*SPOILERS*
Oooo...I would love more Janto (who wouldn't?), and looking into Ianto's background? Heck to the yes! I can't wait.
I'm a bit wary of Jack's daughter. I know that a guy who's as...well, active, as Jack would have to have a child or two out there, but I'm wondering if that will change the dynamic a bit. I mean, Jack is free, has no ties. He's not much of a father figure. I'd like to see what would happen when he meets his child, but I hope she doesn't stick around for too long.

Nauriel Rochnur- Quote: He's not much of a father figure. Really? I'd say his relationship with Owen could sort of be seen as a de-facto "father-son" connection. That scene in "Dead Man Walking" when the two of them are in jail had a few bits where I thought Jack was taking a fatherly tone with him, like in this exchange: (Talking about the real reason he brought Owen back from the dead): Jack- That's not why I brought you back. Owen- Then why? (or something like that) Jack- Because I wasn't ready to give up on you. A couple of other things, in different episodes: From "Adam"- That whole scene where they're gathered around the table after Jack has figured out what Adam did. He acted very much the father figure there, I thought. From "From Out of The Rain"- Maybe not so much fatherly as parental, but the way he interacted with the little boy the team had been able to save. Still, I do see your point . Quote: I know that a guy who's as...well, active, as Jack would have to have a child or two out there, but I'm wondering if that will change the dynamic a bit. It probably will, a little. I don't remember if the following description was in that same comment I posted a link to, but it was written like this: " By the conclusion the TW status quo is dramatically changed." Now, that could mean a number of things, but the way Jack changes, if he does at all, after meeting his daughter, might be one of those the above quote is referring to. We'll have to see 8]. There's also this description, from a different comment on that site: " Jack makes a choice no father should ever have to make." I've got no clue what that means, except that said choice is going to be an extremely difficult one. I'm guessing, from those two quotes, the last couple of episodes or so are going to be major tearjerkers 8/.
Lothycat: Ooh, interesting =]! Thanks for the info and link 8)!

Yeah, you do make a good point. Jack is definately an awesome guy. But I think there's a little bit of difference between how he treats his team and how he would treat his child.
First off, well...I hadn't thought it through, so it doesn't really apply. Jack's daughter will probably show up able to take care of herself. But can you image Jack providing a young child with everything it needs? Changing diapers, bottle feeding, getting up in the wee hours of the night? Haha...I can just imagine Jack with a baby monitor on his dress stand and the baby crying "Ianto, little Lucy is crying. Its your turn to check on her." "My turn? I checked on her last time. Its your turn."
Of course, it'd be a lot easier for jack to be a father to a child that's already grown up. He wouldn't have to be physically responcible for her, but there's still quite a bit of emotional investment. With the rest of his team, he chose to be emotionally involved with them. He didn't have to become attached to them. But with his daughter, he has a commitment. Its his child. He helped to make her. I don't think that Jack would shirk that responcibility, but he doesn't have a choice with her like he does his daughter.

That's great ! Very funny, and very cute 8).
I believe his daughter (whose name is "Alice", according to another comment on that site) is going to be portrayed as an adult in the series. So if anything, it'll be a situation sort of like the one in " The Doctor's Daughter", minus, of course, the fact that her existence will be a surprise to him.

AHHHHHH!
*swallows tongue*
I found it! I found it, I found it, I found it.
Have any of you see the movie Penelope? I went to see it with some of my friends, and imagine my surprise when our very own Burn Gorman (Owen) made an appearance! Yes, he had a role in that movie. I nearly died. And here's the clips of him in the movie, with his accurate but somewhat highpitched nasally american accent.

Hehe 8), I knew about that one . I haven't seen it yet, but I'm hoping to. Should be interesting to hear him without his real accent 8). Another thing to look for him in: he was in a recent version (as in this year) of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights on PBS. He played Cathy Earnshaw's brother, Hindley. He was an a-hole, but any Burn Gorman on TV, as Owen or another character, is always good, right ? It's already aired, but you could probably still find it online 8).

Looks good, doesn't it ? I watched it online later on in the evening the day it first aired on BBC America.
Question, just out of curiosity: Did watching that give you enough TW until the season airs, or did it make you even more anxious for that 8)? For me, it's enough until we actually see it (except when I start engaging in speculation discussions with other fans, that is ) 8].

I think I can hold over until it comes out, now that I know it's coming, at least.

^ Yeah, me too, like I said 8), although it's probably going to get progressively harder to hold out as more and more speculation discussions are started .
***POTENTIALLY BIG SPOILER ALERT*** My personal resolve got a tiny bit nicked last night, when I was looking into speculations a couple of people made about who it was we saw in that shot of a body-bagged corpse, literally burned down to the bone. At first, I didn't think it could be either of the potential candidates, namely, Owen or Jack. After I watched the trailer again a few times to test my own speculation about it, though, I was proven wrong. Let's just say I'm very sure I know who that is now, and naturally, have even more questions on my mind .

Oh really? You think you know who it is? I would love to speculate with you on it.

