Yeah, I had heard about that. But I have an explination for that too!! lol :P

It's pobably just my strange way of thinking but I always saw that relationship more as a mature relationship, where they were attracted to eachother more for the personalitys and the fact that they were good friends and enjoyed oneanother's company.

Anakin and Padme, on the other hand, seem to be more passion oriented... *shrugs* and that's the kind of relationship it seems hard for me to imagin Obi-Wan being in.

(given his Jedi training and his overall personality and all... )

But like I said... it's probably just my strange way of thinking that brings about all these conclusions. *shrugs*

Padme was passionate about the Republic, and Obi-Wan, i think, was passionate about the Jedi; something that could have been the uniting view. Anakin was, as i've said, selfish, while Padme AND Obi-Wan were both selfless and they put duty above their own interests. I think that the Ani\Padme relationship was very unrealistically based, because she seemingly can't STAND him in the beginning of AOTC, yet she seems to fall in love with him, or as she puts it, she "truly, deeply" loved him.

I don't get it.

Hm.. *shrugs* Perhaps you have a point.

Although.. they say opposites attract.

Who knows. But it's always fun to fantisize about how things might have been if something different happened.

I mean, theareticly, the smallest change could alter the course of the future so greatly that Luke might not even egsist! (I'm not saying whether thats a good or bad thing... :P )

I think Anakin's main problem was that he was so immature. and he didn't listen to Obi-Wan's advice or try to model Obi-Wan's personalitiies. (i.e. his patience for one thing) and I think his selfishness for Padme was a big reason he turned to teh dark side; I also think that he coudln't come to grips with the fact that it was something he COULDN'T control.

anyway...can't change what's already been done. :(

*pops out of the nowhere*

Gah! I feel like I should give up my title of co-founder... I'm awful at staying active in clubs. Sadly, I'm not really even here to post anything Obi-wan related. :(

Here's a bit of promotion for what'll be going on at the forum this summer -

*waves to Larael*

Yes. *nodds* Indeed much of his problem was lack of petience and a selfish nature. It would have been cool to see what the Republic would have became if Anakin did turn out like Obi-Wan... :)

*thinks happy thoughts*

and Luke and Leia might have had a better life. then again, Leia would probably never have met Han *which is the ONLY reason to watch the original trilogy! :p*

true; if Anakin had actually done what he was supposed to. And I don't think he was mature enough to handle marriage and the stuff that comes with it.

Yeah... not with all his emotional problems for sure!

I mean he was what... 19 when they got married.... that's to young... especially for someone with his emotional problems... his mother and all that stuff...

*nodds*

I can just see Obiwan and Anakin becoming leading members of the council and taking the Republic into another "glory age"

Just think if Qui-gon hadn't died. Then you would have all three of them on the council and it would really be a sound group of jedi!

though you have to remember, Qui-gon wasn't exactly "Jedi-strict" because he was more like Dooku. Strange how Obi-Wan turned out but maybe Anakin's temper tantrums made him older and wiser. :p

Yeah, Qui-Gon wasn't a strick follower of the rules all the time... but honestly I ytend to agree with Palpatine in the fact that the Jedi were becoming a bit dogmatic in their views.

That is even more evident in the later books when Luke is running the jedi accadamy. You can see that the rules are much less riggid.

That is why I think Qui-Gon would have done so good on the council because then you have him on one side, Obi-Wan in the middle (a more thoughtfull and all-round possition) and then the rest on the traditional side.
i think it would make for a nice "happy-medium" so to speak.

Besides, Qui-Gon (though not the most powerfull Jedi) was one of the most wise. He could see Anakin was the chosen one when no one else but Yoda could.

but I also think that Obi-Wan was correct in his reservations of Anakin's training. I think that this line really was something that echoes true in ROTS:

"The boy is dangerous. They all sense it, why can't you?"

how true, yet nobody listened to Obi-Wan. :(

Indeed. Obi-wan did sense what Yoda and Mace were sensing. (anakin's ddangerouse and clouded future)

But honestly, I think Qui-Gon sensed it as well. I just think he chose to ignore it because of the fact that he knew Anakin was the chosen one.

And then, the only reason Obi-Wan went against his prior assesment was beccause he prommised Qui-Gon he would train Anakin as he was dying.

(on a side note... thought of a cool thing for an answering machine. "Obi-Wan can't come to the phone, please leave a message after the tone." ) :)
