Hey guys! I'm back! I have been so busy lately. No free time whatsoever. And I probably won't have any more until the weekend. Not even just school, but other things as well, plays and such. But I'm back! It's good to know you guys missed me. I always find myself thinking about my A-U friends in RL situations. Does that happen to you guys?

Forever, thank you so much for posting the vid. I loved it. I know it was meant to be slash, but really, if you don't view it that way, then there's nothing wrong with it. It ends up being beautiful. Good song. Greatest friendship ever. How can you go wrong?
Yes, I HATE slash, particularly Frodo and Sam slash. How people can take the most beautiful friendship ever and turn it into something sick....... I just can't stand it.
I liked all of your metaphors for their friendship.
Oh, and I like Arwen too Itarilde. ;) Frodo is, of course, my favorite, but Arwen is nice too.

So, I have a lot to catch up on, and now is not the best time for posting but I wanted to come on and make sure you all knew I was alive.
Just thinking about this, how would you know if someone died or not? If I died, how would you guys know? Weird. The thought just strcuk me. Kind of morbid really though. Thinking happy thoughts........:P

^Glad to see you're back, at least briefly.... ;) (You're right, that is morbid :confused2: ...i'm not sure how you would know, actually. But let's move to happier thoughts, you're right. ;) ) Hope schoolwork doesn't succeed in killing you, lol.

Itarilde, i never meant that you were taking my ideas. I didn't know what i said sounded that way...i just liked your ideas as well, including the one that was inspired (if i understand correctly) by both of our metaphors. ;)
I like Arwen too, though of course Frodo takes the lead. Hmm...seeing as you say it's a close call, i suppose we'll have to forgive you for Frodo not being your top fave. Just kidding! :P Thanks for letting me know who you liked best, btw...i'd been curious on that subject, just b/cause i didn't know for sure. ;) It's nice to know all of us who regularly post on here (at this point) adore Frodo, though. :) (Big surprise--it's the Frodo Club. :P )
I agree (of course ;) ), Frodo and Sam's friendship is absolutely beautiful, and if you don't want to think about it in the way that perhaps was meant, that video can be just a beautiful tribute as well.
Oh and TT...hmm, let's see...i talk about my A-U.com friends to my mom quite frequently, and sometimes to my sisters as well. I think I may have occasionally mentioned you to one of my RL friends...That reminds me, I also mentioned you in particular, TT (though not by name--well, username, i mean) in an informal essay for my creative writing class, lol... (It was about how I became obsessed with Evanescence, lol. I mentioned that--as i believe you told me?--My Immortal had been your favorite song of theirs at one time, just like it was mine at first, though now for both of us it's My Last Breath. At least, i think i mentioned that it was your fave song of theirs too, now... Anyway, if you want i could post my essay in the writing section, or something.)
I think i'll end this post now.

That's so cool Eariel! I feel honored that I was mentioned in your essay. I'd really like to read it if you wouldn't mind posting it.
Just because Frodo isn't your favorite chracter doesn't mean you don't love him. He wasn't always mine. Mine used to be.......... gosh this is painful to admit...... alright, Legolas. :P But not just because Orlando Bloom played him or anything, but because I really love Elves and Legolas seemed like a cool one. Of course, I've always loved Frodo, but he wasn't always my favorite. He came to be very soon though, and now he's....... he's just special. He's just Frodo. he has a hold on a piece of my heart. But I think Arwen might be my favorite female. I always have so much trouble deciding between her and Eowyn. Ah well, it's not so important. Just wanted to throw that in there.
Ok. I have a bit of writing I want to go do, but I'll be back later! :D

I just wanted to make sure you weren't insulted or anything Eariel. No harm no foul, let's just put it behind us.

And you're right TT, Legolas is definately special. He's probably one of my fav. male characters (after Frodo of course). But like I already said, there's just something about Arwen I love.

^Me too, i think. :) And i've come to like Legolas as well--for one thing, he seems to be an ENFP (if you've heard of the Myers-Briggs personality types?), which I am as well. So that kind of gives me an affinity with him, lol. (And I do have to admit that i like the way Orlando played him very much. :P )
Btw, thanks for your wanting to make sure. Behind us it is. ;)

Anyway, back to Frodo...You're right, TT--you can love characters and not have them be your absolute favorite, like i do with Arwen and Aragorn (and Legolas, i guess... :P ).
Btw, I wouldn't mind posting my informal essay where i mentioned you--i'm just not sure where. Do you think i should put it in the fanfiction and poetry section? Maybe I should put a note in my post advising mods to move this or let me know if it's in the wrong place...
Returning to Frodo, I wasn't really "into" LotR before i fell in love with him, so to speak :P (then i went from zero to sixty, sort of ;) ), so...i may have had a "fave character," but as i recall i liked them all just "okay', and not much more. Until reading the part of TTT that takes place in Ithilien...there it was that Frodo caught my heart. :)

