WHOOHOOOO!!! SO happy to hear about this.
I say the more the merrier! So long as Johnny is up for it, I don't care how many more Pirate movies they make. Can't get enough of Captain Jack

great, a third Pirates film to demolish the already-demolished film franchise. Not supporting this film either in theaters or on dvd. Besides, it's just for money and not really for the fans.

You know, it's only a person here and there who actually agrees with you.
Most people would take a dozen more pirate films, so I can't see how it's "demolished."
It has to be for the fans in order to make the money. If the fans didn't like it, they wouldn't make any money!

I don't agree that it's quite demolished. I enjoyed DMC and AWE, if not as much as CotBP, and I'll definitely go see another PotC movie in theaters. What I do think is that it will be very hard - if not impossible - to recapture the qualities that made CotBP such a good movie. The danger for the concept to become repetitive and lackluster is pretty high. They need to make it both exciting and new but not ridiculous.
However, I have a reasonable amount of faith in Ted and Terry. There's hope for it, and I won't be judging until I actually see the movie.

I'm not saying they are bad writers, I just don't hold them as high in my personal esteem as some people do. Story wise their script was pretty darn good (with the exception here and there) but actual dialogue for some of the characters was not the best in the world. And some of the characters were not the best in the world.
Same withe the director. I don't think GV would need to be on board to make it a good film.
As long as Jack and Barbossa will be back, I am pretty happy with that.
You can have them sitting on a deserted island the size of a rice crispie, and it would be an entertaining two hours.

^Now THAT would be a great idea.
Although personally, I think it might be a good story if Jack somehow had to raise Will and Elizabeth's son and do a bunch of crazy stuff... that way Will and Elizabeth are still mentioned, if they aren't in the movies.
Or like PD said, a prequel to CotBP might also be interesting as well. Maybe something along the lines of Jack's previous adventures before the first three movies.
..
Before you know it this is going to turn out like Starwars... 6 movies in total! Not that I would mind - you can never have enough pirates.

No Will
No Elizabeth
Good.
No Davy Jones
Bad.
Possiblity of Science fiction stuff.
Very bad.
But JD is for sure coming back, and that is awesome.
DMC and AWE were considerably darker, and dove deeply into the more mystical/mythological side of things, this I enjoyed intensely. I want character angst, and actual pain, I need to see the characters behave in such a way as to make it real. That's where the fault for CotBP was, they were too cut-out-ish. Not enough change and fluxuation in the characters, as a normal person would be.
They have to keep Jack Sparrow normal, the way he's been for three movies, or the last remaining pillar of Pirate normalcy will be gone.
I'd like the original crew back together, I'm the same way with the Hobbit. If the right people aren't doing it (T&T, GV) it'll be a mess.

Erm... first of all. It's the movie industry. When, in the history of movie making, was somebody NOT in it for the money? Aren't we all in it for the money when it comes to working? Who doesn't want to make a profit?
Secondly, DMC and AWE was ALL for the fans. The reason they were made was because of us. If CotBP had tanked at the box office, there wouldn't have been a second or a third film. There is SUCH a huge risk with sequels. The reason they're keeping the franchize alive is because the audience loved DMC and AWE so much. We can't get enough of Captian Jack and neither can Johnny.
Thirdly, have you even given DMC and AWE a chance? Have you even seen them? Or did you just decide to boycott them like you are the fourth film?
Hey, it's your loss!

^I totally agree with you
Anyways, I read the news and it is pretty exciting to have yet another Pirates movie to look forward. I really want to see Captain Jack Sparrow yet again in a movie

If Willabeth's sprog is even a part of the next film I'm not going to see it. There are too many sequels out there that insist of dragging in the old and tired cutesy kid format.
I highly doubt it though, if neither of them aren't in it... but still... it's a bad thought.

I was thinking along the same lines, though I'd still see it. Their story is over. It would be pretty ridiculous if their son was in it but you never saw either of the parents. And would Elizabeth really want her son to go off with Jack? It'd be a little um... weird...

AMEN.
Thank you for saying that so brilliantly!
I'm just so excited and really intrigued with what they're gonna come up with. It's Captain Jack, so it should by exciting and funny as hell. And that's all I need to know.
