Depends on how much they powerplay my char. If its "And Tur mounted her horse." Then I'm okay with it, but if they totally take over my char, I'm all over them!!!

With power playing, I don't mind if someone does something small, that doesn't make that much of a difference in the plot. I can't think of a time that anyone's done anything big with one of my characters, but I think it would bother me if someone did something bigger with my character, or something out of character, I would be a bit bothered. lol

Lol, Pippin. It bugs me when people have overly-powerful characters, too, so when I start an RPG, I generally make rules that limit how powerful a character can be.

I haven't come across overly powerful characters recently, but it used to really bug in me in LotR RPs on various sites that people wanted so badly to make their character different that they made them a fairy or a werewolf or a shapeshifter. I used to get really mad at those people, and none of my characters were ever like that.

Grr.....I don't generally do that unless it's an RP that isn't set in any particular area (i.e....nobody ever says where it is, which leaves it open for question). If it was in Arda, for instance, I would not do that. And I hate Fairies (at least Shakespeare's versions), so....I doubt I'll ever play one of those, at any rate.
What's your avvy from, Meldawen?

Oh, it's PotC I have a whole stash of Will/Elizabeth ones. I'm using them from now until next May lol - not an ounce of J/E supported in me!
I don't mind fairies, but NOT in LotR. LotR has elves, dwarves, humans, orcs. That's it, people, work off there.

My characters are usually quirky and have a good outlook on life. They laugh in the face of danger. But I do have on chacter that I really like, and he's gloomy and dark. He's the only one I've written an in depth bio for. (You'll see him soon in the character section. His name is Kith)
What bugs me are Mary Sues. Oh they bug me. Perfect little elven maidens all pretty and dressed up and perfect and ready to fight. Gag me, please. I understand Elven maidens as warriors, I do, but some people go way overboard and make them perfect in every way.
Perfect warriors bug me too. I don't care how good you are, in a big battle you're going to get injured. It annoys me when people have thier characters come out unscathed.

I try to make "normal" characters too. At least, ones that are normal in the context of the RP. I don't like it either if characters are too perfect or powerful. It tends to frustrate me if characters are too powerful to fight against. It makes me think of games my brother and I would play when we were little-each time we "beat" each other, we'd come up with some excuse why that didn't work. lol
Perfect characters bug me too. Everybody has flaws, be they emotional, physical, whatever. I think characters that are "too good" tend to make the RP a little less believable.

Yes, same here. I see a lot of RPers trying to beat eachother with thier greatness, and it bugs me.

Really, Meldawen? For some reason Keira doesn't look like herself in that picture. I recognized Orlando, but not Keira. Hmm...
I know from experience to not make my characters wise mages or something - that never works out well. I just don't have all the wisdom to be able to write as a character like that very well....those are like, the hardest.
That's why I stick with warriors. They're some of the easier ones.
I try not to make my characters perfect warriors, but I do think it's kind of ridiculous if your character is getting wounded in every battle and everyone else is coming out fine....
but Mary Sues bug me, too. Grrr.
