I'm trying to find a happy medium there - I always feel it's unrealistic to fight orcs and come out completely unscathed, but at the same time it gets repetitive to get wounded every single battle.

Mary-Sues...sigh...hard to avoid and even harder to tolerate. That's why I'm trying to make more male characters, because there's just too much penchant for my females to go all Mary-Sue on me.

Not a huge loss, IMO, lol. I never realllly liked Keira. But yeah, it's PotC. I may switch it soon. I need an Elizabeth/Will banner, too.

I'm a bit confused as to exactly what Mary-Sues are? Is it a real wimpy girly-girl? Or the opposite? Or what?

^I believe they're elven maidens that are beautiful, flawless, noble, and great warriors. I've encountered such and found them very irritating. But then again, all my elves are evil.

Has anyone else noticed that the world of rping seems to be divided into three extremes:
1. The person who creates the problems, starts the battles, complicates/advances the plot. Good side is that they make the plot more interesting. Bad side is that the plot moves too fast.
2. The person who goes along with the flow.
3. The person who has an extraordinarily powerful character who kills all the difficulties/opportunities that Person 1 creates. Good side is that this advances the plot too and creates opportunities for new plots. Bad side is that no action ever happens.

I think I'm more of a 1-ish, and I can't stand the Person 3 extremities.

About the Mary sues. Do't forget the fact that they're all having a secret love affair with Legolas! Makes it seem like Legolas is a player.... *growls*

I am somewhat of a mixture of 1 and 2. Somtimes I feel wierd taking the lead when it's some one elses RP. But then, I guess once they start it the plot is loose and flying, and anything can happen. I'm working on that.

Number three people bug me too. For goodness sake, your character isn't Eru!

That is really really interesting. I'm a person number two, because my RPs always seem to die. But I don't stand around doing whatever, I like my character to be unique and add a twist of some kind to the RP. My mom is kicking me off to go to bed. So I'll go work on my male elf who still hasn't decided whether he's evil or good. No, wait, I have to study science. Never mind.

I'm kind of a combination of all three, depending on what mood I'm in. Most of the time, I'm a two-leaning-towards-three type of player (I'm definately NOT a full three, though), but I do like to start battles, and create difficulties for other players, so I'm a #1 at times, too.

Btw which side do you ppl mostly like to choose? The good or bad? I mean good characters mostly would live a peaceful life, if there wouldn`t be a conflict as where evil characters are the troublemakers.

I mostly like evil characters all tough I like good characters now and then, but my most succesgul characters are probably neutral characters whom try to stay away yet have their own opinions & values trough, which they get into the trouble.

I tend to play on the 'good' side, Curunir, or rather, whichever side the majority of the people in the RPG are taking - I don't like 'playing' against other people. Only a few people can do it well enough to not have the whole RPG crash and burn.

I'm mostly impartial, though I do really enjoy getting into villain PoV every now and then. For some reason, I've always loved to take a story and flip it around to look at it from the villain's perspective- why they turned evil in the first place, why they're doing what they're doing, what they think of the heroes, etc. I especially enjoy playing the more 'proper' villains (Palpatine, Cutler Beckett, Count Dracula, Barbossa). Something about them just makes them extra fun. :vampire:

I'm usually a type 2 RPer, with some type 1 thrown in.
I usually play mostly good characters, I don't think I've ever played a strictly evil character, I have played a few that aren't totally good, sort of inbetween.

I tend to have good characters. I seem to be one of the only males though. The RPs are full of females playing female characters, and a few males playing male characters. I seem to be one of the few females who plays males.

I've been playing more male characters lately. I have about 4 female characters in active RPs, and about 7 males.

Lol, being a male, I play a male frequently. I would hate trying to play a female character.....that would probably turn out awful. My sisters would kill me.

That's how I feel about playing male characters, I never know what to do or say. Sigh. I'm working on it though!