^ I have done that personality thingy. I can't remember what I was though. Maybe an INFJ? Is that even possible? That's what keeps coming to me. Probably way off though. I'll have to take it again.
As for the essay, your guess is as good as mine. I have no idea. However, I think if you leave the mods a note, you should be ok. They'll undestand. It's hard to figure out where to put things sometimes.
Wih LOTR, the way I started loving it was weird. When I read them and wacthed them, I knew while Iwas doing it that I loved them, but after I was done, like right after, I didn't really realize how much I loved it. I think I was getting over the whole shock of Frodo going away at the end. But, after some time passed, I started thinking about it, and I realized how special LOTR was and how much I really loved it. That was the start of my LOTR fandom, and I am now the LOTR fan that you see before you today. But yes, something about Frodo touched me from the beginning. Even though he wasn't my favorite at first, he was always special. And he still is. I don't even remember a certain moment or scene where it happened like you do Eariel. It was more of me becoming aware of a feeling that I had been feeling for awhile.

Well, i don't remember an exact moment where it "happened"--it was more a process. ;) Btw, your fandom story is cool. :) I like it. That's more than i can say about how i felt about Frodo at first--at the beginning i was like, "Who's this Frodo person? Bilbo's the one I know." Then i guess by the end of FotR he was "okay," but of course the second half of TTT (the part about Frodo and Sam) changed all that. ;) *is happy to be a Frolass* :) Yes, he's very special.
Thanks--it's good to know the mods will be forgiving if i leave a note, lol. I was thinking i could put it in the Your Life section, and then of course say they can move it if it should be moved. *puts on mental to-do list* :P
Btw, you do seem like an NF to me. (There are four main personality temperaments, and then sixteen types within them--four types to each temperament, if that makes sense.) I'm an NF too--we tend to be the dreamy, poetic types whose goal is to "be who we truly are". If you can understand what i just said (in quotation marks, i mean), then it means your probably an NF. Non-NFs can't understand it as well, i'm told. Frodo's an INFP, btw. :) (And I'm an ENFP, to be exact--so that means that we both share three letters with him, if you truly are an INFJ. Lucky us. :) )

Edit: I've posted my essay! Here's the link:

Hullo, girls, I'm sorry for the delay. My parents decided to limit my (apparently a bit too big) Internet consumption---which is annoying, but I can understand their point of view. Perhaps they're right about computers making you an addict, but anyway.

That means I won't be able to come here every day, but there's also the school computers and I'll be trying to keep up-to-date. ;-)

TT, I'm glad you're back! Don't let school kill you, I'm trying very hard to do so myself :P

Well, I've not the remotest idea what you are talking about with ENFP, NF and whatever. I feel like an idiot, really.

Eariel, I'll read your essay soon. The stuff that pupils in the US have to do for school is amazing. I mean, essays and papers about such personal topics. I wouldn't even dream about that. We are writing much more scientific or political things, like for example, analysing a speech by a politician. :-( Which can be kind of interesting, too, but it isn't that personal as writing about Evanescence, of course. ;-)

I don't talk about my online friends to my RL life friends. They don't understand why I love LotR, and they don't understand why I have to talk about it in internet forums. I get this look any time I mention it:

Forever! *tacklehugs* It's so good to see you again! It seems like it's been awile! That stinks about the parents be more strict about the computer. It happens. :( I'm glad you're back anyways.

As for the personality thingy, I googled it and you can take it for free here:
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp
Don't worry Forever, you're not an idiot. I think they made us take it in school which is the only reason I knew what it was.
I took it again and found out that I am indeed and INFJ. Eariel, yes, I did understand what you put in quotation marks, so I guess I'm a true NF. :P That's so cool that we both share two letters with Frodo! Hey.... wait a minute. How could Frodo have taken that? I guess somebody just analyzed his character very deeply and answered for him or something. :) How did you find that out though, just out of curiosity?

I read most of your essay. It was very good. I liked it. You made me laugh at some places, and that's always a good thing. You write very well in essays as well it seems.

I'm off to go and post in the other club then! :bye2:

Oh, I feel so terrible for leaving so long,
but I'm back. :] I suppose I dont really have a veyr long history in this club either, though. :-p

Thanks for posting the vid FF! It was really very beautiful. I think it's so disgusting that people can take something as beautiful as the undconditional lovethat these two share in thier friendship and make it something to laugh at. It's so terrible, especially because to a lot of us it represents something, ya know?
*sigh*

I promise, i shall be a more active member of this club. :]

Welcome back, Ms.Gamgee. :) Don't feel bad about not posting for a long time. ;)
And you shouldn't feel stupid about not knowing what the personality thingies are, Forever. ;) (If you want, here's a site that explains more about it. Speaking of the free personality test TT posted, if you decided to take it we'd be happy to know what type you are--that is if you didn't mind telling us. I've heard that some prefer not too, which is fine of course. ;) )
http://www.keirsey.com/
I've become really interested in the Myers-Briggs theory, and so...i guess that explains why it came up, at least partly, lol. Well, TT, someone did analyze Frodo deeply, so to speak... :innocent: You see, I rather enjoy figuring out what types my friends and even charaters in books are...so, you can guess who analyzed him in this case. ;)
Forever, about the essay--it's not that i had to write about Evanescence (i didn't even have to take the class, which i took a few years ago as well--it's just that i enjoy it so much, lol). It's a creative writing class, so it is of course by nature more personal than regular reports and stuff. ;) But anyway, I enjoyed writing that informal essay--so don't worry about me in that regard. ;) (Glad you you liked it btw, TT. It was written in kind of a humorous vein, so i'm glad it made you laugh. :P ) I respect you for the more political essays you do over there, though, Forever. To me, those are rather difficult. ;)
Btw, I'm sorry about your limited online time. Well, we'll be glad to see you when you can be on. ;)

To Ms. Gamgee: Welcome back! It's always nice to have another Frodo fan around!