Speculate away, nevermind the spoilers. I'd like to hear who you think it is.

Me too! Whom do you think it is?
BTW, Shadowcat, I ADORE your avvie and banner. Yay Oliver!
SPOILER?
I was thinking the same thing, except that I'm fairly sure that its not Owen. Didn't Tosh say something about him literally dissentigrating from the radiation? For me that leaves only Jack, though who knows...those writers are a tricky bunch.

Okay, glad you guys are game for this, it should be fun to speculate along with you all .
So, here goes: I think it's Jack. The biggest thing that gave it away was a really quick scene toward the end of the trailer (there's one other bit that hints at it, earlier in the trailer, but I'll get back to that). You have to watch the trailer a few times (I think it took me three or four viewings before I caught it), very carefully, in order to see it, but it's definitely there. The scene is this: a few feet away, in terms of the camera angle, we see a severely burned body (as in, third degree burns on its entire surface) lying on a metal autopsy table. As we watch, its torso suddenly jerks up, and I believe we hear it take a breath, as well, but I'm not entirely sure of that. I'll check again 8). Since we've seen Jack die a number of times the past two seasons, and how his body regularly reacts when he revives, that movement should be very familiar .
The earlier bit that clues us in that the corpse was Jack goes by just as fast, but is at a much closer perspective (you'll likely see this with less trouble than the one I mentioned above). That scene plays as follows: the camera zeros in, from the side, on the burn victim's head, neck, and upper chest (similar to what we saw in that shot of the body-bagged corpse, only from a sidelong, rather than frontal, angle). If you look, very quickly, above and behind the victim's head, you'll see that he/she is restrained in some manner. The individual who originally caught this said it looked like the person was chained to the wall. Paraphrasing what that same individual said, normally, a person who was burned that badly wouldn't need to be restrained. So, we can gather from that fact that whoever the person is, another party doesn't want them to go anywhere for some reason. The majority opinion from another forum that discussed the trailer in a topic seems to be this: the government organization that wanted Jack and the rest of the team dead takes Jack's corpse to their base, and at some point, finds out he can't die and is healing. In order to prevent him from escaping and revealing what he knows, they restrain him and hold him prisoner. I'm leaning toward the same conclusion, but also have my own theory: someone other than Gwen, Ianto, or Rhys, who knows who Jack is and that he can't die, does all that to keep him safe until he's fully healed.
Either way, I'm guessing a big chunk of the story is going to focus on Gwen, Ianto, and Rhys trying to dodge death and/or capture at the hands of that aforementioned government organization. It should be a very edge-of-your-seat viewing experience .

Yes, I'm thinking it's Jack too. There's another clue that I caught: at one point (at 00:40) there's a woman standing near some burning rubble and she says "Target one is elliminated. Target two and three have escaped, but we are in pursuit" followed by clips of Ianto running. I'm fairly sure that means they "killed" Jack and are looking for Gwen and Ianto. Whoever "they" are.
I'm so excited!
EDIT: So, I did a little screencapping of this trailer...
first picture you can clearly see that the burned man is chained to the wall. So yeah...not very pretty. He doesn't look that comfortable, does he?
http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/6232 ... opyrq0.jpg
This next one has me a little concerned. You can see that there is a man chained to the wall with a grey stuff being poured onto him. I'm concerned because I think it's Jack, and who ever captured him might be trying to seal him in cement.

^ First, about that bit at the beginning of the trailer with the woman you mentioned (her name's "Agent Johnson" BTW 8))- Yep, I'd have to agree with you there .
And, about the screencaps- Good job getting those ! I joined another forum (a Doctor Who one, to be exact) a few days ago. In the Torchwood-related section of it, there's a thread about the trailer. One of the posters in it managed to get really good screencaps of the whole trailer (not sure how, since it goes by so quickly, and the window for the link I looked at was pretty small). I was planning to copy those and post a few on here, so we can speculate more, but you've already taken care of two :].
Anyway:
Screencap 1: No, he most certainly doesn't. He looks like he's in excruciating pain, in fact ! That shot makes me shudder every time I see it . On that forum I mentioned, there's a debate going on about whether that actually is Jack. The majority opinion is that it is, but there are still a few holdouts . Personally, I'm with the majority. It's hard to tell at first, because the person is so badly burned/disfigured, but look more carefully, and there's something very Jack-like about him. I'm not sure what exactly, though :/. The facial features and expression, maybe ? **Shrug**.
Screencap 2: Yeah, I think you're right, unfortunately . It's not just the fact that the person is chained to the wall that makes it a dead giveaway. The shot is sort of blurry, but the arms look more like Jack's, IMO, than they do in the scene above. The question is, how long after the scene you took the first screencap of does this one occur? Is it immediately after (in other words, once whoever has Jack discovers he's still alive, perhaps through hearing his screams of pain, they pour cement on him to keep him from getting away, should he try to do so, in spite of all the pain he's in), or later on? I'm thinking it's more likely the second possibility, because in the screencap, it looks like Jack's arms are mostly healed. Still, it could just be the blurriness of the picture that's giving that impression 8|.
