The first time I saw PC, I was shocked because it was so differant from my beloved book...
Then I went and saw it again and I loved it. ^^
And yeah, I'm a little disappointed that they couldn't get the dryads right...the moving trees were better than the petal-people, though.

(It's been a while since I read the books so forgive me. ) Like, the trees have 'spirits' that move seperately from them. The trees don't actually move. Because in the Last Battle, wasn't the king talking to a tree spirit and then it fell over dead because somewhere, its tree had been cut down?
Yeah, they did, come to think of it...but the trees kind of had "spirits" in the movie - the one that got hit, when it fell over, had a face in the leaves...
I guess it wouldn't have been as dramatic if there had just been spirits instead of the actual trees themselves...maybe they'll explain it on a DVD extra...
Not sure Eary. You could always start one...
I'm glad you liked the movie, Esteleth!
I agree with you on the "petal-people".(hehe, I like the name, btw... ) While I did like them in the movie, they didn't seem to have as human of a form as I remembered them having in the books, and as such, if they had made the tree spirits like that in the end battle, well, how scary would that've been? p

Hm, about the trees moving (like teh Ents XD), in the book, weren't they supposed to be moving? O_o If I remember correctly, which I doubt lol, didn't someone shout, "The trees are moving!" Or it might just be my imagination. XD
Unfortunately, I just tried to look for my PC book, but I can't seem to find it right now. Boohoo. So, if I do find it, I shall see if I was right (omg first time) or if my mind is just making up stories ha ha.

Uh...I KNOW they move in there, I read that Lewis did it on purpose because he was disappointed that the "moving forest" prophecy in Hamlet was only an army covered up with branches, so he made HIS trees move on purpose in a sort of "take that, Shakespeare".

Quote: But almost before the Old Narnians were really warned to their work they found the enemy giving way. Tough-looking warriors turned white, gazed in terror not on the Old Narnians but on something behind them, and then flung down their weapons, shrieking "The Wood! The Wood! The end of the world!" But soon neither their cries nor the sound of weapons could be heard any more, for both were drowned in the ocean-like roar of the Awakened Trees as they plunged through the ranks of Peter's army, and then on, in the pursuit of the Telemarines. Have you ever stood at the edge of a great wood on a high ridge when a wild southwester broke over it in full fury on an autumn evening? Imagine that sound. And the imagine that the wood, instead of being fixed to one place, was rushing at you; and was no longer trees but huge people; yet still like trees because their long arms waved like branches and their heads tossed and leaves fell round them in showers.
That's why I don't get the trees that came onto the battlefield, with power cable roots that stretched for miles on end. The fact that trees were included is going to make everyone think of Ents anyway, so they may as well have gone the full hog, and at least made them like they should have been.

Well, yes I agree with you on the "power cable roots that stretched for miles" thing. But I'm guessing that they made the trees to seem like Ents because, and I'm just sprouting from my mind here, maybe it was of the relationship between Tolkien and Lewis. I mean, they both seemed to be somewhat fond of trees and they probably would have discussed their ideas. (I remember, I think, that Tolkien didn't agree with Lewis' work, but I'm not sure. Never really read into it.) Yeah, so maybe the people who made PC were thinking that Lewis had created his Tree Army along the same lines as Tolkien's Ents. I'm not sure if this all makes sense...but yeah.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude!
Ok, in a couple of weeks (Aug. 17), my mom and I, along with my aunt and uncle, are flying to Amsterdam for my cousin's wedding. We're flying Continental, and apparently they have tv screens for each seat, and you can pick the channel you want. Anyhow, I was looking at the August channel lineup for the type of plane we'll be on (767-400), and one of the channels is playing Prince Caspian.
!!!!!!!!!!!
I let out a huge squee when I saw that. Hello, I'm sooo watching PC on the plane. We'll be flying through the night, so there's nothing to look at outside... hello!

You know what...
I don't think I heard any Telmarine's yelling "The end of the world!" In the movie.
Darn. That would've been amusing.
