Yeah that issue has been raised by many people, and a lot of time on Mugglenet. But most people seem to think it wouldn't work, thinking portraits only carry the personailty of the person otherwise portraits could be a lot more infulential. I think it would be interesting though.
You know.. I wonder, can Tonks transform into like anything? Or does it have to be human related..
For being in charge, I think Remus is the most logical choice, maybe like Kinsley or something though

Tonks is only able to transform her physical traits --- y'know, so she can't change into an animal or any other type of animal.

Meh, that would still be dangerous for her -- I mean, when Remus turns into a werewolf, he'd kill anything in sight if he didn't have the potion....blast, what is it called...

He wouldn't kill an animal, because remember Sirius and James would keep him in line at first, and he relaxed around them or something

I thought that the reason why the other Marauders became animagus were so that they could share that somewhat similarity of transforming with Remus. However, like depicted in the movie, Remus -- without his potion -- could harm any creature even when he's not conscious of it.

Well yeah they became animagi to be able to share that with him. But James and Sirius had to be larger animals to keep him in line, and Peter to be able to get to the knot safely. I think he might hurt other animals, but rarely, cause werewolves would prefer humans more

Bah....what is the name of that POTION. It's KILLING ME.
Anyways. Back to Tonks. 
Again, I'm just really really really hoping that Rowling didn't write Tonks off like she did with Luna, well Luna was still in the book but she didn't impend any PART. At all.

I wonder what Tonk'll be like too.. although I don't know how much we are going to see of everyone.. cause like its focusing on Harry and the Horcrux.. hah that would be funny if that was the name of the seventh book,

Actually --- is there even going to BE a wedding? I mean, is she going to write the wedding at all? Because she has a lot on her plate to conclude the series ---- I mean, since she formed the Horcruxes in the last book, she has to bring the other Horcruxes in and write about what Harry will do to destroy them.
If Rowling doesn't write much about Remus and Tonks then well...

Without Tonks we wouldn't have nearly as much comic relief to all of the dramatic tension!! Must.. include...TONKS!
