Dr. Kroger is in it. I was hoping SO much that he'd show up in this half...but he was only mentioned. *tear*
As for it being the end end, I don't think so. I agree that we should have heard more about it. This episode doesn't seem to lead to Monk getting reinstated. Which we all know should happen at the series finale.

SPOILERS BELOW!
That was so totally a set up between Monk and Stottlemier! I can't even begin to explain how much of a set up it was. But I agree with MB. It'd be really hard to convince Monk to fall into a river. Of course, he did overcome his fear of buses, so who knows...
His Trudy dream was so sad He looked so sad when he woke up. I just wanted to hug him. Of course, then I would have had to give him a giant wipe
And Monk didn't shoot the guy, I'm sure of it. The juice guy did!
I'm just thinking of how screwed up Monk will be after this whole ordeal is over. I mean, he almost had Trudy's killer, and then he was shipped off to jail and forced to face just about all of his fears (HOw many of you were wondering "How is he running through that forest and not convulsing?")

JF, I hope so too... I think it sounds like a lot of fun if you'll actually be able to chat with him! wow, NOW my head is spinning... all these transactions between America and the UK are always confusing to me though! lol
well, I sure hope that's how it ends. unless they really want to go out with a bang and just end right now without saying anything about an end... and really shock the fans. Which I don't think they'd do that... but you never know.
MB, I know what you mean... although it sorta took me a while to warm up to part 1... it just seemed so... different, you know?
I'm pretty sure Monk's right too... as you said, he always is. And I'm really happy he didn't kill the guy... I mean, when he was beating him up it was like "whoa... where'd this Monk come from?" I was happy to see him like that just because... I dunno, it was refreshing, I guess... but it was still a little bit of a shocker. There really is a tough, strong guy underneath all the phobias and wipes. (I always knew there was... ) yeah, I think you're right there... Monk and Stottlemeyer definitely had some sort of plan going at the end. To get more time or something, I guess. But it was just too... I dunno. Stottlemeyer would NEVER shoot to kill Monk... I just cannot see that. Ever. So it had to have been staged. I just can't wait to see all the little details. The 'why's and the 'hows', you know?
haha, the smoothe scene!!! that was great! Leave it to Randy....
the forest scene was funny too... he touched every tree? and really all those quirks about him saved him... since he cleans his clothes so well the dogs had trouble getting his sent and since he touched every tree they had trouble following his sent.

Okay. Part 2 of season finale.
WHOA.
AHHHHHHHHH!!! I forgot just how totally brilliant this show is.
Just, WOW. I absolutely loved this episode.
I felt SOOOO bad for Leeland. He took so much crap from Natalie. I just wanted to give him a hug. AWWW, I love Leeland! *SQUEE*
And even though Natalie was really mean towards him, I thought it was AWESOME that she just let him have it. I mean, HELL YEAH!!! She just ripped into him. I really liked Natalie in this episode. She kind of reminded me of Sharona. A LITTLE.
AHHHH! And that Randy/Natalie hug!! OH man, I nearly died. *SQUEEEEEEE* It was SUCH a touching scene and moment. And I loved that when she was arranging the pictures, they were all even and lined up.
Randy was a DOLL in this episode! OH my god. I love that man more and more every episode.
(OH my god -- the other day I was watching an episode of Stargate SG-1 and he guest starred in it! XD Oh man, he was HYSTERICAL!!! ... okay, that was REALLY random ... )
But his SONG! AWWWWWWWWW!!! And the black band things, "So it's even." *SQUEEEEEEE*
SPEAKING of Sharona...when Randy brought in the flowers from Sharona and Benji, I nearly had a heart attack. ACK! It didn't hit me until then, at that moment, how much I really miss Sharona. And I told myself not to get my hopes up of seeing her, but I think in the back of my mind, I just kept hoping. REALLY sad she didn't show up. *tear* But maybe, when the show is over, she'll make an appearance. Who knows.
Another thing I was disappointed about, was the ABSENCE of Dr. Kroger! I mean COME ON! WHY wasn't he there??? GRRRR. Kroger is the man, man.
And DALE THE WHALE?! *gasp* Rather sad it wasn't the original actor who played him. This guy was just really creepy. Maybe it was the extra long hair. XD
And saving the best for last, MONK.
Monk was AMAZING in this episode. I mean, just on top of his game.
I hate to say this, but I noticed that Monk wasn't as phobic as he normally is...which, I thought was really neat. I mean, he WAS ... but when he met Leeland on the beach, he was dirty and he walked on the sand just fine. And as I watched him walk down the beach, I thought, "Well, if we're only getting one more season, what a way to show how much he's grown." Did that make any sense? Or am I hallucinating or something?
But OH! Seeing him in JEANS!!! Normal street clothes and tennis shoes!! *SQUEEEEE* I thought he looked AWESOME.
And then he ran, and saved the day!! AHHHHHH!!!! Monk is SOOOOOOOO a hero!!! *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I love Trudy episodes! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!! SOO much mystery.
All in all, brilliant BRILLIANT season finale.

