True, PD.

What to discuss...? Would discussing everyone's thoughts on Jackabeth be relevant? Or has that already been discussed?

I don't know if that would be relevant or not. I guess we could always try.

I am completely against Jackabeth. That kiss in DMC never should have happened; maybe Will wouldn't have turned out to be so deceitful in AWE...of course, Elizabeth should have come out and told him that it was nothing.

I agree Sparrabeth is completely disgusting. It represents the lust in the world, Whereas Willabeth represents purity.

The only defense about the kiss in DMC is that if it had not happened Will, Elizabeth, Jack, and the entire crew would have died. Although it was still wrong, Elizabeth knew it was the only way that some of the crew, including Will, would survive. She still should have told Will, but that just shows that the characters are human and make mistakes.

I agree, Jackabeth wouldn't have been nearly as amazing as Willabeth is. Will and Elizabeth are truly and genuinely in love. I understand why Elizabeth kissed Jack, but it made me really angry at the same time, as it was supposed to. She did it to save the rest of the crew, but at the same time, broke Will's heart. After all he had done to save her so they could be together, I thought that what she did was really ungrateful. But for me, anyway, by AWE, she had completely redeemed herself, especially with that speech she gave the crew of the Pearl.

I can see your point Miluiel, but what Elizabeth did was mostly for Will. Had Jack come with them the Kraken would have gotten everyone. Elizabeth knew they could not outrun the Kraken, so in order to save Will's life she had to leave Jack behind. Of course the only way to get Jack to stay would be to trick him and there really is only one way to do that. I fully understand why she did it, although I don't agree with her not telling Will about it. It was a terrible thing to have to do, but when she basically was choosing between Jack and Will's life, I can't be surprised that she did it.

You are right though, she completely redeemed herself in AWE.

i don't think anybody redeemed themselves in AWE *except for maybe Jack; being selfless in letting Will stab the heart* but we won't go into that. ;)

Yes, I agree, CB, not telling Will was probably her biggest mistake. I don't really buy into her "it wasn't your burden to bear" explanation. I think it was absolute rubbish.

Anyhow! I don't think I would have liked Pirates as much if the writers had made a Jackabeth.