To everyone: I realized I have a ridiculous amount of typos in my previous post. :yuck: I know how to spell awhile for one, and I remember that Eariel said that we both share three letter with him instead of two, like I accidentally typed.

To Eariel: That's so cool! Don't worry, you don't have to be embarrassed at all. For someone who's a dedicated fan like you, I'm sure it was fairly accurate. :D

I take a creative writing course too, but it's not that great. The "leader" never actually enforces people writing, and she doesn't really take charge. She asks us what we want to do. In some cases, that would be nice, but with a bunch of unmotivated people, you need someone who actually motivates them. A lot of times I'll come in and I'm one of two or three people who have actually written something. :( It's fun though. We don't write about things we enjoy or anything like that, but we have prompts and we all write a poem, short story, whatever we like based on the prompt. For the kinds we use, I tend to do short stories mostly. It's fun.

So...... we seem to be going drastically off topic here. Frodo related topics anyone?

Ah TT, I love you despite your spelling oopsies.

I wish I could take a creative writing course. It's not offered any where I live. But sorry, I can't think of anything Frodo related specifically.

Aw, thanks TT. Good to know you believe in me, (or at least the accuracy of my analysis of Frodo's personality), so to speak. ;) Don't worry about the typos, lol. That's cool about the writing class, btw. I'm glad it's fun despite the lack of motivition among (at least some of) your classmates. I know that can be kind of discouraging.
As to Frodo-related topics, I might be able to help you out there. Speaking of creative writing classes, a few days ago (well, yesterday and the day before), I wrote a poem (well, it's actually a song) that I may turn in as my "author's choice" project for the class, and i though you might like to see it. ;)
This is another one from Frodo's point of view, about when he's realizing that he can't live his old life anymore. Hope you like it.

Rainsong

Drowning in the tears of heaven,
Through rainfall glimm'ring grey
Alone I seek the light of Even,
Ere Twilight fades away:
Lost in the darkness,
Will I find myself?

Can you hear the song
That echoes in the storm:
I've listened to it long
By a window safe and warm--
And I wander through the rain now...

Elusive as a memory,
The ghost of Light is haunting me:
Let go of who I used to be--
Fly free...!

Earth will only break me--
West-way, will you take me?--
To light I'm lost--too dark the cost:
Varda, don't forsake me!

Neath wind-torn clouds, the raindrops sparkle--
A glass where starbeams spill:
At prismed brilliancy I marvel--
The storm is growing still:
Lost in the starlight,
I know I'll find myself...

Can you hear the song
That echoes through the sky?--
I listen and I long
To unfurl my wings and fly--
Soaring in the Dawnlight!

My choice is made--this life is past--
On the rain-veil all my hope is cast:
I'll cross the Sea with star-white mast
At last...

Home to the West--
Home to the West!

That was beautiful, Eariel. I know I sound like a broken record, but there's nothing else I can say. :-) I discovered a certain Evanescence influence ---speaking of some particular words and the strong metaphors ;-)

I can't wait till you get your site up!! :bounce:

(Oh, and btw: I finally had the time to read your essay. It was amazing! I like the light sense of humour between the lines... and yet, you brought me to understand something. I never knew what was meant by the words "Look for me in the white forest/Hiding in a hollow tree (Come find me)" in "My Last Breath". And now I read your interpretation and I see that it's almost obvious that the "white forest" is a cemetary and the "hollow tree" a casket. Sorry for the depressing topic, but I was kind of happy about having found out the meaning - even a very sad one...)

I feel just like you Forever. But what else is there to say? Weve already gone through a whole long list of superlatives for Eariel's poems. WQhat else is there? There's never a bad one int the lot. So what else can we say?

Eariel as always, well done. Superb. Smashing. Lovely. This is why I trust your analysis of Frodo. Look at your poems. You have the ability to go inside Frodo's mind almost and take the feelings he was feeling at that moment and put them into a beautiful poem. It's a gift. like Forever, I can't wait til you get your site up. :bounce:. People say that patience is a virtue, but if it is, then it;s a virtue I don't possess. :P

As for the song........ I always knew that the feel of it, the message of it was telling someone goodbye, that you were going to die, but I guess that those lines never really made sense to me in that way. I never connected that. Until I read it in your essay. It [i]is[/is] a sad thought, but it's so perfectly sad that it's [s]almost[/s] beautiful. Sometimes there is beauty in sorrow. I think Tolkien knew that. You see it so much in his writing. Out of pain and suffering comes beauty and love and healing.
