I have a whole list of songs. They're on a sticky note in my Stickies application. Then I sort of have more general inspiration songs that I like for writing in general, but those are mostly soundtrack.
Hey, I like that song, Ellie. I shall youtube. I sort of associate Endlessly with Crystal too, but it sounds a bit...something...not emo enough S'why we have Skillet.

Pfft. SC does not need inspiration songs. It has a soundtrack.
Personally, I've found that I actually have difficulty writing posts with music playing. At least, if the music doesn't fit the mood of the post. So in the event that I am listening to music, it's basically just whatever soundtrack stuff I decide is appropriate at the moment.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant songs whose lyrics describe your characters or ones that simply inspire you to write.
Haha, potr. Don't we know it. And yeah, soundtracks are amazing. Anything by Hans Zimmer is epic win. What are your favorite posting soundtracks?

w00t for Hans Zimmer soundtracks.
My favourites are all, what do you know, by Hans Zimmer. ^_^ That would be Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, At World's End, and Dead Man's Chest.
Wow, I can't express just how much I wish I had the time to be in Crystal again. >_< It's still a lot of fun to read it, though. Brownie points to you all for keeping it alive.

Hans Zimmer soundtracks rock!
My favourites are Gladiator, the Last Samurai, the Lion King, Tears of the Sun, King Arthur and Prince of Egypt.
I actually prefer Klaus Badelt's soundtrack of the first PotC film although I must say that the track "At Wit's End" is not too bad.
Anyway, I guess this is a little of topic I realise that I haven't posted often here before but I love RPGing.

Hehe, Will. Not off-topic at all.
Thank you for the brownie points, Reindeer. They mean a lot to us. Really.
Gladiator is the main soundtrack for me, as I usually write fantasy and the others don't fit. Loreena McKennitt has some nice ones too. Her song "Dante's Prayer" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDw3CyOmj20 ) applies to almost all RP characters/epic heroes. If you have a female character who's even slightly angsty, might I recommend Within Temptation. And does anyone else listen to 300? Very inspirational for battle scenes--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5swOl3kzCbk

I find piano music at times very inspiring. Eric Satie's Gnossienne, Thomas Newman's American Beauty theme and the theme of Final Fantasy "Blue Fields" are currently my favourites

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm there, O Fearsome Violent One? o_O Hmm.
Gladiator has always been the most inspiring soundtrack for me. It provokes the most thought, and it fits a lot of various things. Music with lyrics, though, really messes me up when I'm writing, because if I'm not completely fixed on what I'm doing, I'll start typing out the lyrics instead of whatever I had been planning to write. <_<
So however cool Within Temptation is, or however much fun it is to listen to "Reclusion" while reading Kendath posts, it just doesn't work out for me.
I'm of the opinion that the soundtrack for CotBP is the most inferior of the PotC soundtracks, because it's waaaay too similar in places to the Gladiator soundtrack, which really throws me off when I listen to it. Dead Man's Chest is similar in places to the soundtrack from King Arthur, but that's not as noticeable, and elsewhere it's very original. At World's End isn't a ripoff of anything I know (or can think of, at least), so that one is the best, not counting the fact that even if it wasn't original the music would still be the best. IDTNITBT is great. ^_^

I like the King Arthur soundtrack a lot for writing in general. It's very epic. I've never used PotC in a writing context; it will always have a sort of piratey feel that is excellent, but not the one I'm looking for
As for music with lyrics, I do sort of know what you mean. A lot of the time I end up listening to music before I post or while I think, as a sort of mood-setting exercise, and eventually turning it off when I'm actually writing. Depending on how long the thinking takes, however, I tend to leave songs on repeat over and over and over again, resulting in those particular songs rocketing way up in play count. Like, WAY up. As in, 9 of the top 10 most-played songs in my iTunes library are Crystal ones, and I've listened to each of them about two times in the last few months. I think that's probably due to my obsessiveness over the summer.

Lol, Melda. That's really funny. ^_^ I have no idea what my most-listened-to songs are, except that Gladiator's really far up there, since I play it pretty much any time I do homework or anything I want to concentrate on. o_O

Yeah, I tend to use music more for contemplation and mood-setting than for while I'm actually posting. There are exceptions, though, especially if a certain song really fits the scene that we're currently in. Like, I'm pretty sure I had Two Hornpipes playing on loop for all of my posts during that one bar fight way back when in Phantom.
Music with lyrics never happens while I'm writing. Way too distracting. It's soundtrack or nothing.

Haha, Reindeer. Gladiator doesn't make me concentrate. All it does is make me want to lie down and sink into the music. Btw look it's Dante in your banner! Who's he from anyway?
Can anyone recommend any King Arthur tracks?

O_o? Dante? I'm not following you there...that'd be Russell Crowe as Ben Wade from 3:10 to Yuma. o_O
Haha, I do seriously concentrate to the Gladiator soundtrack. ^_^

Russell Crowe is Dante from Phantom Grey, as well. Well, he isn't in actuality, but FM uses him.
I've never heard Gladiator. I only have one track from King Arthur, but it's complete and utter epic awesomeness: Woad to Ruin.
