I guess they could have had more about the Palantir in the film. It would have explained a lot of stuff.
Yes, Denathor seems pretty dismissive towards Rohan, doesn't he? I'm not sure he'd like Eowyn much either. But then, Faramir never always followed his father's choices when Denathor was alive - and like with the quote I posted earlier, he doesn't care whatever anyone thinks of his marriage, because he loves her.

Well, if Denethor would have lived on, I'm sure Faramir wouldn't let him ruin his relationship and wedding with Eowyn, whatever Denethor would do. He loves Eowyn more than letting this happen in any way.
And well, then Denethor would have to get accostumed to this whole situation, and would have to figure a way how to treat Eowyn. I believe with the time he would treat them both better, at least when the grandchildren come.

I think that grandchildren probably wouldn't matter to Denathor anyway if none of his descendants would be Ruling Stewards, taking complete control of Gondor. I think he was opposed to Aragorn becoming king, wasn't he? Denathor might have gone even more loopy when he realised he wouldn't be in complete power anymore.
Or maybe not. Just me rambling lol.

Lol well, we'll never answer this question for sure, just can try to answer it out of the picture we got from the books and the movies. But I think when he saw Faramir being brought back there was a hint of true pain and love for Faramir in him, and when he said in the movie 'you don't take my son from me." to Gandalf.
So I believe in some way he has a soft part as well, although it is very very very difficult to find. But so, he might soften as well when he becomes grandfather.

I always thought when he said "you don't take my son from me" he meant that he didn't want Gandalf to stop him killing Faramir. But then... he didn't really know he was killing him, did he? Lol.
I think I'll just stop asking questions about this subject, it's very confusing, especially since Denathor's a very complex character.

Well, it surely is difficult to think oneself into Denethor's mind, as he is as you said a very complex character. You can't explain his character for sure, cause there is too little known of how he truly was.
Anyway, back to our beloved Eowyn

Back to Eowyn indeed!
I asked someone to animate some of my favourite Eowyn banners along with some others ones... and voila! ^^

Well, I already noticed it, it's beautiful! I like especially the 'Shieldmaide, Daughter of Kings' one, mostly because of the color. And it somehow shows more perspectives on Eowyn in the movies than only one banner could.

Yep, it's difficult to choose if there are so many many good banners!

Hehe. I like requesting Eowyn banners... that's why I have so many. And all her outfits she has! They're so pretty you can't fit them all into one banner. I can't decide whether I like the white one (in the Daughter of Kings banner) or the shieldmaiden one (in the White Lady of Rohan banner) best

Lol, well, with her outfits i already have made my decision: I like her white gown best, just cause she's the white lady, and the white dress is therefor most important for her.

That's a wonderful banner, especially because it has all her history in it. I've made a few banners as well, but I'm not sure if they're any good.

Thank you! ^_^
Banner-making is difficult, especially as I don't have any special software like Photoshop.
I really liked the quote I used for this one; it was so sad and moving.

Well, I worked over one year with just paint until I got photoshop, it is difficult without such a program, but still possible.
And this quote tells everything about Eowyn and her relationship to Theoden, as it is Theoden's point of view on her story actually.
