I love her reasoning for that. "You two were chucking tools at each other." It's just like the little child who says to his mum after she catches him doing something that he shouldn't. "But other people are doing it." The only reason why I loved that was because of Owen's retort. " We didn't miss." Oh while we're on Day One, she does that entire profile of her. And for what? Nothing! I'm sure Toshiko would have found where she worked without Gwen's help. Quote: Countrycide. The 'who you last snogged' game. See as oblivious!Gwen manages to hurt Tosh and Ianto's feelings... and then leaves to go discuss her OWN feelings with Owen. Yeah, definitely! She knew Tosh really didn't have much of a social life and Ianto was still devastated after Lisa. I'm sure Owen said that just to stab at Gwen back for bringing up everyone's social life. It's her own fault, after all. Quote: Combat. Gwen, who cares so much about Rhys, Retcons him after admitting that she's been cheating on him. Cowardly much? I just shook my head at that scene. Did Gwen really expect Rhys to say that? Quote: End of Days. She stunguns Rhys while he's cleaning the oven. Cruel. And then locks him in the Weevil cells. ...? Shouldn't she be watching him, if she cared that much? And then she sits with Jack while he's dead, like she didn't just help almost destroy the world. Oh and let's remember WHY she went with Owen's plan. To bring Rhys back to life. Jack had a really good point when he said "Yeah, because you love Rhys so much, you spend half your time in Owen's bed." And instead of actually BEING with him, she's just standing near Jack's cold body. Quote: Fragments. Hah. She overslept. I know! And that's not the first time she did that. She did it once in Adam. Personally, I think the team just waited until they were on the mission to tell her about it. Especially what happened in Adrift. (I really wanted to see Owen, Tosh, and Jack give her a look that said "Told you so" or actually say that to her.) Quote: Exit Wounds. Her grand plan for getting Cardiff back together was to have the police go door-to-door and say 'it's gonna be OK.' Sounds like that's going to accomplish a lot.
I didn't even get the point of that. What really really really really really really annoyed me in Exit Wounds was Jack, Gwen, Ianto, and John (no offense to the three guys) were having their hug fest while Toshiko and Owen were dying trying to stop the nuclear reactor. I was like during that scene.
Oh and could someone PLEASE tell me what exactly Gwen does? Everyone else has a job.
Jack - leader of the team, manages all of the field operations
Owen - Medic of the team, dissects alien corpses to find out more about them, performs autopsies to identify how they died
Toshiko - technical expert of the team, manages all the technological equipment, monitors the Rift, figures out what the machines and devices that fall from the Rift do
Ianto - support of the team, cleans up after everyone (VERY useful), serves coffee and tea (I don't know about you lot, but I would be practically thanking Ianto on my knees if he gave me coffee and tea every day if we were working together. (Probably would like to do more on my knees..but never mind that..)) , does the Torchwood archives (sorting through about a hundred years worth of information is a lot harder than it sounds).
Gwen..what do we know about her role in Torchwood. She sticks paper and pictures on walls..That's very helpful.
Sorry, just had to rant at Gwen and her uselessness for a while.

I think I read that she's the 'Alien Profiler.'
... Whatever the hell that is.
And then she's supposed to be the caring one who makes them human, but I think there are only two people who believe that; RTD and Eve Myles. Ha, JB and GDL both said that Ianto's the one who keeps them going and makes Jack human.
Gwen's pretty much useless. I have yet to figure out when she's actually proved to be useful to the team.

Haha, how do you "profile" an alien? It's not really like profiling a human being, taking their habits and making an assumption based on average human behavior. How do you do that with an alien?

First Martha, now Gwen. Really?
Yes, she has faults. Yes, she's not perfect. None of the team are and have all messed up at one point or another. That's why I love Torchwood so much, they are all not perfect. They are all seriously flawed and have deep issues that make them interesting characters.

Oh, I'm not a Gwen hater, actually. I never had a problem with Gwen. I was just commenting on being an "alien profiler." I find it ridiculous. But no, I really am of no opinion on Gwen. I think she can be an idiot, but Owen did some pretty stupid nonsense too, and I don't hate him either.

I'm not quite sure what's ment by "alien profiler" I think she's an important part of the team, but not because she's an "alien profiler."
Sure, Gwen has some faults, but that's just human. And, given the fact that she just joined a secret organization involving aliens and life threatening situations, I think she's done a very good job. In my opinion, its much better that she's faulted like a human than turned into some super Mary-Sue woman.

Sorry, Tar. That looked like I aimed at you and that wasn't my intentions.
I was just speaking in general terms.
Naur: That's it exactly. If she did everything right, then she'd be at fault for being a Mary-Sue. Faults are what make a person whole and for the most part make them likeable to me.

She does have her Mary-Sue moments though. Like every man she meets is madly in love with her, and she ends up in life-threatening situations and miraculously manages to get saved just before she dies.
It's not that I have a problem with characters having faults, it just seems like Gwen has a bit too many. And the producers and writers keep trying to shove the Gwen they originally intended down our throats, even though she developed completely different. Ya know what I mean?

Every man falling in love with her or her getting into dangerous scrapes are not really character flaws. I can see where you're coming from with the everyone falling in love with her aspect. I feel somewhat the same way about Jack and also the Doctor. It's nauseating at times, but it's the writers fault so I can't blame the character.

Haha, but the Doctor and Jack are gorgeous. I mean, Gwen's pretty, but she's not exactly a knock-out. But Jack is really ridiculously handsome, and Tennant's just a pimp.

I guess it's just a matter of taste, but I think Eve Myles is really very pretty. They seem to dull her down in the show, but in the promo shots she looks stunning. Granted, she's not exactly Meh Toshiko though

Well, T-D, I have to congradulate you. You are the first I've ever heard to call DT a pimp. I have agree (he be pimpin').
I also don't understand shy men are always falling for her. Its just not true. Grah!

Dude, Tennant is totally a pimp.
Anyway, I'm getting very annoyed at waiting for Torchwood. I was just thinking the other day about what I would do if John Barrowman wasn't on the show anymore, and I'm not sure if I would. If both John and Gareth weren't on it, I definitely wouldn't watch it.

The only way I'd stop watching it, was if it began to suck in the storyline department. Cast changes I can handle.

Normally it's the same for me, but I have to be honest with myself. Without Ianto's one-liners (and epic looks) and Jack's charm, Torchwood isn't Torchwood anymore.

Without Jack it would be the Gwen show. And Gwen is fine in small doses, but the more Gwen there is the more annoying she is, and therefore the more annoying the show is.
I wouldn't watch if Jack ended up with Gwen, though, because then it would be exactly like every other show on the air.
And I don't think I'd like it very much if they kiddified it any more than they've already done. Which is why Martha and Mickey need to stay away.