Ok, sorry I'm not making any referance to the end of series 6 - I don't really want to know. So I'll tell you about the chat instead.
Well yesterday on the forum, there was a post asking us to submit questions, and if there were any technical difficulties there would be some "spare questions". Then we were told to get to the chat 15 minutes before it started to submit our questions - so now everyone had seen everyone's questions. So I was submitting away, various times. Most people were getting sound and video on their screens, but I had nothing so I was panicking, especially as it was 3 minutes after the chat was supposed to start. I got my brother to see what he could do, and I was on my way out to rant to my mum when it started. There was no video, but I'm not sure if we were meant to see him anyway.
So anyway, he read out everyone's names (some idiot but a username in "dreamnagain" and he trouble deciphering that, but he was quicker than me) which really surprised me, as I thought he would just be talking. He read out everyone's locations and questions as well - he had to ammend bad grammar quite a few times - and originally I thought there was no way my name would get brought up because it's hard to pronounce, but I had hope when I saw all the other unusual names there were.
He took a few minutes break about 20 minutes into it, and 20 minutes later he couldn't see anymore questions, so he took another break.
I didn't get any of my questions read out, which was a bit disappointing - especially looking at the some of the dross that he was adked - "do you think the bobblehead of you is a good likeness?" - "what Monk merchandise would you like to see"? ....
Considering the questions were chosen before he got to answer them, I think on the whole the questions were quite boring. One of them "would you like to see a Monk/Psych crossover", you could hear people in the background where he was, and he said two or three times (I think he was talking more to them than us) "skip it, skip it", so that one never got answered.
A few things he said was that he thinks that the end of Monk will be where he finds Trudy's killer, he gets reinstated and that there is the feeling he will go back to how he pretty much used to be before Trudy was killed, and there will also be the feeling that the "team", Natalie, Stottlemeyer etc, will always be in touch with each other, and never lose the friendships. He also said that he thinks the only way Monk would be interested in a relationship would be when he discovers Trudy's killer, and even then he's not really sure as Trudy is such an important part of his life, even after he finds the murderer, she still will be. He got a laugh when he had to read "how do you stay so young looking" - he said he had a great make-up team, great lighting he tries to keep healthy and there is also cosmetic surgery.
It was great to hear him speak - he sounds just like Monk, lol - and I liked the fact he wasn't all cocky and "I'm used to doihg this", he just sounded normal, and was taking his time over questions and making sense (which always helps). I couldn't have done that, that's for sure.

MB, I KNOW!!!! this one was so awesome! Although I too noticed how un-phobic Monk was... it was rather strange, but still great to see him out there in the world, still mostly the same old Monk, but changed somehow. He seemed to grow so much. And Stottlemeyer!?! Oh, my gosh he was awesome in this ep!!!! he went through so, so much!!! Especially at the start having to keep all those secrets! haha, I loved it when Stottlemeyer saw what Monk changed his name to too. "Now that's just stupid."
and Randy was awesome... just everything about him was too much to comment on! Awesomness is about as close as I can get.
Although I found Natalie rather annoying... leading the sheriff right to Monk? yeah, she got on my nerves a little although she was awesome when she was telling Stottlemeyer off... even though he had good reasons not to tell anyone. And I know her going to Monk was understandable... if I was her I'd want to too... but there comes a point when his safety was pretty important too. I dunno, that's just my 2 cents.
ooo, haha! You noticed the Sharona part too!? I was so thrilled to hear that!
I thought Dale the Whale was an interesting touch... even if I didn't like the actor as much either... but it's interesting that he always seems to be connected with the Trudy case.... hmmmm.
JF, That sounds so COOL!!! Wow, I envy you right now! hmmm, but it also sounds rather... odd too. hmm, he skipped questions (although tis understandable, of course)? and he was absent through some of it? anyway, at least he was cool and down-to-earth and he actually TOOK the time to DO it! A ton of actors wouldn't. That is a really neat and unique thing, JF. I'm glad someone here got to partake in it!
anyway, other than that that sounds like a perfect end to the series... sorta sad still... but that's probably the best they’re gonna be able to do. And most of the reason why it's so sad is because it the end.

That was the one where Lenea had done that experiment that reversed her age and given people amnesia, right? Randy even has a bit of a stubble. He's cute.
The season finally made me so happy! The line of diologue (I can't remember exactly) where Leeland and Monk are walking on the beach together:
Monk:I feel different.
Leeland: Happy to be alive?
Monk: No, that's not it.
I did notice he was far less phobic than he normaly is. I liked it.
I loved the guitar piece for Randy's song, but not his voice. It was kindof annoying. I also thought it was hilarious when Leeland told Randy Monk wasn't dead, and Randy just sort of looks down, and Leeladn askes if he was alright, to which Randy replies "Yeah, its just that this was such a good song." And than leeland says to save it. Monk will die someday.
But Ahhhhh! The season is over! When will Monk return?
