Well maybe it's because she was poor when she had her daughter and she would sit in a cafe with a cup of coffee and she would write things and she started off very humbly....I notice they mention this background a lot.....and then it was a long, hard haul until her book was accepted and then a long time until people really liked them. And then all the money started pouring in and she buys a big house and then she's in the news because she's being stalked and then she complains that all the fame has brought her daughter trouble as she can't go to school because people know who her mother is....oh, it's terrible...

Sorry, I'm too cynical. But I hate the fact everytime she is talked about her humble beginnings are mentioned (I'm sure lots of people had a worse start in life but they never talk about it) and you know how the press are. Any old sob story and their right in. And whenever I see her she just seems to have this air of snootiness..typically British I am sorry to say..she just..annoys me...

I remember reading a letter once a few years ago from a single mother asking why if Rowling was a single mother herself and she knows what it's like are all the merchandise (this was before the films) so expensive? And it's a good point really as I later saw a documentary and it seems that she has a lot of control about what goes on the market and I'm sure she could have pulled strings to get the prices down. The problem is when people come into money they usually forget their roots.

Ok this is going to make me sound really stupid, I thought you were talking about Tonks,

But I agree totally with what your saying, JF. It is mentioned that she used to write in a cafe and take her daughter with her and all. And now.. its just like erg. But that's people for you, money makes you greedy. And you know there's something that the Media likes stories of people starting from nothing and then becoming a big hit that gets publicized a lot and yet half the time people don't like reading or watching about it.

That's because I have no patience to read your story and I feel stupid posting if I haven't read it :P I don't doubt that it's a lovely story, but once you get behind there's a lot to read.

Quote:
You see I don't particularly like Rowling. I mean she's like the richest woman in Britain after the Queen (!?) and I have never seen her smile or even look happy. You think children's authors would be bubbly and glad to be interviewed but I always get the impression it's a huge chore and she'd rather not be doing it. Well there are millions of people who would gladly do interviews if they knew they had her money in the bank.

Have you read many interviews with Rowling? Because I read one particular one with Melissa from the Leaky Cauldron and Emerson from Mugglenet more then once and I didn't get that impression at all. She was laughing through a lot of the interview and she seems to have a great sense of humour in what she's written on her site.

Maybe she just isn't a bubbly person. She clearly appreciates the fans, she granted two founders of a couple of the biggest HP websites an interview and she makes mention and thanks HP fansites on her website.

P.S: I'm by no means offended :)

Can I ask you all a question?

I am under the impression that in book 6 nothing really happens between Remus and Tonks...so why in the story are they calling each other dear? I mean, I'm probably wrong but I just wondered.

P.S I haven't ignored you Beri. Thank you for your opinions.

Well, if you mean like a kiss, it did not happened.I think Tan and Kit wrote dear in the story because they think they call each other like that now.We have to see in book 7 :-D You have to read HBP to understand what happens to Tonks and Remus :) (especially the chapter "The Phoenix Lament").
