Maybe it's because he and Norrington have some similarities.

hmmm, maybe...
I know... it might seem a little odd... but I think it's a lot of fun! by being a pirate and getting first hand experience at what Jack, Will, and the rest are like I can "show" Becky there's more to life than just wiping the pirates out. _________________ Chase a couple hearts, we could leave 'em in shreds

I can't quite imagine Beckett as a pirate though, I don't think it would suit him... Actually, it suited Norrie...

Yes, I must admit Norrie did take to being a Pirate very well. If you think about it though....Beckett kind of already IS a Pirate. Just more legitimate(I'm not sure if you could really use those terms together without creating an Oxymoron :shrugs:) But anyways, Becky makes bargains and searches for things that will make him powerful. He does and says things he does not mean to acheive his goal...I think he is totally a pirate..who just happens to be working with the governments approval..

I think I liked Norrie more as a Commodore... although his pirate side wasn't bad either.

You are very right there, Eru, Beckett was very much like a pirate only basically with the government's consent.  Although I wouldn't tell Becky all that... 
yeah, I didn't mind Norrie as a "pirate" either... It did suit him even though he wasn't truly happy as a pirate.
