I've never really played them either. I am just one of those people just prefers just watching them and getting the thrill of the screaming and the cheering.

Same here! - Meaning I only really like sports that don't bore me to tears while watching. (aka football) Golf seems to be the exception because I actually play it occasionally instead of watching everybody else!
Btw: You guys mind if i join?
GO USA! (especially us Americans from the great state of Washington!)

I don't care for football that much, but other than that I loooove playing almost any sport ('cept cricket, that's boring).
Maybe I don't like football cuz I don't understand it much, I mean, once we were playing touch football and every time they planned a play, I'd have to ask them to repeat it in English.

Woot! This club is back.
Okay, I have a question for you Americans. ONe that has been bugging me for only Eru knows how long. It is known that America has the highest legal drinking age. We're not allowed to drink legally until 21 but...we're allowed to join the military and fight for our country at 18.
They say we're not mature enough to drink at 18. They did try experimenting with 18 in the 70's. My mom was a teenager in the 70's and she told me about this and from what I remember her telling me is that they found out that we were obviously not mature enough to handle drinking at 18.
I'm sorry but I personaly think this law needs a change. They say we're not mature enough to drink at 18 but we can join the military? It makes a lot of courage and maturity to get involved in something as serious as the military. I always thought 18 was too young anyway, even though you are no longer a minir. At 18, a lot of people are still in high school. (I myself had a whole year left) But then again, go back to the days of the American Revolution, if I remember correctly, one could join at 16.
Does anyone else think that this law should be changed as well? This is only my personal opinion but I'm curious to what everyone else thinks.

I don't really have any comment on that, apart from the fact that everyone is different, things change over generations...
And I do think 18 is a little young to be letting youth have at alcohol without any adult supervision.

Yes, they seriously choked the last few times they've gotten to the Superbowl. Last time they should of had that win in the bag. *cries*
As for your question, I honestly believe even adults can even be dumb enough not to "drink responsibly." Still their adults, and they have rights that we can't infringe upon. Ironically the age for drinking is different for the same reason too. The state government is given sovereignty over laws concerning the citizens welfare, safety, etc. The federal government is in charge of - in this case - national security. A younger age for enlistment would mean more soldiers, particularly at 18 since the are just starting to getting into the world of "jobs" and "college." By age 21 some of these citizens will have found, and dedicated themselves to jobs elsewhere and will have found other means of getting a college education. Thus for the benefit of the nation we have a lower enlistment age. As for drinking well... That's more of a hazard, particularly among college students. Lately they get so drunk in one sitting that some people have died! By age 21 they will hopefully gotten past the partying phase. So for the sake of the general welfare of the citizens the drinking age is higher.
So, whether I like it or not it's probably not going to change. (Oi - that was a mouthful! Politics is just so... You know?)

It was devastating, actually. Only the Seachickens could lose after scoring 14 points in the first two minutes of the game.

like whoa... let's not talk about drinking and underage drinking, ne? that's a little personal for some members of the board... (like me) and I really don't want to offend anyone.
anyway, I'm back from the dead, fellow Americans :] its been a long time, but finally, I'm back.
and wanderer? I might have to take you up on those prayer requests.

I'd like to join!
I live in good 'ol Iowa, and you can thank us all for your corn!
Oh, and your first caucus.
And, btw, we're only 97% white because no one wants to live here.
That's what your stereotyps did, so stop complaining about our "lack of diversity"

It's actually pretty nice here, unless you come here in the winter. Well, unless you're used to the winter.
Our weather is so ridiculous. I've never seen anything quite like it anywhere else.
I'm curious; does anyone else call soda just plain "pop" where they live? I've heard it's just an Iowa thing, but I'm not sure.

^ Yup, I'm a pop person.
Though I'm not sure if it's a Michigan or Washington thing, cuz I kinda grew up in both and have a mixed accent... though it's more Washington.
