What happens if some hoodlum pulls a gun on them? we do have armed response units that can be called to a scene if someone does pull a weapon, but we'd rather the 'hoodlum' was just talked down then arrested. to be honest, i think we're quite right not to issue guns to beat officers. i for one would not feel in any way reassured by the knowledge that there were people with guns walking down my street, even if they are police officers (we know even specialist arms officers can mess up, as evidenced by the tragic shooting of jean charles de menezes); and the police don't want to carry guns themselves. i think we just have an entirely different attitude towards guns and policing over here - we don't like guns nearly as much as the americans do; and we still think our bobbies on the beat should be for returning lost children to their families and giving directions. i reckon we should start doing spinoffs of our own shows. waking the dead: glasgow or silent witness: birmingham maybe.
anyway, to torchwood...i read an article recently about the new five-part series and there was no mention of martha or mickey, so it looks like the producers have seen sense. my guess would be that they hinted at it in the last episode of doctor who to test the waters - i bet the producers will have been on doctor who and torchwood forums afterwards to see how popular that would be. the fact that they're not doing it suggests that there was a negative reaction from the fans.

How about Spooks: Leeds T'Lion, T'Witch and T'wardrobe. T'good, T'bad and T'ugly. And T' T'
Or maybe they should start a Torchwood Peckham; "Oi mate, mate, there's a 'mutin alien down the docks!" "Orite orite, calm down there luv, gordon bennitt, just pop along an' give ol' Torchwood a bell, they'll sort it, no need to go gettin' yerself all cream crackered over it."

I'm just waiting for them to make an American Doctor Who.
And then they could make Torchwood: America. It could be set in Milwaukee. Oh, the shame... xD

Oh my goodness. An american Torchwood would be awesome. Of course, there wouldn't be the yummy British accents, but it would still be cool to have a Torchwood in our country.

An American Doctor Who would just be an abomination. I could definitely see an American Torchwood though. Which is..odd. I don't know. But Milwaukee? Why? I might be biased in this, but I think that Seattle could definitely be the place for Torchwood. I mean, there are plenty of bisexuals to make it work.

That's hilarious! I wish we had a lot of good dialects in America.

AHH! I forgot it was a five-part series thing. *cries*
L&O: London?? Bizarre. Well if that's keeping Freema AWAY from Torchwood, then I'm all for it. That sounds horrible, I know. But ya'll know my feelings towards Martha.
Ohhh, L&O. Such a brilliant show. I'm just trying to imagine how it'll be. XD Well if they needed new ideas, a completely different legal system is definately fresh.
I was okay at the "hint" I guess of Mickey being in Torchwood ... only because I love Mickey to death. But if he's not, then that's cool as well. Just the three then. WIN.
DW America?! *DIES*
Abomination indeed. Just the thought of it makes me cringe. The uproar alone would be like worldwide and like mass chaos and havoc. Ha ha ha! I could actually see an American Torchwood though. Seattle would be a brilliant spot. But then if you're looking for sexual orientation not being a problem...I'd go south to San Francisco.
But why am I talking about this nonsense?! It should never never ever be attempted to adopted in the States. It should only be imported in its original brilliantly British form as it is to BBC America. ALTHOUGH, BBCA trims both shows. *grumble* Idiots. Sci Fi does the same to DW when it randomly has marathons of some season. And Sci Fi DESPERATELY needs to get Torchwood. It's SO Sci Fi, it's unbelievable that it hasn't aired there yet.

*growls also at the editors who cut parts od Doctor Who and Torchwood* Why? Why?
And yeah, I now kinda agree that any Torchwood/Doctor Who american version would be kinda bad. At first I thought it was a neat idea, but its something best left to the British.
Though it would be cool if in Torchwood there was mention (and maybe even a bit of interaction between) a Torchwood unit stationed in America.

Okay, so I got a pretty excited a couple minutes ago, only to have my hopes and dreams squashed.
When the title popped up on Google, it looked somewhat ligit (I didn't see the title "unNews"). But its not.
I'll warn you though, the language is a bit crude at times, but nothing you havn't encountered if you watch Torchwood.

I was so excited...

I laughed really hard at the supposed Tennant quote. It was really hilarious.

Awww..., too bad (but also very funny ). Not really the best "fake spoiler" if you ask me, though. I mean, the opening sentence says David Tennant is an actress, not an actor. That was a dead giveaway, as were the (probably) purposeful errors in the names of the characters mentioned. Still, it would have been cool . I know we get sort of a Torchwood/ Doctor Who crossover in the season four finale of the latter, but I was always hoping David Tennant himself would pop in. I suppose there's always a chance the new doctor could show up, but I'd have preferred Tennant's doctor, just because he and John Barrowman have such great chemistry when they're onscreen together.
A few new spoilery things might make you feel better, though, Nauriel Rochnur (Or not- they might just tick you off) 8). Here's the newest info we have on season three: http://discussion.bbcamerica.com/jivefo ... 0&start=15 . Discuss away 8]!

Slight spoilers for next season
Well, according to that, there's more Janto, and further exploration into Ianto's background, and I thoroughly approve of both.

Tar-Dis- Same here . More Janto is always good, and finding out more about Ianto is very welcome. I gotta say, though, despite the fact that him always being in a suit is a hallmark of the character, I'd really like to see more of him in casual clothes, like we did in "Fragments", except not in flashback 8).
***KINDA BIG SPOILER ALERT***
The "might tick you off" spoiler I was referring to was the fact that we meet Jack's daughter. I won't mind it, personally, but some people might. Should be interesting 8)!

SPOILERS
"Katy Wix and Rhodri Lewis play Rhiannon and Johnny Evans, Ianto's sister and brother-in-law respectively and many "crucial events" revolve around them in the serial.[2] Lucy Cohu will be playing Jack's daughter Alice."
