It's his secret mission behind his films.
Anyways--why are we talking about PJ. That's treason in a Shyamalan thread.

=D I know, I'm excited to. I went online to the library site and looked up Signs and it said my local library branch had it (Video Cassette however) and I JUMPED FOR JOY! They didn't have Unbreakable though---so I'll request it and see if I can get it later.

Ack. That be true. *boots PJ out of thread* Soz dude.

Ooh, you're library still has videos? I doubt it will have the deleted scenes, but don't be too bothered about them, I didn't know our DVD had them, and we've had it for years. ^_^

*jumps up and down* Will you watch it tomorrow? It is about 1.42-43.... actually me and my mum have noted all his films are about an hour 42-43 minutes long... which is a bit odd...

Or he could say "I am not greedy. I will not make a 3 hour film just for the sake of it, when it can be one hour forty easily. I respect my audience's bladders too much".

I'm sure you can find them. :-)

YEY!! Finally saw Signs at like 4 am in the morning. xD And after that I couldn't sleep.

It's so scaaaary. I'm a chicken in general except for The Village because I figured it out before it got to the scary parts, but still---this movie was like... AAHHHH ALIENS OF DOOM!!! I seriously did not want to believe it was aliens but it was... xD Most definitely.

Joaquin and Mel = love. xD Oh my gosh.
"Ahhhh I'm losing my mind!"
"We're gonna tear your head off!!"

From the moment Joaquin jumped out of bed at Bo's screaming I knew it was going to be good. I never knew you could jump out of bed like that. xD

The first thing I said when the Lady Sheriff came was, "MRS. CLACK!!!!! No wonder why you went to the Village after all this weirdo end of the world stuff."

I was inwardly chuckling when Merril went on and on about how the people behind these signs are nerds with no girlfriend and he keeps going on about how they're stupid and I'm sitting thinking, "...So where's your girlfriend, Merril?"
And then in the midst of them trying to convince Morgan that there are no aliens, Bo asks, "Why don't they have girlfriends?" And it was the cutest thing in the world. I love Bo. I only hope for my kid to be the same. She's so cute.

Has anyone noticed that alot... and I mean, a lot of his films are set in Pennsylvania? Specifically around the Philadelphia area.

Sixth Sense = Philadelphia.
Signs = Bucks County, right outside of Philadelphia.
The Village = Well, we don't know if it's SET in Pennsylvania, but we know Edward Walker taught at the University of Pennsylvania... which is in Philadelphia.
Lady in the Water = The Cove in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

YAAAAAAYYYY!!

*screams*

Oh, my didn't they work so well together? I've only seen Mel Gibson in this and the Patriot, and it was nice to see some lighter moments with him.... "I'm insane with anger!"... "it never sounds convincing when I curse"... "explain noises".... .. and the bit when he was talking to the alien in the kitchen... "we took some of your friends downtown in the paddy wagon... don't throw your life away son"...

And that's just Mel. Joaquin was so bloody funny. I just had a stupid grin on my face whenever I saw him... even in the dire situations.... :D

I know! I watched that jump out of bed twice. XD

Gah, I meant to tell you Mrs. Clack was in it... her opening story was hilarious as well.... :teehee:

Aw, poor Merril. Lol, and the way Mel kept looking at him as he was explaining "the reason" as if to you "that's not the kind of answer I was hoping you'd give them". XD Bo was really good in that. I'm not a lover of child actors, but in all M. Night's films, they have been great.

Yep. He has said that he only wants to make films in Philadelphia and set in Philadelphia. It's his hometown.

Only in Philadelphia? That's.... weird. I mean, hometown or not... there are other places y'know.

I love Graham's expression when he just realized he said paddy wagon. xD "... Paddy Wagon?"

I liked Ray Reddy---I mean, usually you just want to hate characters that cause others harm but... he was a victim of God's coincidences, 'meant to be' as they kept saying about the incident. Poor Colleen. :(

"The lake, maybe. I hear they don't like water..."
I was screaming at the TV, "GRAHAM TAKE YOUR FAMILY TO WATER---YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOUR DIRECTOR! HE KNOWS STUFF!"

I wanted Graham to reprimand Morgan when he swore at him after taking a vote whether or not to leave to the lake or stay at home, because it just----I need Graham to do that for some... basis or something.

Overall, I really liked it, it was very funny but I think Lady in the Water is still my favorite, I'm more of a fantasy person than aliens being afraid of water.

Well maybe he wants to kinda get people aware of the fact that Philadelphia is a good place to make films. Maybe he wants more people to notice the film industry there or something.

Hehe, yeah. As if to say "what the heck am I saying?!".

Yeah, you do have to feel sorry for him, as what happened was meant to be, and there was nothing he could do about it.

That seemed... weird to me... and mean the dude was a vicar... and he's told everyone not to go near Tracy Abernathy because of how she swears.. and his kid (who is way too young to say something like that I think) says something pretty bad, and he doesn't tell him off.... that in my opinion, is a slight slip up in the script department.... the only one I've noticed so far.

Well I'm just glad you liked it. :-)

I did. xD Joaquin made it so worth it. Have you noticed that M. Night Shyamalan uses a couple of actors twice but never more than twice?

Joaquin was in Signs and the Village.
Bryce Dallas Howard was in Lady in the Water & the Village.
Bruce Willis was in Sixth Sense and Unbreakable.
Cherry Jones in The Village & Signs.

I agree that Graham should have at least said something to Morgan when he swore. I know it was a tense situation and all, but it would have just taken a sentence. Bo's listening too- what is she gonna think if her brother gets away with swearing? lol

Out of curiosity, what do you all think Lucius' color is? Just a random question I was thinking about today. lol

Colleen did tell Bo to always listen to her brother, he'll take care of her. If Morgan swears, Bo will too!

I don't know.... that's a mystery that will probably remain a mystery because well... it's never revealed. I have a feeling though it's red---because it symbolizes so many things. It symbolizes blood (which is probably the reason why the Elders used red as the bad color) but it can also symbolize strength, passion, aggression, energy etc. I also believe Lucius's color is red because of the way Ivy is adamant in never telling him.

Yeah Kit I had noticed. I think it's kinda nice that he uses them more than once, Mel Gibson was filming Passion of the Christ around the time of the Village, so maybe that's why he hasn't in it. I could imagine him in the Edward Walker role, as it does remind me slightly of his role in the Patriot.

As for the colour... hmm... red is always used at some point in an M. Night film.... at it is usually meant to symbolize bad things in his films... there are three uses of it in the Sixth Sense, 2 of which are bad.. the Village we know of... and there are other uses of it in his films as well.

I think it maybe white. A real brightness is the dark that Ivy sees.

I don't know if I would've liked Mel for Edward Walker---William Hurt was just SO good.

White's an interesting choice.... hmmm.

What do you think Edward Walker's color is?

Well we could say that you wouldn't have like William Hurt for Graham either as Mel was so good. :teehee: But haveing seen him in a costume drama where he is the fatherly figure and he counsels other people, I can see him in that role.

Blue. Or brown. Don't know why. Gut feeling.
