[giggles at the warning beside her name] YESS... [hovers] Around. I shall convert ye all to Lucius Hunt fans (though it won't be hard, I'm sure!) and will insist that ye all buy The Village... Woooooo. Anyways, as I've said before in other threads and mid-discussions. My favorites of his films in order of best to (okay) because I can never hate a film by M. Night Shyamalan. 1. Lady in the Water 2. The Village 3. Sixth Sense The others I don't really want to list because I don't know them too well. My mission right now is to try and find a copy of Signs to re-watch since it's been a while. Actually, it's been 5 years. ![]() He's coming out with a new film in 2008 called "The Happening". Anyone else really excited? Even the title sounds eerie and will probably make our heads hurt. Plot Outline: "A paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity." ^Doesn't that sound awesome? XD What I really love about Shyamalan is----however much his movies are criticized, however less appreciation his films get---he doesn't ever change his style, he continues to write as though his films are like #1 hits for everyone because he knows (though not arrogantly) that his films ARE great, and I think he really appreciates us fans for appreciating his work, y'know? P.S. LUCIUS HUNT = <3 |

@ Elenya - That's a good choice. I would say mine are probably in a similar order as well. @ Kit - Lol, glad you like it. I thought it suited you quite well at the moment. ![]() My favourites are: The Village Signs Lady in the Water The Sixth Sense Unbreakable I was kinda disappointed with Unbreakable, but I have a feeling if I watched it again, I would like it a lot more. First time viewings of modern films tend to go over my head a little bit for some weird and wacky reason. o.0 Aww... ickle Kitty.... only eweven..... ![]() Yeah, I have heard about that. Didn't know the title though. All I know is it is about the Earth fighting back at what has happened to the planet or something like that. Needless to say, if it gets slaughtered by the critics I will be there at the first showing. ![]() Yeah, I know what you mean. I think also it has something to do with the fact that he knows he is good at doing the types of films he makes. I mean, people like Spielberg will do a variety of different genres etc, and just because M. Night keeps to the genre he is most confortable with, doesn't mean he is any less of a director than Spielberg because he sticks to what he knows, he is actually smart for staying inside his boundary line. I mean, look at Hitchcock, and the types of films he made. And whenever he tried something different, everyone hated it and he want back to his suspense films. So on the whole, I think he is pretty clever for doing that. And also there is no-one out there quite like him, so he has cornered that little market as well. |

Welcome Vivi! ![]() Well after watching Signs, I can now confirm what I have thought for a while, that it is my favourite M. Night film followed by the Village. As much as I adore the Village, there is something in the story of Signs, and the whole kinda family working together to save themselves from these aliens, while coming to terms with what happened in the past and everything, that makes me love it so much. Although the main story of the film is scary, it is, at the heart of it, a film about a broken family, and it is that, which sets this film apart, as the acting is so wonderful, it just draws you in and keeps you there. *stops babbling* |

Johnny's Fan wrote: Aww... ickle Kitty.... only eweven..... ![]() ![]() "Love fills us up body and soul and we must shout and scream and bellow and flail and BOOOHHOOO[SOB]." But I am similar to Kitty in one aspect. "She has found love. Again." [clings onto Joaquin] Anyways. To take a break from my rabid fangirling. (Montana: THANK YOU! I quite enjoy having my heart melt at it as well) I haven't seen Unbreakable either, Montana---though JF says it disappointed her so we'll definitely see! I do oh so want to see it for myself because it is after all by our great Shyamalan (that sounds awesome doesn't it? Our Great Shyamalan... like an almighty guru or something). Well, Vivi has seen Unbreakable, what did you think of it? Vivi and Montana must both watch Lady in the Water, it's been over a year, Vivi! Go see it, I implore you! Sadly The Happening does not come out until June of 2008 so we must sit here and discuss avidly about his past films (though few there are, there is much to talk about). I've been writing a Village fanfic and I always feel like I have to speak like them. ![]() Spielberg changes from genre to genre that what you like about him in this film might not work for another film that he's done---and yet people hail him whatever genre he does and I think it's very hypocritical of them to criticize Shyamalan and praise Spielberg. Ooooh... if JF's favorite is Signs, I might end up liking Signs the best then. I don't know...my love for The Village is pretty darn strong (and I'm a hopeless shipper). |

I read about his 2008 movie awhile back- it sounds pretty cool! I just hope it doesn't turn into a "save the environment" lecture- type thing, ya know? But, I trust the director! lol After you finish your fanfic, Kit, I'd be interested in reading it! |

@ Phoenix - Welcome! You're in. ![]() @ Kit - LOL! I actually never thought about that.... it's a bit of an insult I suppose although I think Kitty is a well meaning character on the whole. I think her heart just ran away with her there. ![]() Hehe, well you may just have to share him there. ![]() Well when I said I was disappointed with it, it was more to do with the fact I didn't completely understand it, so that did take some of my viewing pleasure away from it. I'm watching it right now actually, and I think I must have not been with it on the day I first saw it, as the story is pretty simple to follow and I am really enjoying it. ![]() I doubt very much that it will be out in June over here. ![]() Well as for Spielberg and Shyamalan I praise them both. I am equally impressed that Spielberg can literally do anything, and that Shyamalan is the only one out there who makes the type of films he does. Well there is no shipping really in Signs, but I just love it for... I don't know really... it is hard to put my finger on it.... I was just hugely entertained.... and Joaquin gets some really funny lines and scenes. I would quote a particular scene that set me off, but I don't want to spoil it for y'all. ![]() @ Elenya - Yeah, I know what you mean. Although to be perfectly honest it really wouldn't bother me if it did. I quite like the idea of the Earth fighting back. *imagines a view from space of the earth sprouting arms and whacking itself round the head with a frying pan* |

I agree! ![]() That scene where Graham comes home and sees his kids and Merril, sitting on the couch with the hats is just priceless. And the seriousness on their faces and the fact Merill has been converted. [giggles] |
