My favorite song is A Little Priest. Memorized it in about three days. Now I just need the soundtrack.

Toby... I did not like Toby one bit... *walks away muttering under her breath*

YAY!! Someone else loves that song too!!! :P

I fell in love with it the first time I saw the play performed. And by falling in love with it, I thought it was the most genius piece of writing for a musical ever. XD I picked up most of it the first time I saw it, but one of my friends had the original soundtrack and I think I had that song on repeat for HOURS. :P

Lucky! I want to see an actual theatre production of Sweeney Todd... although I probably would start to miss Johnny Depp a little too much. And I can't picture anyone else as Mrs. Lovett besides Helena. I probably would've done that too! The lyrics are just brillaint - are they much different from the Tim Burton ones?

Oh you should go see it if you EVER get the opportunity to.

Johnny's performance is definately amazing. And I don't really have a preference when it comes to who plays Sweeney. Just as long as they are AWESOME and PWN ALL. :P And Helena was just WONDERFUL as Mrs. L, but , Angela Lansbury will always be my Mrs. L. I don't really know why.

So go see it on stage if you can! Because it's just fantastic live.

(How ironic is this? I have iTunes on Shuffle and "My Friends" just came on!!! *SQUEEE*)

Well as the lyrics are Stephen Sondheim's...they kind of had to get permission. ;) SO all the lyrics are the same (for every song). HOWEVER what IS different, especially with "A Little Priest" is that it's VERY much cut down. (And there are some songs that aren't even in there :P)

I can't remember if I posted a link to the song being sung in 1979 on YouTube here. Hmmm.....

I know, I would die if I got the chance! Hopefully sometime soon while I'm still on a Sweeney Todd obsession. :P

I guess it's just because I've only ever seen them as Todd and Lovett and it would be so wierd for me to try and picture someone else... but if it's like the movie, I'm sure I'd love it either way.

 That is pretty weird! I've been singing the songs endlessly today... even went out to eat with my hair up in a Mrs. Lovett hairstyle and my ST tee-shirt on... it was great.

Okay, that's good - so if I see it I should be able to sing along and drive everyone crazy, right? :teehee: Wait, cut down in the movie or the play? Oh, if you could find the link, it would be great! :D

Well, hopefully your Sweeney Todd obsession NEVER goes away. ;) I became obsessed when I heard "A Little Priest" performed. How morbid is that? :P

Yeah, I understand what you mean about it being weird seeing the characters performed by someone else. :P I mean, Johnny just EMBODIED the character of Sweeney so well that it didn't matter. But the way he sang it was so different. In a good way. I mean, it was really just his voice. But ... HA HA HA! So, pretty much anyone playing Sweeney is awesome.

YAY for Mrs. L hairstyle! :P ALTHOUGH, I have to say it reminded me of Edward's in Edward Scissorhands. *LOVES* :P Lansbury's hair is much different. Interestingly though, in the production I saw, they decided to have her hairstyle similar to how Helena was going to have it like. :P

OH, when I went to see the movie...I had every song memorized and was singing under my breath the entire time. XD It would've been louder...but that would've been rude. ;)

The music is edited in the movie, not the play. :P Stephen Sondheim is a genius. :notworthy: And if I remember correctly, he had to like preapprove all the actors before they were like given the parts in the movie. :P So, if he likes them, then we all know it's PERFECT. :P

OH, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYGHHxJnDIw

(Oh and as far as I'm aware of, every set for the production is like that...quite ingenius actually...SORRY...theatre nut right here...)
ENJOY!

*runs off to watch laughing maniacally*

Saw Sweeney Todd last night...

O_o

Thought I would've had nightmares or something...but I didn't. :P

It was good though I still don't think I'll get over all the blood.

Ah well, it's what you get when you can't sleep and you sneakily watch a horror when everyone else is sleeping, at 2:00 in the morning.

MB :: I know, I hope not! It's classic - I don't think I'll ever grow out of it! Or any other Tim Burton films for that matter. Perfect for any age. ;-)

His voice is so sexy.. But the movie/play has a really good plot; very unique. Nah, not morbid at all! I got hooked on that song! I had it memorized in no time and I think it's one of my favorites, next to "My Friends". Helena and Johnny work so well together. I definitely want to see more of them in other TB films.

Oh, yes! I loved Edward Scissorhands! It came out my birth year... I didn't actually see it until a year ago and it was absolute love! Sad ending though... it made me cry! :'-( Really? Well maybe they're trying to adapt more from the movie now, since a lot of people were hooked what with it being Tim and all. *shrugs*

Lol! I would've thought it was funny if you burst out in song in the movie threatre! I didn't get to see it in the movies... had to buy the DVD, but I heard so many great reviews about it and of course I can't hate a Tim Burton film. Burton and Depp are so great together when it comes to filmmaking.

Yeah, you know it's good when Sondheim has to pre-approve! Oh, wow! I'll have to listen to that sometime.. [have dial-up, so YouTube isn't very fast on my compy ;-) ]

Aranel :: So, I'm guessing you liked it? Gah, the blood looked like tomato juice!
